The 85 Bears played in the worst division in football that year. The Buccaneers, Packers and Lions, are you kidding me???? The Vikings were their only competition, and they should have beaten the Bears on Monday night. The Dolphins picked apart that so called great Bears defense by matching up therir fast receivers on the no-covering bears defenders like Gary Fencik and Mike Singletary. I remember this game so well, they made the cover of SIs next issue (a big deal back then) and then lost to Miami on that fateful Monday night two weeks later. So thankful for youtube to be able to re-live it. As for that glorious '85 season, John Robinson, the Rams coach at the time, nailed it as far as dealing with the Bears that year. He said the key was to try to "not let them get started". So true but good luck slowing down that freight train.

As a Bears fan, I want to agree with you. But Jim Brown is the G.O.A.T of running backs - he was an absolute beast. The Refrigerator actually tried to pick up Walter Payton and throw him into the end zone. Referees called "illegal use of the hands." John Madden was like, "How is that illegal use of the hands?" I totally agree, but I think at that point, the refs sensed that there was too much domination going on, and had to call a penalty just to stop the Bears from completely annihilating the Cowboys. Penalty: Too much domination, Chicago!

As a Bears fan, this, not the Super Bowl (I wanted payback against a Miami team that also would've been a better match up than wildcard New England.), as much as I was ecstatic winning it all, is my favorite Bears win. I still recall the sense of satsfaction I had whooping "America's team." Without even watching this video, I still recall the usually unflappable Landry visibly showing frustration, throwing his arms up up at one point. Then, there was his unusual unsportsmanlike comments about his team's defeat in his post-game press conference. Witnessing a normally cool Landry so unnerved was icing on the cake. Bears defense (with touch of Sweetness) 44, Cowboys 0. And, that's typical of this Bears season. Anyhow, when I call this my favorite, I'm sure Bears fans (and non-Cowboy NFL fans) of the time know what I'm talking about.

I know exactly what you mean.In the early 80's if you were a non Cowboys fan watching them get whipped always made Sunday special.

This was my favorite game that season. The 30 for 30 should have spent more time on this game. Hyped the San Francisco game due to revenge factor and the emergence of Fridge. Agreed it was great to watch Cowgirls get throttled by Da Bears! The key was Renfro’s fumble field position switched and the Bear D was fully unleashed.

I agree with you. I don't remember every game from that season (and we had season tickets!) but I remember this road game. I can still remember sitting in a Burger King eating breakfast the next day, reading about the game in the Sun-Times. This victory confirmed they were a great team, a special team. It was so exciting.

Jim McMahon was injured in 86 by a Packers player when he bodyslammed him to the turf and injured his shoulder with a cheap shot move. They had a 13-3 record but they missed him in the playoffs.

@@earnhardt3613 Bears had a BETTER defense in '86 under Vince Tobin, though. Letting Wilber Marshall and Willie Gault go - Ditka wanted to prove he could win with a bunch of nobodies; he LOVED the scab team of '87 - was the death knell. And McMahon's inability to stay healthy.

I just remember that a couple buddies of mine in school were Cowboy fans, along with our first period teacher. The next morning at school all I was saying was 44-0, 44-0, 44-0!! Our teacher was so upset she actually gave a speech about "being a good sport and not rubbing it in after a big victory". Good ol days

Honestly, if I die with this the only championship I ever seen from the legacy of George Halas, I'll be admittedly nonplussed but content. Watching this as a kid at 7 then Jordan for years after was absolute magic, there's no other way to describe it. Also, going to The Fog Bowl with my pop has to be the most historical event I ever 'saw' live. 😅

This was NOT the Cowboys Thanksgiving game of 1985. But as fans we understand how much the NFL gets wrong.
