We went to Toronto for my sister's Uni registration this summer and had a Infiniti QX80 2022 as a rental car. It was amazing to say the least. Since these types of cars isn't popular, nor accessible in Turkey, that was a great experience to drive and ride inside. I'm sure this new model is better but that car has a special place in my heart.
love this interior design! I can appreciate how Infiniti is remaining unique with its interiors and not jumping in on the awkward ipad trend sticking out the top of the dash!!
Doug constantly mentions these folding rear seats that can pivot with a car seat in place, but there is no room for the seat to move that far forward with a car seat in place.
came to the comments looking for this. Doug clearly has no kids. there's no way a car seat is sitting there while I'm moves into the back of the seat in front of it. Forward facing or rear facing.
I will do with this just what I did with my Q70. Wait for one to come off lease and scoop it up at a huge depreciated price. A big, powerful well thought out SUV. I couldn't care less what other people think of what I drive.
Imagine in the world Toyota and Lexus flagship SUV’s turbo V6 engines blowing up prematurely left and right, Nissan and Infiniti are now the more reliable ones😅
It truly depends on experience owning them. My parents bought a 2007 sequoia brand new and it’s now mine and has 276k miles. My uncle has a 2006 qx56 he bought brand new and now has 300k miles. My parents bought a 2014 qx80 brand new and it now has 90k miles. We love my sequoia bc it has been extremely reliable. We also love my mom’s Infiniti because it has been pretty reliable and comfortable. I agree the quality of the Infiniti in terms of the interior is better, and we have never had any major issues with it, but we just had a catalytic converter go out. My uncles qx56 has some electrical issues and not all the buttons and lights will work. So there are pros and cons to both, but we love both in their own respective ways since we use them for different reasons.
The diagonal scroller ball on the steering wheel is brilliant. It’s something so little that makes such an impact and makes you wonder why no one has done this yet.
I would argue that the QX80's exterior design stands out more than the Mercedes Benz GLS but not as in your face as the Cadillac Escalade or Lexus LX. It's a solid middle ground in that regard. Furthermore, I think I would take the new QX80 over anything the Germans are offering especially in regards to interior layout. Infiniti actually put some effort into making the interior look like a nice place to be unlike BMW and Merc where they just stuck a screen onto the dashboard/center console and called it a day. I could care less if the technology isn't up there with the likes of Mercedes since adding more technology doesn't make a car more luxurious.

20:40 The point here is that the consumers WANT the V8 power and reliability but the government won't let them because of "environmental" concerns. So automakers make twin turbo 4 and 6 cylinder vehicles that have the SAME MPG as the V8's from 20 years ago. Take a look at the 2005 Ford Expedition (3 row SUV), which cost half of this Infiniti, and will outlast it.
To add to that, an unstressed V8 will last forever. A smaller engine having to haul around a large vehicle will be stressed, and forced induction will make it worse.
I work as a car interior designer I can confirm that the steeringwheel thumbcontrol stick is mounted diagonally to give the driver a more comfortable way of scrolling through menus when holding the steeringwheel since the thumb automatically has a more diagonal position when doing this.
I'm glad some automakers are putting their headlights lower on the bumpers for their taller vehicles. This means I'm less likely to be blinded by them in my 03 miata as they cross the double yellow line on a turn.

YES! Why don't more cars have dashcams built in? The tech is ridiculously cheap, and if it were integrated from the factory on most cars, that'd make it incredibly convenient.
I have wondered this aswell. Maybe pressure from software manufacturers who also support dash cams as a stand alone purchase to stop car manufacturers stopping all the extra sales.
Just like the digital rear view camera mirror. It should be on every vehicle. Some may not like them because the depth perception is off. I get that, but many times, it's difficult to see out the back. People in the back seats, stuff in the rear of an suv, or sloped rear end coupe style vehicles all make it hard to see so a camera mirror is better than not seeing. Plus, the people that complain obviously don't realize you can just turn it to a regular mirror and then stop complaining. They can make it more of a 3D image giving depth. There just needs to be two cameras next to each other instead of the one. That would be easy.

Infinity QX Series have always been a pleasure to drive. I had one for about 2 years (It was part of the fleet of a company I worked with and they gave it to me for work purposes). Absolutely smooth specially for long drives. You feel like you are driving a yacht on land. Camera birds view was super useful parking a huge car like this one.
Only thing that I do notice about this one is that the design keeps looking more and more like a Range Rover. But great car for sure. I never had a problem with it.
This gorgeous vehicle is for sophisticated and thinking individuals. Infiniti hit a home run with this SUV. This is also the best driving luxury, full-size, body-on frame SUV.

Lexus is a Toyota, and the new LX cost is way more than this in most configurations

Cool boxes are underrated -- we've had one in our Grand Wagoneer and it was very nice to have, especially on hot summer days.
The rear climate controls were put in after the front climate screen was decided, because Infiniti now had all these real buttons with nowhere to plug them in.
2:45 the headlights in all designs of the SUVs came down due to a regulation. Same thing in the Escalade, Yukon, Armada, etc.
What was the regulation? Would them continuing to provide headlight auto leveling not have done the job?
I don't know why they use that toggle switch for heated seat in the 3rd row where most people will forget and leave it on and no one cares about.
I had a used car that had a toggle switch for the rear window defroster.
It must have been left on since the car was new because it was on for so long that the light bulb illuminating it when on had burned out. That light was only lit when the switch was on.

Everything is more expensive. Inflation alone raises prices. And there's nothing wrong with greed, greed is good. Companies are in business to make money. Infiniti isn't going to sell too many of these so they might as well maximize their per unit profit.

@@r81365 It's no more reliable than anything else. 99% of the time it's the customers fault, not the vehicle. I've seen how little of a damn some people give to maintaining their car or even letting it get oil pressure before driving off from a dead cold start at wide open throttle.
Anything will last if you take care of it, to a point, but not the point you probably think. American cars can outlast European stuff which is built to last the lease period. Ask any second-hand owner. And while sure, Japanese cars are known to be reliable, I'd argue in recent years, it's been hit or miss just like everyone else.
The integrated dash cam needs to become standard on other vehicles. I'm surprised this is the first instance that I've heard of in a car

I genuinely believe this and the Armada are far better products than the Sequoia. So far, they seem to have done everything better in these products.

That interior is simply gorgeous!

@7:20 That bottom screen is awful
@@jawadulkarim9498 the camera setting makes it look that way
20:40 The point here is that the consumers WANT the V8 power and reliability but the government won't let them because of "environmental" concerns.
To be fair manufacturers are preferring smaller displacement engines because of emissions as well. It’s not always about mpg.
I work as a car interior designer I can confirm that the steeringwheel thumbcontrol stick is mounted diagonally to give the driver a more comfortable way of scrolling through menus when holding the steeringwheel since the thumb automatically has a more diagonal position when doing this.
That dial on the steering wheel is genius!!

Waiting for this car to be reviewd by him. Glad I'm able to experience this on Xmas Eve
