- I finally get to check out the wonderful second box set of Shaw Brothers classics, restored in HD and released by US company Shout Factory. Featuring films such as Brothers Five, The Shadow Whip, Devil's Mirror, The Water Margin, Delightful Forest, Heroes Two, The Flying Guillotine, Dragon Missile and more, I share with you this gorgeous set with follow up reviews on each titles to follow each day afterwards...

Regular viewer here too😀 Fantastic looking box from Shout Factory, but they would be better off releasing each title separate in a nice plastic case with cover art etc. in a box like this! Hopefully 88 Films will release the rest of the Shaw Brothers catalogue here in Europe 😀
Thanks :) I do love what they are doing with these and helps keep the costs down a little. They also look quite nice alongside each other on the shelf. Haven't heard if 88 are going to do more, but I reckon they will :)
At least they're not doing two movies per disc, and keeping it a film per blu ray. Not a fan of what Criterion did with the Jackie Chan box 😬
Enjoying revisiting these SB movies and sets - not cheap but mostly good quality however seems like Vol 4 was rushed out with little remastering
So I've heard. Will be interesting to see :S
I've noticed the biggest grievance with these sets is the audio transfers. Some fairly wonky stuff at times. But I feel like it's the charm of the era 😅

Just got this box set about a month ago, definitely enjoying this one a lot more than the first volume. Not a fan of all the Kenjutsu sword clashing stuff, so I'm happy to see more hand-to-hand combat and better story telling. What was your favourite films on this set?
It's been great to see the change over the years throughout the sets. I loved so many in this box though, so that's a tricky question lol But the most are well worth watching!!

I loved the 2nd set, it's superb.
A word of warning, Shout have really dropped the ball with the 4th set. Rebel intruders is so colour saturated. Sword stained with royal blood looks awful, the IVL dvd release is way better looking. And the 3 films from director Tang Chia looked washed out.
The Brave Archer and David Chaing /Ti Lung boxes are stunning as is the 3rd set, but the 4th is really disappointing.
That’s a shame. I wonder what happened.
@@marka3108 no clue, all of the other sets the quality has been on point, it's not a problem with my player or anything like that.

@@invincibleasiaofficial Brave archer set was great, it's not exactly easy to follow story wise but I probably prefer wuxia over fist and feet, can't beat a bit of fantastical nonsense!
Yeah I have them all on DVD and enjoyed them. Would be nice to upgrade :)
