I was totally in for The Beatles in 1964 as an 8 year old. But, when The Beatles stopped touring, I hibernated from Popular Music, until the replacement for The Beatles came along. And so, in 1969, I found Led Zeppelin, and I knew, that Led Zeppelin was indeed the replacement for The Beatles, as the world's Biggest Band. This interview was filmed about 3 weeks after I first saw Led Zeppelin, in Ft. Worth, on August 22, 1970. That was my first rock concert, and it set the bar, very very high for all concerts I would see in the 1970's.
Saw the Beatles with my dad in '64 age 13 and, save one outdoor concert with various groups, nothing until Led Zeppelin in '72 in Sydney. Talk about chalk and cheese.
After two extremely successful years, the two friends know what they are doing. They are 'Becoming Led Zeppelin ', the biggest rock band ever. Thanks for sharing Eric ❤
I remember watching and listening to this interview for the first time maybe 10 or 12 years ago… it was actually the first time really hearing John Bonham speaking, he rarely did interviews. I’ve been a Led Zeppelin fan for 45 years… Bonzo has always been my favorite drummer! Incredible influence on me as a drummer!❤🥁
I agree it’s odd he took over the speaking, because it’s usually Plant in all interviews. Plant with buying chicken & goat feed, I don’t think he was or still is an extravagant spender. He had several vehicles, but none were really over expensive.
Led Zeppelin was so far ahead of their time. They were everything, prog rock, rockabilly, heavy metal, blues, and everything in between. THE MIGHTY LED ZEPPELIN IS THE G.O.A.T
What a handsome pair. Look at them sitting there on the Beeb with their cigarettes! I find it hard to connect this Bonzo with the massive power and sound he got out of his drums.
I think my favourite Beatles tune to hum is "Revolution #9". Gawd, these reporters' heads are stuck so far up the Beatles' arse. What's funny is that these same reporters were calling for the Beatles heads on the chopping block 6 years prior.
Zeppelin didn't do tv apart from some continental European shows in early 1969. They never performed on British or American tv, despite plenty of offers. The only did the occasional interview like this. They largely deliberately avoided tv except when friends of theirs were conducting the interviews such as Bob Harris in Britain or JJ Jackson in America. They didnt really trust the interviewers in general.

Never heard Bonzo so sensible
Good to see John Bonham smiling.😀
Did anyone notice the Superior quality of the songs even on film? It’s so much better than digital.
It's rare to see John talking, he seems so relaxed and calm... 😊
Many musicians who play loud speak softly.
A fantastic interview, Robert Plant and Bonzo enjoyed it, this is phenomenal!! Thank you.✌️✨
wow what a gem. thank you for posting this!!!
Been a Led Zeppelin fan since the 70s. Never seen this video till now. Excellent !! Thanks.

Always got a giggle out of old anniuncers saying THE Led Zeppelin.
Yeah they did that with The Pink Floyd too.
@@deadringer28 Besides those bands, I also liked listening to The Black Sabbath, The Deep Purple, The Grand Funk Railroad and The Peter Frampton.
@@russallertAnd The Who!. Oh… wait….

You were right about everything but the heavy metal thing, they weren’t, nor did they like being called heavy metal.
@sicotshit7068 it's hard to say that some of their songs aren't heavy metal
@@jimmyb4728 hard rock yes, heavy metal no
@sicotshit7068 ok I surrender
The second guy literally looks like every Beatle at once.. 🤣..THE Led Zeppelin.. priceless
Shortly thereafter he changed to a Zeppelin style haircut.
Good to see Bonham so well spoken. Cheers Eric
Wonderful Clip-Thanx LZF !

Good Friends 🤝 😊
Shortly thereafter the younger announcer switched from a Beatle haircut to a longer,Zeppelin haircut.
Great footage. But like so many of these from this time period the interviewers really missed an opportunity for a way better interview.
Anyone know the orchestrated version of Whole Lotta Love that Bonham is referring to?
It was played on the Top of the Pops for a while if I recall correctly.
If their first appearance on TV just happened only in September 1970, I guess something was wrong with the British television those days

Thank you,algy rythym
wonder if this clip will be in the becoming of led zeppilin film
this is where becoming led zeppelin should end, bigger than the beatles. About to play MSG
The Led Zeppelin. LOL
Musically there is no comparison. Like comparing a Lamborghini with a Ford Pinto. I don't think necessary saying which is which, right?
Led Zeppelin is the Ford Pinto, right?
У Бонэма голос как у подростка.
I think they were able to last 8 years and be were very inventive. LOL!
"The Led Zeppelin. " The interviewers are dorks!
the led zeppelin is just a passing fad
