      Yes I can completely relate to this Aaryn! I’m actually getting a puppy soon so I thought I’d switch to watching UA-cam videos of puppy training instead of bag videos to help me from wanting to find the next thing. I still like to watch bag videos since it makes me happy :( wishing the best for you but I love watching your content like it’s a new episode to a tv show I like to follow!!
      I’d love to see more comparison videos of your bags and maybe ways to style different bags too?

      If you still love shopping I know some people who go into personal shopping so you’re still shopping but for someone else 😅 haha. I also love how you style your bags so I’m not sure if there’s a future making your own charms or straps. love the puppy idea though or fostering dogs!

      @@things_i_fancy I would love to shop for others but man when I do I end up buying for myself too (one for me, one for you mentality 🤣🤣🤣). I'm trying to work my way through that and start posting deals again to my community page...I think I'm over the dog idea - with the kids schedules it wouldn't be fair to the puppy to add one at least now anyway. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!!!🥰

    Bag fatigue is real. Most of us who are bag lovers are actually bag addicts. 😂 And like with any addiction, there are adrenaline-filled moments of excitement and then comes regret, selling, then withdrawal and the cycle starts all over again. I have gone through the “sell and repurchase” sequence so many times, it makes me wonder if I’ll ever find purse peace.
    I now have a rule that in order to add one more bag to my collection, I first must choose one to let go. This rule is currently helping to curb the impact of my impulsivity, both emotionally and financially. Thank you for this video. I am right there with you.

    • @thehandbaghousewife
      @thehandbaghousewife  5 місяців тому +3

      That's a great rule to have - I have been trying to do the same (one of the bags coming is black and I sold a black bag...I really should have sold 2 or 3 though!)...I find it exhausting to buy, try, have fails bc of style and quality issues and dishonest resellers. Returns are stressful, selling is stressful. I'm going to make a video about all the reasons to be content with what all l have in addition to the fact that I have a great collection already:). Thanks so much for watching and for sharing - I appreciate you!🩷🩷🩷

    When I made that video it was the lowest point in my life, my mom was losing her battle with cancer and passed less than a week after that. I had no interest in anything especially bags. I do think it is very normal to go through phases of wanting more and wanting to stop. I personally have been having fun shopping my own closet this year and using the least used. It sounds like you are happy with your collection and that is a good thing!

    I can’t even TELL YOU how much I relate to what all you said! I’m 47 and I have been obsessed with purses since I was just a little girl. I have an immense collection and yet I still seem to want more. It’s like it’s never enough, even though there’s absolutely no way I can ever even carry all the bags I currently have! I don’t really want to let any of them go, either. I have days where I start feeling so overwhelmed simply because I have so many amazing bags that don’t even get carried. I find myself feeling stressed over NOT using them, all the while searching online for my next “fix”! It’s exhausting and honestly, sometimes I feel it’s a real (dare I say) sickness! I don’t know if it’s the thrill of the chase, or the excitement of the anticipation of a mail delivery, or WHAT exactly, but I, too, really need to slow down on my purchases and simply just use and enjoy the beautiful collection I already have.
    As far as future video content ideas, I think just showcasing one of your existing bags in each video would be great. Make it a feature where you show it with outfits, out and about, and the different accessories you use with the bag of the day. In doing so, it might rekindle your love for what you have, and get some of your forgotten bags back into a regular rotation!
    -Emily

    I applaud you for your vulnerability and transparency dear friend. You have a STELLAR bag collection that's the best I've ever seen before. I think life is a journey and if you feel content in your bag space, it's time to move on to healthy hobbies to keep your mind busy. I've come to the determination it's okay to look. I have a one in, one out rule, and that has served me well. My suggestions for you are I would love a closet tour. I would love a top bags of all time video. I would love your top 5 most practical bags for daily life.
    I would love for you to do take a couple of your bags and rotate them through the week and report in how functional they were, and if you still like them as much. I am blabbing on. I love Coach and try to keep my collection around 30 or less. I also think about a new bag as to what it will compete with. I love my collection right now, so finding something to sell is becoming more difficult. ( I am starting to think about selling some of my bigger bags that I don't use often) I also plan to retire in 5 yrs and know I do not want to spend money on bags once I retire and will probably sell more , as well. Perhaps moving towards more videos where you discuss the knowledge of the quality of bags and brands you've accumulated over the last several years and what you have learned. Imparting those lessons learned would be beneficial for the handbag collecting community.
    In that vein, videos that discuss wear and tear and how to restore bags as well. That way, it's not just like you said focused on acquiring new things. Tips on how to approach luxury brands when there is a defect and how to sell and buy preloved bags safely in 2024. I have an LV bag I've been wanting to sell but am nervous of getting scammed. Hi Aaryn, I truly appreciated your genuine self-check questions. As a bag lover, I enjoy a variety, always. I have gone through seasons of enjoying my bags, no-buy months, then in search of bags that have caught my eye, then selling loads of bags (like I'm doing now)..it's a cycle of seasons. What I've done in the past is stop my email ads, lessened UA-cam watching so as not to be influenced. There are many seasons where I'm good with what I have and am not interested in any current bags. For me, I'm downsizing and it feels so good all while enjoying each bag that I'm keeping. I would like to see different topics on the bags you have, maybe how they can be worn in different seasons, styling them with different outfits, just to name a couple. And for discussion videos, I always like seeing the BOTD. I agree and can relate to all that you've said. Thanks so much for the discussion! ❤

I have about five or six bags of my list right now and it’s cheaper to pick them up in Europe! I know what you mean though…i’m tired of selling also and the resale market demand has also decreased. I don’t consider myself a collector. I buy bags to use them but I have two daughters so there’s a lot of “I should by two of these one for each daughter.” My daughters are not even into handbags right now! Plus at the end of my life, I hope my life will be valuable.

    Hi. You are too much. Your video resonated with me. I started rhsi fascination with handbags later in life in my nid 50s!! It’s become obsessive. Take me thru your journey. I just sold 6 bags I didn’t use as much or liked as much (from when I didn’t know how to purchase) to FASHIONPHILE to get the Chanel 22. Now I only want bags I want like LV leather, and Chanel and yes a Long champ for work! And oh a Loewe. It seems like I’ve gotten more in turn with what I want versus trying to get each designer bag. I’ve also thought I need a puppy. Like you I love the UA-cam videos. Why not! It’s entertaining. Idea for you tell us how old were you when you got your first one, what have you learned and at the end of the day how do we arrive to a collection that is reasonable.

    I’ve got an interesting idea which could work on a luxury goods channel based in the USA (as you have tax laws which allow a business to claim business expenses even before business profits have been made). Buy the luxury good, get the cost back from the government in the form of a tax refund so it has cost you nothing. Then sell the luxury good. Gift the proceeds of this sale to a person or family in need…conditional that you can make a video on how the funds have positively improved their life. People have to follow you for x months to be eligible for the gift, and you choose the lucky recipient according to your own criteria. I think a whole new audience would be attracted to the channel - people in need and those who want to follow the sociological experiment. Your audience will be uplifted and enlightened by the journey, and you’ll inspire content creators - including yourself! Turn UA-cam and consumerism on its head - get people consuming beautiful acts as well as beautiful things.

    • @thehandbaghousewife
      @thehandbaghousewife  5 місяців тому

      This is a very interesting idea, but in the US you don't get all the money back from business "losses", only what you paid taxes on...and that's only if personal use isn't ads v a factor (then you get less than that...). The highest tax rate is just over 40% I believe so that is the highest amount one could get back in taxes and only if there is income within the family to offset that expense....but thanks so much for the thought provoking idea!

    I can completely understand your feelings. I know this from book lovers/readers (like myself and their channels or communities)...sounds maybe strange, but it's relatable as also ragarding books there are so many people how have like 50, 100, 200 or more unread books at home and always buy more, research for them etc. and there we say that it's about two different hobbies - reading books and collecting books (and all related to it). So also for you it's a hobby and collecting makes you get addicted to the hunt and the research and I think it's actually not about enjoying the bag primerly. That would be the passion for wearing beautiful handbags and is different to the collection/hunt. The hunt is about the excitement and of course the intrinsic need to get something new although you've two bags on your way. But I think mentally you already put a "done" on these bags from the collection point of view and your inner hunter is ready for the next catch 😅. Definitely this could become better when you look for another hobby or even activities to get yourself distracted or occupied otherwise (maybe working out or yoga, pilates, gardening, reading, learn something new etc). Concerning video ideas, I love how you always dress up your bags. Maybe you want to focus on that showing how to dress certain bags nicely with foulards (how to bind them...), chains, belts. Or you could do videos where you show good alternatives to pricy bags/brands or outfit/bag videos where you show how a bag can stile up your clothes. Or videos "if you like this, try this...". Maybe do some tutorials "how to..." (e.g. clean, store, search for good bag deals,...). Chit-chatting videos are also nice. It's interesting for me to listen to you (and others) about thoughts and opinions 😊. I hope you'll continue with your channel!

    I love chit chat videos and it’s mostly what I’m watching now. I am pretty happy with my bag collection and unboxing is not what is interesting me anymore. I chased all the bags I really wanted in the past years, owning them all now makes me stop buying more. It might be easier because I’m into classics and not really a seasonal or trendy bags person. All of it to say that I was waiting for my last bag and I got it this week, now I will live with all these bags and it will be loving to style them and rotate them all. I have to admit that big unboxings or the channels that unbox many bags a month are turning me off at this point. I just don’t want to be that person. I want to follow and discuss with creators that have a moderation mindset. It helps to reflect and live in abondance instead of always chasing the new thing.

    • @thehandbaghousewife
      @thehandbaghousewife  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes the chatty videos are amazing! I'm so happy you have reached a point of contentment - there are so many things about being a crazy collector that are actually hard (i.e. the chase for one!). Thanks so much for reaching out and enjoy those bags!!!🩷
