Asking people their favorite animé is an interesting concept. It’s always nice hearing other people’s insights on the type of shows and films they’re watching. At the end of the day, animé is considered a masterpiece on its own. Animators don’t get much credit, which I find unfortunate. Hopefully animators would get extensive recognition one way or another.

I feel like Death Note was the gateway anime for most forieners back in the day, but today it's Attack on Titan. Both are story driven and very unique. So great xD
I started watching anime 3 months ago,

I believe the last lady is Brazilian, and I have 4 reasons for that:
1) her accent; 2) Sakura was REALLY popular here in Brazil in the 2000s, along with Sailor Moon; 3) the fact that she used Sailor Moon as en example: for a long time, CCS was exibithed at 4:30 PM, right after SM at 4:00 PM; 4) the way she spoke the name of the anime ("Sakura Cardcaptor" instead of "Cardcaptor Sakura", just like the way it was named here in Brazil when the show aired, first on Cartoon Network and later on Rede Globo).
I came to this video waiting for someone to talk about Sailor Moon ! Haha... And I think for us Brazilians it's a bit shocking that nobody has even mentioned Saint Seiya, right ?!
@@edilainedias161 Also, no one mentioned Dragon Ball! The country and the age of each person changes a lot what their favorite animes are. Sometimes even the hemisphere makes a big difference - it's quite rare any Japanese mentions Cowboy Bebop (I've never saw it up today!), while in the West is quite popular and even considered a "cult" masterpiece.

It's fascinating how so many foreigners seem to be aware of and watch anime from Japan these days. I'm an old timer, and back in the day it would be rare to see anyone outside of Japan watch animes.
I think it's because it's so much easier to get access to now. I started watching anime here in the UK in the late 90s, movies like Akira and Ghost in the Shell, but you were really restricted by what was commercially available and what had been translated. Often we were getting shows that we're already 10 years old. Now you can put on Crunchyroll today and watch a show that aired last night in Japan.
Same for us French. We love One Piece. Although it's kinda old but it's still loved
I'm surprised no one mentionned Dragon Ball or Naruto.
Always Attack of Titans. Don't much like cuz it's bloody
I guess English speakers had a different tates.
My dad watched Speed Racer as a kid on American TV. (He's 60 now)
I'm not that old (28 years old), but even when I was a teenager, watching anime was seen as a pretty nerdy thing. Yeah there were people that watched it, but typically it was the nerdy/goth/gamer type of kids. I'm now a middle school teacher and almost all of my kids watch anime, regardless of what other types of interests they might have. It's just kind of crazy to see how it's all changed up.
It’s trendy now that’s why

I got into Anime in 1969 when stationed in Korea while in the army. It started with Manga - Manga books, on cheap paper, were used in the outdoor toilets of the villages. People would read them there while 'busy' and then 'use' the pages (always from the [Western] Back of the book first 😎)

Cowboy bebop, the only one I've watched and gotten different things out of each rewatch. It use to be about the action scenes when I was young, then the love scenes before I got married, and now that I'm a bit older it's once again taken a new meaning. It's beautifully layered from the surface stories to the deeper meaning.

I literally couldn't tell whether I have watched it or not, I had to google it and refresh my memories a bit to realize that I indeed watched the whole show back in 2017. It is really scary to know that I have watched 24 episodes of some anime and a couple years later couldn't recognize or remember anything about it 😅
lol it happens sometimes but yeah if you watch too much even you cant count its hard to keep track of it
I honestly prefer it that way. Anime kinda took me in as a kid, I was entranced. I found that I would want to watch and enjoy an anime just as much when I rewatch it, as the first time I watched it. The closest thing to this feeling for me is waiting some time (for me, I dont try to, but usually end up waiting like 3-4 years later) before rewatching it again, forgetting alot of minute details or maybe missing them, so its like a whole new experience for me again.

I don't get how people have this negative view of liking the popular animes, like saying "I know its basic" about Attack on Titan. I think its popular for a good reason and it makes sense for people to like it. Especially more so considering it hit popularity in its first season. It makes sense super long running animes would be popular as well but in a different way. It says a lot about the story or the way it looks or both that an anime can hit the levels of fame AoT did in its first season alone

How come Japanese ppl don't know cardcaptor sakura? 😭
I‘m so happy that some people chose fma as their fav!!
I think most of the young foreigners are interested in Japan and love Japan because of anime. And then you go there and find out whole another beautiful world just like in anime.
if you'd ask me, my favorite anime of all time is K-ON. it's music genre, it's chill and funny, and it actually made me learn guitar
Ditto, as an SoL fan I find the lack of Slice of Life in this video disturbing lol.
I watched K-ON 11 years ago 🙂
@@Felixtheonee inspired. i cannot watch about music anime and then i suddenly become one. years after practicing and i finally did it. it may sounds ugly to you, but it did happened to me
Was nice to see someone mention Angel Beats. Not too much KyoAni love though, eh? I think one person mentioned Violet Evergarden (which I have not seen myself). I guess it could also depend on when someone really got into anime. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya pretty much opened the gates for me (I wasn't into the Dragonball and Gundam shows which seemed to be on TV after school. Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo slipped past me until I got to them in the late 00s or early 2010s). So then I eventually watched, Clannad, K-On!, Kanon, Nichijou and a couple others from the studio.
The guy who said Golden Boy seemed so spot on as a Golden Boy enjoyer haha.
My favorite ANIMES are old-school anime which are SAMURAI X, DEATH NOTE, YU YU HAKUSHO, DRAGON BALL Z, and GUNDAM..
My boy really said golden boy. A man of culture..
