    Im for sure going to miss Coaster Stock this year, but I already purchased my tickets for Holiwood Nights. As far as the meaning of Coasterstock, thats what I loved, the big family reunion, meeting new people sharing the rides and the park we all love!!

      @prochjh-d5h the number one reason content creators don't get picked is they make it more about themselves than the event, and the second reason is for not having a filter/diplomacy in their content creation.
      Park personnel have outright said "don't be like that guy" to myself and others at invite-only events.

      @@TrueLies23 I clearly haven't been following coaster content creators long enough, because Beachcliff Studios seemed to have decent content. What's the backstory? (And if you don't want to share, that's ok too.)

      @@AdelheidCreatesTHIS IS MY TAKE. Plenty of others out there could add to this as it's been going on awhile but I won't speak for anyone's but my experience..
      So it all started back when TT2 was announced, the way he approached and talked to Tony, it was off-putting to the audience and Tony. I shrugged that off.
      What pushed me personally away was the passholder preview announcement. He vented a lot of anger at not being included because he bought a Canada's Wonderland pass to save a buck even though CP is his home park (the lack of self-awareness and audacity is astounding). He followed that up with a public "let's bury the hatchet Tony" to try to get into media day (again, self awareness and audacity). Meanwhile, I get 2 prestige passes and all add ons(2 of some add ons, one of the others) and make sure I spend a certain amount per visit so they can keep building great rides. Every year. For over a decade.
      He continues to pull his shenanigans and doesn't realize how today he is shooting himself in the foot for tomorrow's opportunity. When I made suggestions for how to share the good and the bad without turning off the park, or that growth is really important and he has to be able to see where he is turning people off, it was very much "this is all about the people and not the parks", not realizing by doing things like not putting cameras in people's faces unsolicited would net him a better chance to attend these events he doesn't get invited to, so he can share more with the people.
      The truth is it's all a lazy attempt to transduce our views into theme park cost subsidies.
      Guess which one of us rode TT2 for media day 😂 Jesse's choices today are his karma tomorrow.

    No conflict with ACE's event, but conflict with HWN? That's an interesting choice. I guess it's good for those who couldn't get tickets to HWN. Maybe the idea is that those who planned trips to HWN could still take the trip they'd planned for that weekend. I wonder how many will try to do both CoasterMania and CoasterStock?

    Based on the theme of the content of this podcast, it seems like they are taking things away overall. They made Coasterstock something that has been taken away from those who wanted to go, but were already going to Holiday World. You discussed them cutting hours and possibly the fireworks during the week, and them taking things away they could do that. If they did that, and I complained about it and they told me to "Suck It Up", I would tell them, "I will suck it up, as long as you suck it up when I don't buy a pass in 2026!" I don't know who is ultimately making decisions, but if they do make decisions where things are changed in a negative way, they will lose a ton of business. It's also not very smart when you have a Herschend Park within your marketing area that's growing and becoming a viable competitor!

  • @Spike-sk7ql
    @Spike-sk7ql 19 днів тому +1

    Im glad that they are still doing it. And I really wish Tony would make it so you still had to be a club member for coastermania. GOCC took a big hit when he removed that requirement.

    • @TrueLies23
      @TrueLies23 19 днів тому +2

      I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing, business-wise. The park doesn't want to do the event anymore so diluting the value is the best way to let it slowly die out. I think it ran its course in their eyes. It could use a reboot
      Personally, myself and a lot of the enthusiasts I know have avoided coastermania over recent years. Lots of great people who attend, but also a lot of those abrasive, bad mouth the park yet are there for everything type people. I just want to have a good time.
      I'll be at the Spring conference. Still maintain my ACE and GOCC memberships. All media day volunteer riders are usually members of both so that's my new "coastermania" the past 2 years.

    • @Spike-sk7ql
      @Spike-sk7ql 19 днів тому +1

      @TrueLies23 Sweet. Maybe I'll see you at the ACE conference then. I'm definitely keeping my GOCC membership because of some of the people. But I joined ACE last year to do the conference, and then got picked for tt2 media day riders! ACE membership paid off in a month with that!

      @TrueLies23 19 днів тому +1

      @@Spike-sk7ql I'll try to find you one way or another at KD/BGW! And oh man, media day was such an awesome event. Had the luck of our first ride being right behind MCN, the first cycle for the camera train, so our first ride is on video forever. Happened to be my birthday as well. Sometimes we gotta find our own way instead of following the pack!
      So many really good people in GOCC. That's exactly why I maintain my membership, everyone I'm friends with in the club has maintained theirs. The clubs are important for camraderie for me, not necessarily the events.

    • @ThemeParksByDon

    I have only managed to do coaster stock once. It was a great time. Don lead several of the walk backs, you could tell his passion for both the park and rollercoasters in general and could tell how much he enjoyed answering questions and being there. Coaster Stock sells out very quickly, even faster than Coaster Mania. The weekend before Memorial Day weekend always ended up be my daughters dance recital weekend as well, so many years I didn't try to get tickets. Anyone who goes be sure to attend both days.

      I enjoyed giving the behind-the-scenes tours and answering questions, whether it was at Coasterstock or other times during the year. The last Coasterstock in 2023 sold out in eight minutes. In 2022, it was 10 minutes. For those that want to go, be ready to pounce the second tickets go on sale.
