You brought back so many memories for me. I lived there until I was 12 and my dad got transferred to El Toro. San Diego was close enough that we went back often over the years...the Del Mar Fair, Old Town (the Whaley House), camping as a Girl Scout at Mission Bay, Over-the-Line at Fiesta Island, the SD Zoo, Sea World (my neighbor used to be a pearl diver back when they used to do that - she was on billboards all over the area), would meet my dad at Bali Hai for dinner as adults...and on and on and on. Special place in my heart.❤
Every time I visit SoCal I always make a pilgrimage to San Diego my favorite city. Flowers blooming in January, sitting outside a restaurant at a beach eating lunch? What could be better. We sure can't do that in January in NC.
Such a great video! I have lived in San Diego (Atlanta transplant) for 32 years, and never tire of its beauty and interesting places! My favorite restaurant in San Diego is the Bali Hai. So great! We have both the Mr. Bal Hai and Goof on the Roof mugs. Never knew that Trader Mort's sold all of that memorabilia! Will stop there and get some tiki mugs soon, as we are going to Humphrey's for the 4th. (We go to Humphrey's every year for the fourth of July.) Will have to go to the False Idol too. A girlfriend of mine and I have been planning that for a while now. Glad you got to have a great San Diego experience!

We have that same statue at Memorial Park until November for their 75th anniversary celebration. We took my Dad & wife there when they were in town last weekend. Very cool. 🇺🇲💕😘
My friend and I wandered into the Bali Hai on Shelter Island years ago. We borrowed bikes from a neighboring hotel we were staying at. It is wonderful! I loved the throw back interiors. SD is an awesome city. I got married in La Jolla, which is also just stunning.

Shelter Island/Pt Loma is where we stay in SD. It’s the the total SD vibe you think of with the marinas, sailboats. Bali Hai is a classic. It’s away from all the bustling touristy SD spots. Much more chill. Humphrey’s is great too!! Oh those Bali Hai Mai Tai’s. Goodness.
My most favorite place I've ever lived was San Diego from 1984-88. I'm so happy to see that Bali Hai is still there. The view of the city at sunset is amazing when all of the glass on the buildings turn gold. My fav SD restaurant ❤🌴
My family would drive from Escondido down to go to the Bali Hai in the 60/70’s. After dinner me and my brothers would run around the exterior. Chicken of the Gods was my favorite dish.
Whenever I think of San Diego, one of the things that pops up is Devine Pastabilities, home of the torpasta. The web says it’s now permanently closed. Was definitely one of the more interesting Mystery Diners episodes. Happy Fathers Day to your Dad and all the other great dads out there!!

Yeah if you looked in the stern you'll see square hole sway above waterline. Was for inserting lumber. I've been to the Berkely ferry and the small steam powered yacht next to that. The Star Of India was called the Eutuerpe at one time. Had a different color scheme and rigging. One of the masts for the Star was torn off rounding the cape of good hope of South America. Before the Panama canal was built. I've been to Bali High. I think one of my uncles relatives had the wedding and reception there. Good atmosphere!!

I used to live in Pt Loma. Humphreys is a great place to see concerts, Bali Hai is great...and over the hill is Ocean Beach....ah miss it!

Those turtles are called red-eared sliders, we rescued two of them, then sold them a year later. Theyre very gentle but kinda high maintenance.
