Excited to check out The Cat and the Canary! I remember watching Black Mask on VHS from my local public library growing up and I feel like it was more on the brutal side. Not bad but not incredible. But I’d also love to watch it again as there aren’t many great modern action movies.
I'm absolutely in for THE CAT AND THE CANARY, a great silent film choice to inaugurate Eureka in the US!
Eureka don't seem to release much of anything I want these days. For about two years I waited on them hopefully announcing Anthony Mann's The Tin Star because they'd released a few other of Mann's Westerns only to my surprise to see it announced by Arrow this year. Too much Asian martial-arts films & not enough Golden-age Hollywood titles anymore for my taste. Great for fans of that genre but I rather more variety. Thankfully we have Criterion for that.
I recently watched The Cat and the Canary, and I absolutely loved it. I've got the US Eureka disc pre-ordered. It was actually down to $20 a couple weeks ago, which was a steal!
UK collectors will wanna import these to get the rating-free slipcovers. Lol.
already ordered black mask it will be my first eureka title that i didn't have to import!
Black Mask looks interesting though wish u could elaborate on the Fuzziness ....and quality transfer, is it like DVD quality? do u mean film grain ? fuzz was used in 80s for dreamlike scenes.
Is it true that you can not buy EUEKA in HMV ?
