Yesterday I watched Guardians of the galaxy 3 and loved this song so I had to learn it!
Amazing lesson man. thank you so much.
cheers Roe :)
the thing that I like about this tutorial is that he leaves the bloopers there, he doesn't care about looking like a perfect player who doesn't miss a single note
cheers friend.
This is an absolute unit of a song! it’s so simple yet so captivating and catchy!
yeah!
That was good lesson. I absolutely loved this song and whenever I hear the intro it transports me back to when I was learning to play guitar in my room. I can smell my old room lol
I can smell my old room too, but for completely different and much more disturbing reasons
Haha. I think I get the picture
The intro is actually based around a looped sample of British telephone tones - it’s not organ.
i defer to you
Correct
Penguin café orchestra
From an Australian movie Malcolm
Based around but played how if you dont have a loop?
Awesome!! This song is about to be a big hit again.
love this song.
Okay so once again I’ve commented before on you being the greatest but here’s the real trick, as I’m watching this you haven’t taught me the song yet, because I’m 4 minutes in and have learned how to play it like three different ways. You are a legend.
aw thanks george - glad we click :)
forgot about this groovy song
how dare you :)
The year was 96 , that letterman performance in the dress was a weird version of the song. Your organ interpretation was super funky dude. You rock dude.
ah '96. a good year for spacehog.
I wish there were a better way for me to express my appreciation for ur videos.😢😂
Great lesson, Ryan! You’re the best, dude. 👍
WE ALMOST HAVE THE SAME LAST NAME!!!!
Know I'm incredibly late but thank you so much. For the longest time I just simply played a B chord and bended the d and g strings for the "Whoooo oooo oooh" part. Now I can actually play the song!
woot woot! get it mac
Why is this a guilty pleasure song this song is great and deserves much more attention
because i don't have a spacehog playlist
@@RyanLendt listen to "The Chinese Album." You're welcome.

Good job. Thanks for lesson.
So my band decided to add this to our repertoire recently. Once I heard it I knew that I wanted to watch your video on it. I just knew in my soul you’d have a good video on this tune. I was right :-)

Please do I feel alright by Steve Earle. Great rhythm. I think you will make a fun lesson
thanks for the request Nick :)
Now this vid is popular again cause of Guardians, great job!
thanks!
I love your videos!
Could you please do a pearl jam-red mosquito guitar lessonn???
stijn van der meeren Yes Red Mosquito
oh boy the red mosquito votes are piling up!
Loved the tutorial. Loved how you realized the bass riffs and vocals. It’s easier to create it then to replicate it. Enjoy your covers sir.
Interesting fact about the part you called 'The Organ', it's actually the sample of a project called Telephone and Rubber Band by Penguin Cafe Orchestra. I think it fits in very well with this song though, adds that extra touch, y'know.
Rad Info!
@@RyanLendt It's also played using harmonics when they performed it live. The original song uses a sample pitched down.
Thank´s man!
hahaha I love that song :)
sounds weird but i discovered this song last month october and i liked it
There is a second part to this, E, F#, E, F#, muted E, muted E. I always thought it was played on bridge notes but maybe just a mono track (no reverb) making it sound like a touch tone phone. Correct me if I'm wrong
Cool video, good personality,, and could finish the lesson with a play along with the song playing. Or would copy rights get in the way?
copyrights, and the fact that playing it through perfectly would octuple my production time. Thanks for the shout and for stopping by T!
Really enjoy the content sir.. You really should play the song your pushing. Helps keep the right tempo when you start to transition.. yeah we could listen to the song itself but its different and far more effective when its right there on just the one instrument and can be adjusted with a tap of the seek bar.
Do it in the intro and it will be a god send to the lesson.
No exaggeration - I think this song has the greatest bass line ever written. I don't mean to diminish Johnny's sick playing, but Royston's bass line, exploring the fretboard and bouncing around in seemingly different styles while still landing multiple catchy hooks is just... well, wildly unattainable for us mere mortals.
i don't disagree
Hi Ryan my names benny and i was wondering if you could please do cinnamon by stone temple pilots its my fav song and theres not a single video teaching how to play it.
what's up Benny! Got your email - I'd be happy to do it before homecoming... when is homecoming? I never do this but please please send me another email a couple weeks before homecoming if I haven't done it yet - lots of requests it's nothing personal they just get lost in the shuffle, though I write them all down!
Ryan Lendt hey ryan homecoming should be the last Saturday in September but im gonna need all the time to learn the song😂😂 thanks
At the time, I actually rang the radio station to find out wtf this song was.
that was the right thing to do
I have a request for a song that has no lessons or no tabs. “Mighty KC” by For Squirrels.
thanks for the idea Eagle :)
I commend & so appreciate ur detail. I wrap it all around that cool bass line & yep on a LP while im singing lead. thanks for the help I could never figure out that all important lick in the chorus. climax.. "that sounds fine so ill see ya sometime give my love to the future human kind ok its not ok! & while its on my mind theres a girl who fits the crime for future love that im still to find BUT IN THE MEANTIME ill love the ALL of u! awesome underrated crease song... thanks bro
I think this is one of the very best songs ever written! I'm glad you liked that dear friend
@@RyanLendt i knew when it first came out .great groove, cool retro like "all the young dudes"style. from a non-bridge era. this one has a super climactic bridge.i could go on.. this is future composition inspiration. thank you.
Shhh...I think Jack Black himself is jealous of how entertaining this Rockschool lesson is. I mean the amount of technique and theory you crammed into this off the cuff while still playing better than me should earn you at least one McSurf n' Turf Deluxe!!! ooh yeah brother!
:) thanks brotha!
Trying to wrap my head around some of the theory here and progress beyond just copying songs. Where does the C major chord come from? The song is in A major, right? Does the bridge change keys? Is it just borrowed? It doesn't seem to be from the relative minor. How do you do that? Is it just fiddling around? This may be both too simple and too advanced a question, I just really don't get it.
that's exactly right - the song sort of dances around a bunch... it's mostly in E, except for when it goes D A E, oh and also the whole chorus i just realized, which is an A key progression, and also except for whenever it hints that it wants to be in G for just a sec when it plays the G chord, and then the bridge is totally in G (Bm, and C are the 3 and 4 of G, Em is the 6 - which is why I like Em the first time in the bridge and then E major the second time going back into A... but like i said i think they just play E power chords and there is no right answer there) love that you were thinking about it!
@@RyanLendt Hilarious reply Ryan, just Hilirious.. It is 100% correct.. I picked it by ear many moons ago, and it's spot on...
Sweet demo... my Stratting in the cover band is now better.
Super Sweet Tele... my bank balance is fighting me on this one.
You make great tutorials... I imagine you reach beginners and pros alike😎
why thank you for that Bob - glad to be of service :)
spacehog - only a few please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
awesome! another spacehog request!
Video starts with "This song has the craziest base line" . . . . 7 minutes later " I forgot how the base line goes." Meanwhile Kermit is in the background trying to show him. (it's not easy being green)
teehee maybe i should do a video on the bass line. I'll have kermit show me first though
@2:50 I always thought it was a British telephone that was ringing in the background
that would be neat!
I'm baccccck... and heck yes.... Bass it up... fun with fat strings...
woo hoo!
Also the walk-down lick you play after the pitch bendy note on the G-string is not right.
it's certainly not what my ears wanted to hear either, but i spent a lot of effort hearing this one and I'm quite certain. In fact I'd be willing to bet $11 that this is correct - what is your purport Keith?
you are too funny, good picking too
:) thank you Rich, you clearly have an excellent sense of humor
It was 1996
Almost sounds like " closing time " song
6:28
Whoa you can sing?
I dabble
If you like Spacehog, you'll like Supergrass.
kind of all over the place...but cool. thanks
cheers Mike :)

:)
Jesus loves you and He died for your sins
No he didn't his death was for your sins
Yikes shut up lol
Wtf for...lmao this band is hilariously terrible

Get to the point.
