  • Gary's Beekeeping VLOG: Was a busy November taking care of our honey bee. Lots to share this month.
    We were cruising through the year. Varroa mite checks were 0's and 1's all spring and most of summer. Started getting 2's and 3's in August so we treated with good results. Spot checks in early November revealed miters have spiked 6-18's. Worst time as they were all building from a brutal summer. We were able to knock back the mites to 0's fast. I hope we aren't too late. Up next is consolidation then grading.
    Thats not that happened, it was a pretty busy November, they used to be quiet for me.

      I think I have a few more. What are your thoughts? Actually having experience. If able to start again. 8 frame deeps or medium 10 frame for brood chambers?

    I like that toy too, the problem with it is that the battery drains quite fast, least for me, I got the milwawkee option for battery plug; few days ago I couldn't finish one of my yards because I ran out of batteries, and I had 5 with me, one drained just heating the darn thing; I have the provap also, but some areas I don't feel like carrying the generator with me so this little toy comes in handy, but so far, with all the hype about it, I am not impressed considerind that I exchanged one problem for another, corded unit for lack of battery faster than one expect, and by the time you add the price of the batteries, is almost better to buy the bazooka and be done with it;
    Another think, I noticed your guy keeps is face way to close to the unit while all the crystals "recrystalize", its fine that your lungs are protected, but don't forget about your eyeballs, you don't want to go blind before you want, those crystals and one's eyeballs don't go well together, lol.
    Keep up the good work, I watch you and I like your beekeeping style.
    Dan

      Yeah, That was the first time out with it, I didn't realize our pallets would be so leaky. I think its going to serve our smaller out yards well, but not when they are concentrated. My friend told me to use one battery for heat up then switch to another for treating and back to start up once it cooled some for longer life if that makes sense. Thanks for the support, I feel this channel will teach me more than I can teach others.
