I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the mad mullet shack. Cooked us up breakfast and a few naughty morning beers. Bloke is a proper legend, get amongst it mad mullet!
I'm in love, we have a similar fishing set up over here in northern Spain, we will be over to see you guys at some point in the future, say hello to king ash, the mad mullet, bull frog and obviously you mickey and all the dogs, keep up the good work gentleman 🤙🤙🤙
Any video to do with the commercial fishing industry is a hit with me, gives all the people that don’t know where there seafood comes from and how hard it is doing what they do,
Holding them in the well is a great idea. It keeps them close to the water temperature so they don't stress too much. I remember when I worked for Ansett Airfreight and the crabbers from Stanage Bay would bring in their live crabs to send south. They layered mangrove leaves in the styro boxes to ease stress on the muddies.
Awesome video Mikey. That Barra you missed hooking up was a bloody good size. I towed the Salvaged boat back from offshore. It didn’t have quite that much water in her when I was towing her though. Well done to all the boys for helping out.
Wow what fantastic video Mikey the mullet still has ten toes and fingers. Went fishing years ago out near Bing Bong at a boat ramp and then on a tiny rock island in the gulf. Fantastic fishing out there and big crocs😊
I’m not sure of the make and mode mate. But I’m pretty sure it’s just a standard boat that has been heavily modified. Like a Quintrex Fishseeker or something like that.

Cheers Man, I will get my Coffee ready @@MikeyCunninghamFishing
This is a plain old open tinny that has been completely customised. Can't just buy them from a dealer decked out like this. But they regularly come up for sale when crabbers retire or upgrade etc.
I asked last video and you produced the mullet for a full episode. Awesome mate I love watching your crew and you make an interesting watch with every episode. Keep it up man 🤙
Hey Newbie subscriber here- will you use all that chicken bait ??? Hey how can they keep breeding if you take Jennys all the time, but what a fantastic video you are a Legend mate. Thank You. Cheers Denise - Brisbane
Good question. We have covered this in other videos and talked about it in detail on our “Guys in the Gulf” Podcast. Basically the mudcrab population in the Northern Territory isn’t highly impacted by fishing or over fishing. It is completely dependant on wet seasons and how much rain each particular system gets. We don’t have a mudcrab population problem here. Professional crabbers have worked this river for over 30 years and there are still miles of crabs available for everyone after a good wet season. There is no science or data available that would suggest it’s a good idea to bring a law to stop jennys being taken here. Ash explains it a lot better than me on the podcast.
He would keep the old bait in a tub. Then dump it somewhere away from his pots on the way home. His theory is that he doesn't like throwing the old bait over the side near the pots he has just rebaited. Because he doesnt want the crabs having a free feed instead of going inside his crab pots.
Yea mate, Mullet is a legend. It’s relentless work. Check 90 crab pots. 6 days a week. Then day 7 is crab loadup. Hard life. But these boys make the most of it.
I was driving a APC through there in 95 on kangaroo 95 through the town and pub should of stopped in for a feed Army's a bit funny about things like that but
