@@cf4461 On my 2015 Altima the bushings are cracked causing the car to vibrate a lot when I go 60+ MPH. I am also told this is what is causing my tire treads to be worn unevenly.
My local mechanic wants $658 for both lower control arms to be replaced on my 2005 Maxima. I recently fired them and doing everything myself. Up to almost $1000 in savings already in the last month on various fixes on 3 different cars, and yes, I'm keeping track of savings!
Nissan just sent out a recall for this problem for 2013-2014 Nissan Altima. I have an appointment tomorrow to the dealership to change both of them and a wheel alignment. Good video btw.
And they were going to almost charge me a thousand to fix my arms smh fuck that. Do it myself and buy the parts for only 180 brand new. Right on man a full video of someone actually showing how to do something piece by piece.
You made this look so easy brother, thank you. What are the symptoms of having a bad lower control arm though? Because I have a nasty clunk on my front drivers side suspension and don’t know whether or not to do the full front end (lower control arms and both inner and outer tie rods) or just do the tie rods.
One symptom is when you break, you hear a thump every time as if the engine is lose or something. I had changed all 4 engine mounts on my altima 09 thinking that was the issue. Turned out to be the control arms, don't know which side, so I'm changing both. I confirmed it one day as I was changing the transmission fluid and noticed that the driver side control arm had a little dent as if it was knocing metal on metal.
Question! Why not just relive the axel nut and the two wish bone nuts to give you the free play to make sliding the control arm in? Should make it easier and not having to struggle? Good video. Have to replace them tomorrow personally. But having an impact driver imma take the tire off and the rotor off the axel so I have play! Gave me how I will do it! Hopefully it’s faster and easier!
I was unlucky enough to have mine completely break in half while driving. Made it to PepBoys and when they diagnosed it, they said it would cost 1147 for part sand labor. I said no way I did this over a pothole, and once I looked it up there was a recall for my 2013 Altima SV as it was listed a manufacturer issue.Problem is, with this coronavirus situation all Nissan dealerships are closed so I'm left deciding whether I can find another place to do it cheaper or suck it up and wait it to open for the foreseeable future. Just my luck!!!
Set of 2 Bushings is $30 on ebay. If the arm is straight and the balljoint is good, can you swing out the arm without loosening up the balljoint and replace the 2 bushings while the arm is still in the car? I know, I am cheap.
Hello Dullah I have 2014 nissan altima 2.5L S and I change my control arm twice and used aftermarket part my control arm bad again this is 3rd time please help me junkyard part is good if oem better than aftermarket because this time I'm planing to buy control arm from junkyard please reply me and help me thank you
Hello friend, sorry for my english, I'm from Brazil, and I have a Nissan Altima 2014, only year and model sold in Brazil, and here it's hard to get spare parts, including I need these front suspension trays or the replacement pivots my trays, I embroidered with polyurethane where it originally came from rubber .. anyway, I would like to know if I could send the money or buy through eBay some parts for my Nissan Altima 2014. would it have any way of contacting you? whatsapp, email?
That's ridiculous! I'm a mobile mechanic and only charged $100. A little on the cheap end because this is my side hustle. If not, I would've charged $175 - $200.

Excellent Video!! I'm about to tackle my wife's '14 Maxima and this lays it all out!! Thanks!!
Why are you replacing this part on a 2014 already? Just curious.

Thank you for reminding me I could get parts at the junkyard.
Hell no why get parts at the junkyard cause those parts used there not brand new or not it cheaper to order your car parts online
My mechanic tried to charge me $1500 just for lower control arm thank you for saving me from his scam
That's insane. I was given a quote by mavis tire to do both lower control arms and labor for a total of 420$ and that was this past saturday 11/16/19
I was quoted $360 last week to replace 1. Im gonna go to the ju k yard and get one from there and replace it myself. Looks easy enough.
The stealership quoted me the same thing!
good god....

I love the trick with the open end of the wrench at 2:55, I need to remember that one :)
really good trick
Thank you for illustration guy... look simple you did.
I'm a diesel mechanic and this is a hard job right here. It's not as easy as it looks.
Once you follow the step you should be good... I just switch to diesel mechanic
@@DULLAHGOSOHARD I got it taken care of. Yeah that's good man if you ever need work check out Yellow freight they need mechanics.

Great tutorial video, bro!
Thank you
Thank you for the video
I would remove the break disk. The disk seems to be in the way and it looks like it is cutting into the ball joint cover.
good Job.
So this is what “Sanka” is doing after winning the bobsledding championship for jamaica 🇯🇲. BOMBACLOTTTT!
I have a question but why doesn’t one of my ball joints go in my steering knuckle 🤦🏻♂️
Good video! DIYers, remember torque specs on those bolts and I’d also say to add some anti seize prior to new control arm install. 👍🏼
Great video. Thank you. But using an impact without safety glasses. ? No. Please wear safety goggles
Thank and well done my boy.🤘🏼
Bless up Genna good work
What do you typically charge for something like this bro?
So if you need to replace your ball joint you need to replace the lower control arm ?
Yes
Man that’s more money and work
Honda’s you only change the ball joint not the whole lower control arm thanks
Nice video my man very informative.

@im ok12 go on google and type in Nissan recall lookup and it'll ask for your VIN number. It should tell you whether you have one or not
What are the torque specs on the three bolts?
I don’t think I’ve ever seen him torque a bolt
great video bro nice and smooth
how long do it really take to remove control arms
Good video, the nuts need to be torque to specs after

I would buy a new genuine and save money. This part you don't want to fail, especially the ball joint.
Can the caliper/rotor just be removed for easier access?
You can but you dont have to
Another video I saw jacked up the rotor slightly to get it higher up.
Thanks!
