I'm in Atlanta Georgia and this was a great video. Having the kids involved is such a wonderful thing. I'll never forget those days fishing with my dad when I was a kid back in Savannah on Tybee Island.
"That's the wrong mesh size for cockles" haha! Good stuff mate, thanks for filming and uploading. P.S. excellent idea using an old buoy as the net bin, Grade A Kiwi ingenuity right there! Might have to steal that idea for myself. Chur!
Definitely steal that idea mate. Mussel floats make the very best net bins. They float and can be dragged anywhere and the net just falls out set and ready to catch. Chur!
Another great video! Mullet hard up against the mangroves, same on the mighty Kaipara, Love the smoking session, brings back a few childhood memories. Fresh mullet fillets are great cooked as well, but they are the best bait for snapper in the shallows. Cheers
never done the brine way before brothr. how long do you leave the kanae sit in it for?? looks mean asf tho and very efficient from splitting to brine then the smoker...was a solid watch brothr..always keen to try new ways of doing things...
@@MuddyFeet Remember you where ment to go home and do your laundry after dropping wifie at work. But you went fishing instead. 😆 🤣 😂 Where is the wife?
There all hiding up the waikato river 😅 see big schools when out fishing for trout I've tried putting on a treble and hooking them no luck thinking of taking the spare gun down
Good fish alright bro, is that a standard size mullet net? Cos you normally fluke the biggies in the standard size…you know if Tauranga mullet have turned up yet?? Merry Xmas bro ❤
I don't know. It's a fair question tho. We also don't iki flounder, herring, piper, mackerel or crayfish. Maybe this is something worth thinking about and possibly changing 🤔

About 2 hours is good in the brine mate. It's a great way to do mullet because they come out beautiful and clean before they go into the smoker.
@@MuddyFeet solid brothr...mean

About 2 hours in the brine is good
Nice bro!
Cheers bro 🤙

About 4 hours this batch pretty low and slow is best
Good to see you looking after my boat.
Do you do your own laundry now?
Haha im putting this boat through its paces. What do you mean about owning laundry?
@@MuddyFeet Remember you where ment to go home and do your laundry after dropping wifie at work.

Hahaha yeah bro that thing was an actual donkey mullet so stoked we got that one 🤙
how long that mully you think ? , frig it was huge
I wish I'd measured it mate it was definitely my biggest mullet ever. Absolute donkey
How long did you leave them in the sugar/salt for? That looks 👌
About 2 hours is good for mullet. Yeah mate they were delicious 😋
Great nearing bro 🎉😢
There all hiding up the waikato river 😅 see big schools when out fishing for trout I've tried putting on a treble and hooking them no luck thinking of taking the spare gun down
That's probably a good option 👌 Goodluck mate 😁😋
Mullet netting just az exciting az snapper slayn
Yea I think so too. I love it eh mate and I honestly think it's a tastier table fish than snapper. Cheers and tight lines mate
@@MuddyFeet yeah best thing 4 smoke fish n white sauce
Good fish alright bro, is that a standard size mullet net? Cos you normally fluke the biggies in the standard size…you know if Tauranga mullet have turned up yet?? Merry Xmas bro ❤
Yep just a standard mullet net bro. Yea those massive ones are barely meshed. Just stuck by a few scales. Merry Christmas mate 🤙
oh do you remember me im kahn and i offered you to come fishing me and my friend we didn't get much but we got 2 crabs
Hi mate yes I remember ya and thankyou for the offer 🤙
Wat size mesh do u run for mullet
Consider yourself lucky bro
We're all pretty lucky here in nz bro
1st 1 back cuz?😮
Meshed fish from a net.... nah it doesn't really work mate. Best practice in this case is to keep the catch Nd feed the family
One question why do we not iki mullet when we iki pretty much everything else🤔
I don't know. It's a fair question tho. We also don't iki flounder, herring, piper, mackerel or crayfish. Maybe this is something worth thinking about and possibly changing 🤔
@@MuddyFeetI imagine that the Japanese people might have the answer to mullet, at the least.
When did you grow up haha 😂
🤣 yea I couldn't lie to the little champion
Chur Lil bro
Teach us how to take rust off an old knife
I hope they taste better than they look coming out of that smoker, that's gross!
