- We have been inside for 3 months and James' hair hasn't been cut since June, it's time to cut it, Deli style!

I love it when my hair dresser starts cutting my hair and IMMEDIATELY shrieks in horror
Ok, so I'm a hairdresser so I'm trying not to judge too hard on this one lol. Cutting hair can be intimidating for someone who has never cut hair before and has little experience. Trust me, I've been there! The rule of thumb with guards for clippers is 1 is the shortest and the higher numbers are the longer guards. You can also adjust the blade to go up 1/2 an inch with the little lever on the top side of the clippers near the blade. This helps with blending tremendously! And try to loosen your wrist, relax, and do light passes with the clippers. This can set you up for easier blending as well. If you really dig in with the clippers and make heavy passes this creates a lot of harsh lines that can be a pain to blend later on. Also, wetting the hair on top before you cut it can make it easier to cut. The technique you were using while cutting the hair on top is called point cutting. This creates more of a textured and blended look and it's also a great technique to use with really wavy and thick hair. The more angles you use while cutting the hair can help you find the longer sections. And lastly, try to have a guide while cutting the hair. This will help to make sure that all the hair on top is the same length and you don't have sections here and there that are longer than others. Just some tips that made men's cut easier for me. The more you cut his hair, the more comfortable you'll get with it. All in all, great job for your first time! Sending love to you both and I hope you're happy and healthy! :)

I took cosmetology when I was in high school and haven’t cut hair since. But I’ve been the “hairdresser” for the men in my family during lockdown. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how much I remembered.
Suggestion if you have to cut his hair again... Brad Mando has a good tutorial on home haircuts for men.

This turned our AMAZING. My hairstylist aunt would also agree.
Also, my friend bet her dad that she could learn a complicated jazz song on the piano in 4 days. If she won, her dad would dye part of his hair blue, and if he won, she’d do extra chores for a week and only get half of her weekly allowance of 25 dollars. She won and her dad bought semi permanent blue hair dye that will last 6 weeks before starting to fad3, and after 8 weeks, it should be totally gone. This is his first time dying his hair at all. Apparently, my friend and her brother are really excited for this moment.

Excellent job for a first timer! My first try on my husband's hair was just ok, but after more practice he preferred my hair cuts vs. going to the salon. Go Deli! Props to James for being such a good sport. Taking down the beard a bit is always a requirement with a hair cut, balances the face 😄

I think James and I have similar hair texture! I always cut it when it's a little damp so I can see the wave and curl pattern, and I don't brush it if it's dry. If I brush it when dry, it's hard to see how the hair will lay.
