This is a very beautiful place. I've been here three times, even climbed mount Nantai. I walked the whole Park. Now I want to come to Japan by bicycle. Your videos help me ))
Hi. Glad you are enjoying the videos. That's a good question. In all seasons except winter we both wear Keen sandals. Mine are the leather Newport model. When we go swimming and playing about in rivers, lakes and the sea we keep them on. They last for years. I wear mine at least 300 days a year. Even though they are sandals, In light rain my feet stay dry. I would also mention that we wear Smartwool socks. They are ridiculously expensive but after you try them for the first time you will understand. They are SUPER comfortable for every activity. Actually I also wear them also for daily life and don't have any socks that are not Smartwool. The combination of Keen sandals and Smartwool is perfect. In heavy prolonged rain we simply take off the socks if it is not cold. When it is cold, for example in the Tohoku video ua-cam.com/video/PGWR4Jz-wZA/v-deo.html we put plastic bags over our socks. I have waterproof leather Lowa hiking shoes for cold weather, but riding a bike in hours of rain still makes my feet wet. So plastic bags with sandals is not as crazy as it sounds.
Thanks for your answer ! I was also wondering what bikes you are riding ? I plan a cycling trip in Japan and am searching for solutions as to where to buy a good bike !
I ride a surly LHT and my wife a Spelialized Sirrus Comp. Bikes can be expensive here. I suggest you use the search linked below and type the name of a bike you are interested in. When the results appear you will see this text 検索ツール with an arrow. Click the arrow and choose the bottom of the two choices in the first column. This will remove any hits that are not Japanese web sites. You will be able to see the prices in Japan for any bike you are thinking of. www.yahoo.co.jp
Glad you liked it. It is also one of my favourites. Early August. Most places are super hot and humid at that time, but the high elevation keeps it pleasant and also keeps the weather changing.
Hi, i like the way you embed traditional Japanese music into the video. In Japan I can only camp at campsite, not along the road, that's illegal, right ?
