Tim - it never ceases to amaze me the watches that you get your hands on. Thanks for bringing this gem to us!
Extremely impressive but hideous. Looks like the bezel is loose as well. Whilst definitely not for my style (or budget) in terms of finishing and complication it's extremely impressive
The bezel movement is just kind of how it's assembled. After looking it over, there's some calculated play in the way it moves on its base, which is joined using clamps to the top of the case. It's tough to describe exactly, but it's kind of like the way bracelet links are put together. We may ultimately opt to service this watch mechanically at Bulgari without polishing it, but I suspect the bezel is as it's always been.
Best,
Tim
Had to comment.
Firstly, great video Tim. You gave this watch the air space it deserves.
I find this watch very surprising, considering Genta's background in understated luxury.
It is an extravagant piece.
Will investigate more of his brand.
Does it come with a hearing aid for the minute repeater?
Rose gold cases do tend to dampen the sound of minute repeaters unfortunately :(
"AH" is making it even more valuable : initials of Prince Abdul Hakeem of Brunei.
Known as one of the wealthiest Royal families and eldest son of Jefri Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei, Prince Abdul Hakeem Jefri Bolkiah is known for his participation of the men’s skeet shooting event at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic games representing Brunei, his passion for gold and his opulent taste.
Having established close relations with members of the Royal family of Brunei, Gerald Genta has commissioned numerous examples of custom pieces to members of the family including the present timepiece.
That would make sense...it does look royal
Great watch! The dial is a blue lace agate ! It was the favorite stone of Gerald Genta! Wonderful!
Louis XIV meets Steampunk with more than a whiff of Liberace. All that’s missing here is a couple of marble garniture urns. A high horology curiosity which probably occupies a niche within a niche. That said, there’s a watch for every wrist and someone out there will love this piece.
Good ole Gerald was doing well with the movement, still had something with the case, but lost it all with the gold half circles that cover the face.
This is the latest Piece in your PERMANENT collection.
Lol
The comments section is as expected for the internet. Beautiful piece of horological achievement .
stop huffing your own gases, this thing is diabolical

Holy Mary! That is quite something. Again we get to see the king of watch nerds giving his insights.
Wonderful.
A contemporary antique!
@$395,000 what a bargain! 😁 I could never spend that kind of money on a watch when I could buy a Lambo for similar money, but at least this one compared to a Richard Mile walks the walk, and can talk the talk! 👍✌
@@stanwilson7040 Nah, jk, I'd have to have a lot of money to spend $400k when there are so many homeless, and hungry people on the streets. That business better pay me at least $20 million before I could justify buying such a frivolous toy, watch or car.👍✌
@@stanwilson7040 Too funny! I am a staunch republican, "BRING BACK TRUMP"😁 I do slide to the middle/left on some topics like homelessness, and drugs both of which should be legal, and heavily funded. Our prisons are filled with drug addicts which is ridiculous, the war on drugs is lost, will always be lost, and there will always be a homeless population. Both need to be addressed. 👍✌
Great buy this would have been. Could see it going up in value.
I liked the next iteration of this. Incredible!
im not ready for that
This looks like Alice in Wonderland. Absolutely crazy stuff. Love it
So a Pasha and an Octofinissimo walk into a bar. Liberace is playing…
Jokes aside, this is a marvel of finishing, and I’m blown away at how detailed you dive into this, Tim. But, this is so incredibly vulgar, and I’m a huge Genta fan, most of my collection being made up of his designs. I can respect the marvel that makes up this piece of horological history, but my goodness is this just so tacky and excessive. I don’t even know where to begin…and the fact that you mentioned there being a perpetual calendar version of this on top of all the crap on the dial makes me have trouble keeping down my dinner. The finishing is detailed for sure, and no doubt this comment section will be a dumpster fire, myself included, but, I wish you luck in having to offload this. It’s definitely a piece of history…but goodness.
so GG is also a watchmaker and movement finisher? If so how come he's never brought up along the likes of Kari, etc
Many watchmakers worked at the Gerald Genta factory, which was established in 1969 and still exists as Bulgari. The second Geneva-based GG factory that built this watch closed long ago.
Best,
Tim
That's one of the most unique looking pieces i've ever seen, I am curious what type of person see's this and goes. YEAH gotta have that. Cool feat of Horology but that case is really ugly, but boy if you want to get noticed that's your watch.
Invicta has really upped their game :P
One (baller) watch to rule them all
OMG! The case looks loose? What is happening with that omg!
Thats Wild a real interest piece
Would make a RM appear tasteful
Hard to justify a watch that costs as much as a house on which I frequently couldn’t even read the time of day because the case is blocking the hands.
Really cool Tim!
Amazing!
Love it.
Whoa. That's quite something horologically, but it isn't attractive...
That’s an understatement 😏
Wow
I've never seen some many gadroons
Gerald Genta = Genius
the Sonnerie is rather Petite
👍❤️❤️
Krasan SAT...
Wtfff is that lol
Amazing. But it is definitely the pankcake watch, because of.. well you can tell haha. Who's hungry for some complications? 😁
Umm…well that’s a acquired taste. Never seen anything like it. I admire it’s movement if not the looks. I was surprised to hear it’s a 90s watch, because as Tim mentions, it’s very much of the 80s. Sorry, I can’t any longer…this is the ugliest watch I’ve ever seen!! Absolutely hideous 😂
Agree
Wow that’s garish….Someone raid Barry Manilows house….to each their own I guess…
I just checked the dictionary under the word ‘hideous’ and there was a picture of this monstrosity.
That is…. Interesting…..
Would be gorgeous as a pocket watch. Looks absolutely horrendous on the wrist
I'll be honest... it looks like costume jewlery.
this is the ugliest watch ive ever seen
LOL
Hideous. Just my opinion.
A poor watches’ idea of what it wants to be if it ever makes enough money to be a ‘rich’ watch????
In this case, ‘more’ is definitely less. A lot less…
It may be a legend, but it's a hideous one.....
Ohhh dear..it's hideous!
That is one ugly watch. Amazing, but outstandingly ugly. Haha.
(This is a joke. Although it is ugly.)
A bit too tooly and utilitarian for me but interesting to see.
Wrist jewelry
Wow! Not something you see every day.....or want to see every day....
That is a big mess.j
Isn’t GG defunct? Who is able to service this?
I think it's Bulgari since they bought GG
If you own this piece, You'll be able to afford a good watch guy.
@@mr.hodlbitcoin Would the owner be able to afford an optometrist?
