I have 2 Midnight Marvel, 2 Evening Rose, 2 Starry Starry Night, 1 Edge of Night, 1 Holy Grail, 1 Berry Awesome, 2 Luna Red and 1 Luna Pink Swirl. You could say I’m obsessed with hibiscus. 🌺
I have 5 midnight marvels that my father planted in some landscaping in the backyard buy didn't do very well so 3 years ago I took the planted and separated it into 5 pieces and they have done very well producing flowers now but the aren't really bushy like the ones you have there but they grow 7' to 10' feet tall now no exaggeration if I could send some pictures I would I have to tie them to tall shepherd hooks to keep them up but they have been beautiful ever year now and my mother and the rest of the family and friends are just amazed at how big the get now would love to replace a few in the front yard with some from your garden there 😀
I have a midnight marvel that i bought a year ago. when it came back up this year it stayed the same size as it was in the pot, when i bought it. Its only 12 inches tall. What am i doing wrong? I thought it was suppose to get big.
This is the best hardy hibiscus comparison video I've ever seen, even better than last year's video. 🌺 I absolutely loved the close up shots, the detailed observations of flower textures/ sizes, growth habits, and foliage shape/color. I purchased 3 candy crush hibiscus from you in June that look MAGNIFICENT, and now I may blow my savings on a few more varieties. 😂❤️ Thank you Heidi!!
Thanks for the comparison! I have started my collection and just purchased perfect storm and midnight marvel. Loved seeing them full grown in this video! All are so gorgeous!
Thank you this is amazing!!! Its been TOUGH to find the different hibiscus available or much information on hibiscus, much appreciated to see and learn!!
Love love loved this video!! Hardy hibiscus are one of my favorites!! We are in zone 8a NC and have tons of deer 😡and these are not part of the deer diet! We have 4 different types and they started blooming July 1 and are still covered in blooms and more still to come!! The newer varieties that have more petals and ruffled are fantastic!!
Fabulous! I love perennial Hibiscus❣ I planted Summerific Evening Rose, nice dark foliage in about six hours full sun. For any other Hibiscus fans on this thread..another one I planted is Summer Carnival, absolutely stunning with variegated foliage!
Great comparison video, exactly what I was looking for. I like many of them and have several already. The new one I liked was the Simply Hot Pink. Hope I can find it on the market.
Hi Heidi - thanks for the comparison video's - so informative. Have you or will you do a comparison on the Rose of Sharon's? I see the PW has a Purple Pillar and I was hoping to see something on how that grows both from a quart size all the way to full size (actually that would be great to see comparisons like that as well). Love your channel!
Rose Mallow are a little harder to do as they are not all planted together and I do not have mature specimens of all the colors in the trial garden. Purple Pillar when we plant it in a gallon in August starts off as a quart and byt the following summer that same gallon is about 3+ feet tall. So the pillars are a fairly quick grower.
I do love the hardy hibiscus. I enjoyed seeing the different sizes, colors, and the different flowers. I think I would like one of the puckering type flowers, but part of my love is the massive flowers. You can see them from so far away. Do they require a lot of water? I would love to put some along a back fence area that has no irrigation to see those bright blooms from a distance. I may have to try one just to see if it lives.
This should not be a first go to for the deer. They are said to be deer resistant. Now the beetles on the other hand, a BIG issue. I spray mine every year to keep them nice.
Could you help me identify a hibiscus in a garden I volunteer at where I am trying to identify all the plants. The gardens are all 20+ years old. There are two hibiscus with pink flowers and they have been called Pink Clouds since…whenever; but, we just noticed that the two hibiscus’ flowers are not the same. The “different” one’s flowers are the color of pink, and the same size, but it’s petals do not overlap each other like the Pink Cloud’s do, and like practically every other hibiscus we have seen do. I have found a couple of photos of this hibiscus on the web and they all just call it “hibiscus species, various colors”. Can I get a more specific label than this? Than you.
This is not on drip. I do believe it get sprinklers for its water source. You should be able to get these results with watering every couple days depending on where you live.
I planted 8 hardy hibiscus and only 2 are thriving in the second year. One didn’t come back from the winter and the rest are very small. I have been diligent in fertilizing and watering them so I don’t know why most of them remain so small.
I see somewhere where you have to protect them from winter damage in the first year planting, I did mulch with leaves and dead annuals and both came back, am in 7b
I think they are better suited in the ground in my opinion. Maybe if you are in a warmer zone you could try it but make sure the pot is very large as they have a big root system. As they like water.
I’m in zone 6 and omg my hibiscus is practically invasive. They look beautiful but are such a nightmare! The new babies have such deep roots and I have to work hard to contain them. Too hardy if you ask me!
This was an awesome video Heidi! I love these comparison videos! Question: I heard that if you cut them back a little once they start growing stalks you can cause them to bush out more? Is that true? I was too scared to try without confirmation. Thanks Heidi!! 🌸💕🦋🌹❤️🐝
I don't think i really matters, you know what we are talking about. People say things differently. Kind of like clematis, lots of different ways people say it, in the end we all know what is being said.
Why bother filming a video when you can't identify so many of the plants? Very frustrating. You are a big operation, with many employees. How hard can it be to assign an employee responsibility for checking plant labels before you video? Or here is an idea, hire someone else to do your videos who will actually prepare.
It all sounds great BUT this is not my garden. And some of these plants I do know the names of and cant share as it is a trial garden. I think we did a pretty good job of naming most of them. We do videos off the cuff, we are not a production agency, just a small business trying to share the love of flowers.

Glad it was helpful! There are so many pretty ones it is hard to choose.
This is my FAVORITE flower video! I love seeing all of the varieties in one place. Thank you so much.

Thanks, Heidi for the comparsions! This tour was very informative and "berry awesome" as well!
I see what you did there ;) Thank you

Love ❤️ the dwarf habit, dark foliage and puckering on the flowers of the unnamed varieties!
Me too!

Wow, I need those first two hibiscus!! 🌺
Aren't they pretty!

Thanks for your feedback!
I love my hibiscus. I have 2 varieties. They bloomed once but has buds to rebook. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching
Yes, although as for me, i love words and language as much as I love flowers! 🐝
Thanks for watching
I’m so excited for the white ones!!!
Aren't they pretty?!!
Appreciate the tour! It helps my need for a visual comparison.
You are welcome

The unmanned one before Blackberry Merlot is gorgeous! 😍🙋🏻♀️ I definitely want!
There sure are some pretty ones.
Hi,my plants the flowers full down before opening do you know why ? Thanks
Do you know where to buy summerific series in Europe (Belgium), as not seeing them yet in online shops and garden center here.
Thank you for asking. I am not familiar with any garden centers in Europe.
My favorite hibiscus n they are beautiful.
Yes they are!
I like the quilted look on those new ones
Isnt that great. That popped out to me right away, and their compact habit.
Thank you so much for this video! Loved all your different hibiscus!
You are so welcome!
Thank you Heidi. 🌺💚🙃

I’ll be adding that hot pink in for sure!
It is a nice color.

I would recommend watering every couple days depending on where you live and how hot you get. These typically like water.
Can your company try to cross the French Vanilla with a red Hibiscus to get a winterhardy orange Hibiscus?
We do not do any breeding. I am sure they are trying to get more tropical colors in these big blooms. I have heard orange would be hard color to get.
@@gardencrossings Okay. Thank you.
Your videos are always so awesome 👌
Thank you for watching!
All of them are beautiful🌸🌺🌸🌺
Thank you
Heidi you convinced me to add a hardy hibiscus to my garden! BUT I’m concerned about deer and do they have insect/ Japanese beetle issues?
This should not be a first go to for the deer. They are said to be deer resistant. Now the beetles on the other hand, a BIG issue. I spray mine every year to keep them nice.
I received a Texas Hibiscus that is growing in a pot right now. I started it with seed a friend sent me. Do you carry this kind of hibiscus?
I am not familiar with a Texas Hibiscus. I just looked it up, they are beautiful
Hi Heidi, I have one
Hibiscus left, (I moved house and took one) It has not flowered at all. Please advise. 🙏
Do you know what variety it is? Is it getting enough sun? When was it moved? You can email me heidi @ gardencrossings.com
What kind of hibiscus are these?I have not seen such types in India
There are part of the Summerific series. There is a good chance they are not in India... yet.
Has the white hibiscus been named yet?
Yes, but I am not allowed to share until this fall. Watch for it in the next 12-18 months😍
Beautiful. How long do they stay in total bloom. I know the individual flowers are short lived but how long does the shrub stay in bloom total?
They usually bloom here in MI for about 1 1/2- 2 months

Unfortunately I really am only familiar with Hibiscus from Walters Garden. Most of there hibiscus are newer varieties.
What do you feedthem?
I am in zone 3b. I have two cultivars. Blooming in September. Which one could be the earliest blooming? Thank you in advance!
that is a good question that I do not know the answer to. I can tell you Edge of Night is a late bloomer.
Do you have to cut them back before winter?
We do trim them back before winter, but it is advised to do it in the spring. ( we don't have time in the spring)
I will always cheer for you in Korea I'm looking forward to a great video. Have a nice day.
Thanks for watching from a far.
Do you know if this bed is on drip or can we get these results without constant watering. thanks!
This is not on drip. I do believe it get sprinklers for its water source. You should be able to get these results with watering every couple days depending on where you live.
In your experience what is the earliest blooming Hardy hydrangea? I'm trying to get a longer Bloom time in my zone 4.
Tiny Quick Fire, Quick fire Fab, Fire Light, Little Quick Fire, Bobo--- in that order.
@@gardencrossings Thank you!
Beautiful and expectacular.
Many thanks!

You may be loving them too much. Stop fertilizer and let them breathe.
What zone are you in? That maybe the issue. Also they like full sun.
@@gardencrossings I’m in zone 5
I see somewhere where you have to protect them from winter damage in the first year planting, I did mulch with leaves and dead annuals and both came back, am in 7b
I truly enjoyed this video. Are these plants still available for sale on your website? 🌺💚
Yes they are! www.gardencrossings.com/product-category/perennials/rose-mallow/
I'd love to know your views on planting these in pots? Could I really be successful?
I think they are better suited in the ground in my opinion. Maybe if you are in a warmer zone you could try it but make sure the pot is very large as they have a big root system. As they like water.
@@gardencrossings thanks for getting back to me!
Just beautiful! How old are these plants?
This is a trial bed i believe some of these plants have been here 3 years others were just planted this year.
I’m in zone 6 and omg my hibiscus is practically invasive. They look beautiful but are such a nightmare! The new babies have such deep roots and I have to work hard to contain them. Too hardy if you ask me!
Some of the older varieties maybe as well as true natives. I have not seen this series have much issue.
Can you do the new video on hibiscus with name??
Here is an updated one. ua-cam.com/video/XTZfzy6zOXM/v-deo.html
Do you have a "store" or sell these??
We have a local store in Zeeland,MI and online at www.gardencrossings.com
DO THESE BLOOM ALL SUMMER
No, they generally start blooming the end of July/August and bloom for 4-6 weeks or so
@@gardencrossings Thank you

Yes they will branch out more, but be careful as it could delay the blooms.
Watching here my new friend support from Laguna Philippines.
Thanks for following.
How about “pucker up” for a series name!!! 🌺
Oh that would be a fun name.
please release the hot pink soon!
You just wait. There are 3 great new ones for 2024
Isn’t it about time for another butterfly house tour? I don’t think I’ve missed one.
Yes, I have one recorded just have to get it posted. It will be up 8/27
ชอบมากๆๆค่ะ
"I like it very much"----- thank you
Here i don't have any of those one.
You can order online at gardencrossings.com
Beautiful hibiscus. I'm not a fan of varigated
It is a different look and not as flowerful
Foliage is NOT pronounced folage! Why is it that almost no one in the horticultural field pronounces this word correctly???
