- A short video from a recent surf fishing trip here in California. I haven't caught any surf perch in a while and we had some beautiful weather recently so it was a good time to hit the beach. I managed to catch a couple surf perch that we steamed for dinner later that day.
Looking tasty. Thx for this perch fishing tips too
No problem!
Steamed is the way to go for any white meat ocean fish I think.
It's definitely my favorite way to cook up surf perch.
i like how you inform us about the size and limits of the species. not much folks says it. im not that familair fishing the bay so its nice to get informed of the rule and regulations. i do try to read and understand the booklet but sometimes i just dont understand it lol. i like your maxima pole whats the specs of it? i want to get one for surf fishing. i have a mixima setup for regualr bass fishing only and like it.👍👊
Thank you! I'm glad you found my video informative. I understand the rules and regulations can get a bit confusing, and they're always changing too.
I'm using an Okuma rockaway and a Okuma SST rod. Rockaway is medium, 10ft, 3/4-3oz lure rating. The SST is medium, 9'6", 3/8-1oz lure rating.
Informative video and a fine looking perch plate. Do you fish in NorCal or SoCal; HMB?
Thanks! I fish around the bay area, SF down to SC.
@@truoutdoors Thank You. I fish SC too.
Yummy 😋!
😋
That second fish looks like a Calico Perch to me. Really similar to a Red tail, but different mouth and dorsal fin.
@@michaelhamerski2168 Made me double check my fish lol. But definitely a redtail, it's more elongated than a calico and the dorsal fin is definitely taller up front like a redtail's should be. Barred pattern on the side and the tail is also a very bright red.
