LG was the perfect size monitor for me, at a manageable price (I expect the Asus to be anywhere from $1200 to $1500) and honestly the matte finish isn't bad as people think. It's truly a fantastic monitor. Great point on the monitor depth, I hate monitors that stick out too much on my desk. Great video!
@@hodl-eth-6036 me personally- i went for the Alienware aw3423dwf in the end, simply because the LG is still not released here in the UK and i cant wait any longer. 😅
@@hodl-eth-6036 i went with the Aw3423dwf. With the amex cashback and work discount, i managed to get the for £750. There was no way the LG would have made the cut at that price… And i am absolutely in love. Video coming out soon, stay tuned. ☺️
I would recommend the OLED G8 from Samsung or QD-OLED from Alienware for the 250 nits of full screen brightness and 1000 nits peak and they have less burn-in risk, better colors and glossy panel. However, if you have no interest in ultrawide + you play on a console, then the PG27AQDM is better as it has a heatsink and in my opinion a nicer design.
Thanks for comment! For sure, we have now the Samsung Oled G8, theres a phillips, Msi in the works as well. On the LG side, theres Asus, Corsair etc all coming out with Oled panels. The intent of this video (when it was released) was to help decide between the two Oleds that were in the market. Also, with all the other OLED upcoming panels, the samsung qd oled ultra wide and the LG w-oled 27” are the base panels being used in almost all the upcoming monitors. Exciting times!
We need to improve this; some changes were made in the last couple of vids that in hindsight are making the videos rather inconsistent. Thanks for the feedback!
I bought the new G8 QD Oled from Samsung and I really recommend buying it. Especially the people that are doubting. I dont experience colour issues in text where Linus was talking about at all. The design and screen quality is so good! I thought that 34 inch would be on the big side but it suits me pretty well. Only downside is probably not having 4k but I never had that resolution before so I cant tell. P.S. if ur a League of Legends player its basically cheating with this monitor
Congrats on the purchase - I’m sure your not seeing much sunlight 😉. I’m hearing nothing but awesome feedback on the monitor. For sure, it’s S tier and so will the LG be.
@@ogiel5501 how is the brightness levels and motion clarity? Any updates on your review? I’m so lost with all the options available out there and can’t decide 😅

Of course mileage may vary, but if you are looking for another reason to avoid buying is to see what is upcoming for CES 2023. I am still looking for that 32inch 4K QD-OLED/OLED monitor. Maybe this is the year that it happens.
Another note, here in Canada I was able to purchase an additional 2 years of burn in warranty on the alienware for $180 for a total of 5 years vs the $360 it would’ve cost me for 5 year coverage at Bestbuy on the LG
Which Alienware did you get DW or DWF? I'm also from Canada, debating between the Alienware and the LG, but 27" I feel is the sweet spot for me. 34" might be too big for my desk.

I’m not a fan of 4K on small monitors; I find it hard to see a significant enough difference to justify spending money on PC horsepower to get the high frame rates on 4K. So between the two, definitely the larger display IMO.
@@DoubleTakeTechUk No, I actually can't find a good looking desk. I like that with the mini legs above the desk with the storage cabinets. Did you basically make that yourself. I want something clean like that.

Yes indeed, it’s the same LG panel with a glossy finish and some extra connectivity and a very good preorder price. Just a risk, given all the technical issues and lack of refunds back when that company was called Eve.
In fact, Asus is also revealing their version of this LG OLED panel in CES 2023! But no exact release dates, so LG is the only option with a firm release date so far. ☺️

Very nicely summarised I think. Pinning this comment
When does the PG27AQDM release ?
They don’t even have. Preorder option yet….
you also missed out there Competitors which Include, Samsung and Asus that are both doing the same thing, but there not out yet

Why is the framerate choppy and the audio slightly misaligned with the video?

The real answer is wait to see what pops up at CES.
