Until he can't against great teams because he runs the power sweep to death and expects the Defense to do everything and burnt them out! 88 was the last of the remaining championship push! His philosophies as a offensive mind was terrible McMahon covered for him changing the plays? He is a nice guy when he wants to, but buddy's 46 defense deserves more of the credit?

MNF in the late 80s and early 90s was awesome, maybe because I was a kid and the 8 pm start was always late and I had to be in bed by 9. Just like you, I slipped in the living room and watched cap boso score that Touchdown. Total pandemonium after some players thought the game was over. Seems like a million years ago but like yesterday at the same time. Memory lane..........

This game was a crusher for me as a Jets fan because it was pretty much same old, same old. The worst part was Al Michaels' comment at the 2 minute warning break about the Jets having the game in hand, barring a disaster.
The Jets did rally from the 1-3 start to finish 8-8 and steal the last WC spot in the AFC from Miami. Gave Houston a decent game on the road in the Dome in the WC round but lost by a TD.

The quality of the telecasts dipped when it moved to ESPN *because of* the move to ESPN. The NFL no longer calls _MNF_ its crown jewel on television. The quality of the games _themselves_ dipped, as well. Marquee matchups that were once being shown on _Monday Night Football_ instead were shown on _Sunday Night Football._ With the NFL *finally* instituting flex scheduling for _MNF,_ maybe the quality of the games will improve.

I didn’t get to see all the JETS games , so maybe I don’t know that Erik McMillian actually had some glaring weaknesses despite his huge D stats and the Pro Bowl recognition in his first 2 years?
But it doesn’t make sense to me that they replaced him at starter with Lonnie Young.
In 4 years with the JETS ( including backup duty this year ).
    22 INTS 608 Return Yds 5 TDS
    &
6 Fumble Recoveries for 120 Return Yards and 2 more TDS
He averaged 26 yards every time he touched the ball ( a ball never intended for him ) and he scored a touchdown 1 out of every 4 times that happened.
Add in 5 sacks from S position , 2 Pro Bowls , Defensive ROY in 88 and All Pro in 89 .... idk what the story was. Young was a solid pro , but definition of stopgap solution at Safety. Played with 3-4 teams for 2 or 3 years at a time until upgrade thru draft or FA happened.
IDK what happened, but maybe just Bruce Coslet Happened?

At least Bears fans can point to the Jets as a worse organization. Let;’s see, the Jets did win the Super bowl and was one of the most amazing stories in NFL history, but they have done NOTHING since. At least the Bears won in 85 and have returned to the Super bowl. The Jets have never come close since 69-they may be the worst organization in NFL history. Complete total bums who suck.

I stand corrected and re-state that the Jets are one of the worst NFL franchises since they joined the NFL.
It is stunning what the Jets did not do after the 69 SB win, one good season 69, followed by a decade of suck, some blips, more suck, some blips, and now a great run of suck.

Brad Muster had to be one of the worst picks of the Bears in that era. he was a TE running around as aFB.. When you make dumb picks like that then you ahve to adjust by using guys like Darren lewis as a FB because your converted FB, Muster, is really a galloping TE.

    • @CanadianChiGuy23

Hurricaneplays WRONG!!! Muster and Anderson were one of the best one-two combos in the game during that era. Listen to most any game cast, and they are singing Muster’s praises. He was one of the great fullbacks they’ve had. Run/Catch/Block and powerful.

    • @MikeBrownLegend
      @MikeBrownLegend 3 роки тому +2

      100% incorrect and false.
Muster was the Mike Alstott of that team ,- a change of pace running Fullback, and ran for 100 yards when Anderson was injured.

@@MikeBrownLegend Fun being trolled some times, so will point out that there were 2 HOF players taken in the mid-2nd round of the same draft. One was Thurman Thomas, the other Dermonti Dawson. the 2nd round of the draft that year was outstanding. Muster was a horrific reach at best. Even Wendell Davis does not compare to many of the players taken in the 2nd round of that draft.
