    You’re getting it Morgan! Try a little more high rev pre obstacle and clutch pop it with a bit more speed/hop over and up the tough stuff. It’s amazing how these bikes will launch and leap up stuff - but it’s a paradigm shift on those areas - to charge thru up them is opposite of what survival instincts tell you- shit and commit! When you bounce up/over stuff like that - momentum is your friend- less falls.

    lol Re: Jeff... not to publicly badmouth anyone but without even watching his video I can imagine what he might of said - anyone giving you a hard time over disagreeing with preacher Slavens just havent watched enough of his videos.
    Nice terrain on the 2nd trail, I'm over in Moab, I havent ridden that one, would love to check it out, just have a busted thumb ligament to heal!
    The carb bikes require a bit less precision than TPI bikes, they are softer. I wonder if its different with the TBI... Hard to assess how good a bike is in that stuff as its mostly about skill - I like that you took it out there as your everage "non hard enduro guy" - bike sounded good down low! Cant wait for the XCW version to be out, even though frankly in the 200+ hours I put on my new TPI last year i havent had a single issue, I wish I wasnt slowing the bike down.
    Also to everyone giving advice on how to ride this - I think Morgan knows what momentum is. Momentum up big steep rocks with no run up.... Sure, just gotta execute that perfect blip, with the lunge forward then balancing the wheelie at the top!
    Morgan - who I dont know seems like he is a modest guy.... - I am pretty sure this is way bigger rocks than the video shows, like most youtube videos with the camera mounted high up

    I am impressed. Our rides occasionally take us through shorter sections that are like this that we endure to get to other stuff, but this video was relentless gluttony for punishment. Wheelie and mini splatter into the obstacle and paddle like a spastic duck technique, sometimes with my eyes involuntarily closed for a brief second, is the top of my gnarly game and I only have so much of that in me. I got exhausted for you, just watching this 😆 Sidewinder. etc out there is spicy enough - some short sections of moderate abuse, and the rest is super fun trail.
    Also amazed the bike was able to handle that without a fan, especially at 6K elevation. Ya, it was cool out, but the air is a little thin. The average fanless 4 stroke would have gone into full Old Faithful mode inside of 5 minutes of that kind of terrain. That engine sounds great down low, super clean, never gives up.

    Great video. Love the way you went for it, and by yourself no less! Definitely huge! I could really feel your pain starting araound 31:00 - with the mediun sized rocks (flat ones acting like skateboards) that are over loose stuff and relatively sreep - definitely gummy territory. Was waiting for the steam to come and was figuring it was a cold day. Those were some pretty gnarly ledges on the last pitch. Looked like you were lucky on the clutch cover! The motor did sound like it tractored pretty well - makes me think that a 300 TBI with XCW gearing would be pretty awesome - maybe we'll find out next year?

    In all seriousness, I’ve been riding a ‘19 300XC the last 2 seasons. I wanted an XCW but, like you, I’m not made of money. The w’s either weren’t available, or were way to much $$$. I had to slowly add some parts to get it where I want it but I love that bike. I’ve learned how to ride it in all type of riding, from the knar to a little MX. I’ve learned to live with the suspension and, honestly, it’s made me a better rider. It also taught me how to tune suspension, which is a big win! Keep fighting the good fight Morgan!!! I’m here for it!

    Hey Morgan, Mike from Durango here. I installed that cone valve I got from you which I love love love. I want to give you massive kudos, not just for riding that stuff but for posting a video on it. As always the video does no justice. Of note, your cone valve was a huge upgrade from my well tuned stock AER setup when I road that terrain last year.
    One question I had for you is why you found it necessary to go up in psi on your TBT valves fork? I went down on the cone fork for comparison. If you can’t answer that then no problem. Also I saw that you ran you headlight towards the end of the video. Seems like the stator handled it well. I’m worried that the fan in these conditions will be a lot more draw and that the stator won’t keep up. Any thoughts?
    PS: everyone that knows anything about Moto knows to weigh everyone’s opinion according to their style. Don’t let the Slaven’s people get under your skin. Just keep plugging forward. I like you both for what it’s worth. Cheers.

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  Рік тому

      I went up in pressure just because I wanted to try it (I also tried going down) and the 5 psi increase seems to make it more plush. So basically trial and error which I definitely recommend people do. I am running the headlight all the time right now to test the harness and light and make sure it’s all going to work when it actually gets dark. You can run a fan on these but you can’t run a fan and a light at the same time.

The secret is keeping momentum and picking your line before you get to it. Those two things right there help out quite a bit. Then when your standing stay loose and legs open. Don’t pinch, let the bike move around. Just some tips that helped me. Keep the videos coming man. If we could all take ourselves a little less seriously from time to time. Thanks for the videos. Question for you, how does the new GoPro mini hold up without a removable battery? I won’t have a 2023 XC for a bit so might as well ask what might be in the budget. Thanks for what you do, I can tell you put a lot of work into the videos and the bike.

So, no, not all of us are disappointed about the comments on Jeff’s video on this bike. I appreciate your call outs; thank you!!

    Just curious. Why do you not like a pipe guard? Maybe it’s my ocd but I hate the dents.

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  Рік тому +1

      Great question. For these kind of dents it would help. But I normally ride faster stuff and I’ve experienced bigger (ride ending) damage with a pipe guard than without. The energy has to go somewhere and it can (doesn’t always) go to motor parts. I base my decision on what’s ride ending and what’s not. Not looks. I don’t like the dents either but I’ve grown used to them and I blow them out at the shop.

      @@dennyhorstman1994 You will love it if you do! So freaking good. And I forgot to mention those big crazy pipe guard/skid plate combos. For protection, they are the best, they just weigh a ton and if you live where there is a lot of mud (I don't) they like to fill up. But If I do a legit hard enduro sometime, I might run one.
