Awesome.....the soundtrack really brings it alive too.....the natural beauty and not least diversity of Japanese nature, in tow with the accommodating, bike friendly infrastructure, brings a special ambience to the experience pouring through your footage.....good job....:-)
I see you have been busy watching a few of my videos. Thanks for the kind comments. The music I use, by the way, always comes from the country in the video. So my UK videos , for example, only uses UK music. The Nikko one you watched is one of my favourites. Another is Winter in Shikoku. Some are a bit long, especially the newer ones, so take your time!
I watched at least ten now, some haven't commented, wanted to see if the quality stuck - and it did, easily.....:-)......have you done any vids on architecture and simple living in Japan? I am a minimalist...:-)
No I haven't done anything like that. But I am also a bit of a minimalist. You can see some photos of the house where we live. It is very Japanese and too expensive for us, but what can you do? It's half way down the page: www.waddo.net/Indexpages/index_Japan_stuff.html
The best lake for camping is Motosuko, the final one. When you go down the hill from the village to the lake shore there is a giant camp group. I camped there a few times and thought I was wild camping but I later learned there is an office somewhere to pay. It's only a few hundred yen. You can easily find a place with no other people around you if you prefer silence. The place we camp now on the other side of the lake is rather hard to find. It is not visible from the road. I am sure you will have a great time riding in the 5 lakes area. It's great.
Yep inspirational. Just got back to Aus after 2 wks in japan , 2 x half days and 1 full day in Kawaguchiko. Just had to rent a bike and ride around kawaguchi lake. Wish I could have done all 5. Ohh well , next time for sure.! Thanks waddo and yuki.😎
I have no idea about maps.Perhaps they only exist in Japanese. If you check some of my other videos you will see we rarely go on busy roads. This is how I do it: I first find places I want to visit for sight seeing etc using the net and click photos on Google Earth desktop application. Next I try to find small often mountain roads to join up the places in a logical order to make a complete route. I often zoom in to street view in Google Maps/Earth to make sure the road ls empty. I try to avoid coastal roads and main roads because of the traffic and ugliness. I also use this method to find places to camp. Again, in my other videos you can see how successful this is. The only drawback to this is actually using Google Maps on a phone for navigation. Recently the custom made routes do not open in the phone app and instead it shows a similar but not identical google made route.
+waddo hey thanks, I will def be back in Japan for more cycling, it was really cool but some of those roads are mad busy! I navigated my trip by using free wifi at 7/11. Next time I will start at Hokkaido and go south
If I were you I would limit myself to Hokkaido and Tohoku. Or even just Tohoku. Focusing on a smaller area will mean a better experience. When you have plenty of time to kill, watch my Tohoku video from last summer. It's very long but the places we visited were fantastic. Next time we go there we will do the northern most area.
I just love these videos - they are inspirational - after watching I am always impressed and it gives me great motivation so thank you
Thanks again for your kind words.

Will check - have you done vids on prices in general in Japan?
Nope.
That area looks stunning!
Just like Yuru camp
Love the bike bags. Where did you buy them?
Just a local bike shop in Tokyo. Don't remember which one.
I’m planning a trip and gonna be going that same route. Thanks for the video, helps plan possible camping spots!

Yes next time do all 5 and camp! Glad you enjoyed the vid.
Great videos! I didn't know there was cycle paths so I used busy roads on my trips in Japan. Where do I get maps for cycling in Japan?

Hey great video. May i check where is the location at time 2:41?
It's near here: Oishi Park 大石公園. You have to turn off the main road about 1km before the park onto a path.
