I tried the way you showed in the video and it's very useful I've been searching for months for a way to connect my ps4 to the laptop and this way is so useful THANKS XOXO

I was so excited when I realized that I could connect my Switch via HDMI to my laptop, because I planned to record my first run of Brilliant Diamond when it comes out this November. I just tried now to connect them, but nothing happened, and now I just found out that it's IMPOSSIBLE to connect the Switch to my laptop via HDMI, unless I have a CAPTURE CARD. I think it's really dumb that I need a capture card just in order to connect my Switch to my laptop. If both devices have HDMI ports, and the HDMI port is SUPPOSED to work as BOTH an input AND an output, and if it works just fine when connecting the Switch to the TV, why the frick does it have to be SO complicated to connect it to the laptop??? First I find out that I can't connect my 3DS screen to my laptop by using a "power-USB" cable because I don't have a capture card, and now I find out that I ALSO can't connect my fricking SWITCH to my laptop via an HDMI cable, despite that being its very fricking use and feature! Stupid Nintendo... :/

Hey man, so I was wondering. Is it possible to just get an "HDMI to Thunderbolt/Type C" cable then, without using that HDMI capture card? since the HDMi port on the switch dock is an output interface, and my laptop has a Thunderbolt 4 port, which is definitely an input interface? I plug my game controllers through thunderbolt4 just fine. Also, I'm guessing you are "filipino" from that accent. . SO am I, partly filipino!
Yes there’s a bit of latency but not that bad, still playable based from experience and can’t complain for the $7 price tag. Maybe not applicable to all game types.
that is the fault of the capture card. if you want little to no input lag then you need to use an elgato capture card or another high end card that supports a fast pass through
@@CJPlaysBass I was simply explaining the cause of the issue and a fix to it, also you can get one for around 120 (atleast that's what I paid for mine a few years back) could be different now
Does the capture card still work? Have you tried lowering the output resolution of the switch in its main settings to like 720p to maybe help reduce input latency? Also, if you don't record and just view the gameplay off the screen. Does it still have a little input lag?
Hi! Great guide! For 7 bucks i cant complain.Input lag was pretty rough on max resolution but when i lowerd it down to 1024 it work just great! Usual hdmi port on laptops are made to function as a video output for TV or projector screens. For the video content, the hdmi capture card was used as an hdmi video input to your laptop.
I used Bandicam in the video since the settings are more straightforward and show that such configuration is possible. Yeah I heard with OBS you can eliminate the subtle input lag with the use of some settings.

I don’t have a macOS device so I cannot test nor verify its effectiveness. But you can try looking for OBS or Bandicam for MacOS.
