If only it was that easy to remove the bolt. I bought mine this morning and I still can’t loosen it. I’ve read the comments and the very helpful advice, but to no avail, and before anyone says get someone stronger to do it, I’ve represented my country at powerlifting, been world champion and I still train at 64 yrs of age, so I mistakenly thought that this bolt would be a doddle. How wrong I was! I’ve now doused it in WD40 and will now try again tomorrow as I’ve just decided I need a glass or three of wine to ease my furrowed brow. If that doesn’t work…it’s going back.

Yeah bullshit are the nuts that loose. Attempted a blade swap on my 1998 mower and I think I need something hydraulic to remove that. The spanner breaks your wrist.

Hi Callum, we understand that the nut can sometimes be difficult to remove and may need soaking overnight before it can come off, the video is there to show you the replacement procedure.

You can use an adjustable spanner to do this job

You can Gill, most new Flymo's are supplied with their own plastic spanner.
If using a metal or adjustable spanner do not over tighten as you may struggle to remove it after a while.

Yes I meant to say do not over tighten.

Hi Sally, it can be tight if the blade has not been removed before, try using a spanner and remember to use something to protect your hands while holding the blade.

      my nut was the same
hold an adjustable spanner in place and tap the blade with a rubber mallet
it seems easier than trying brute force strength.

Hi Darkest Serenity, try loosening it with something like WD40, soak it overnight and hopefully, it will come off.

tried that , still stuck fast
may ask my neighbor to try and shift it for me
one he's got Muscles and two he'll have the tools
it took 2 neighbors , one with an adjustable spanner and one with muscles lolz
      and I appreciate both.
Job done :) thanks for the vid and advice

How do I take off a very stuck bolt off of a Flymo turbo compact 330 I really need to get this bolt off to change the blades. I don't have a flymo spanner :/

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 років тому +2

Hi Brett, you can use something like WD40 to loosen the bolt if it's very stuck. If you have not got the spanner have you got a spanner to fit or some grips.

Hi thanks for the reply I have sprayed on some WD40 I bought a spanner and a wrench this morning from the hardware shop, the problem is that when the WD40 is applied and I use the spanner or wrench to try and loosen it it always seems to slip off the bolt and hit the blades. It really doesn't seem to be budging any I have also used a wire brush to try and remove as much rust as possible

Hi Brett, make sure you give the WD40 time to soak in and do some of the work for you. Maybe leave it overnight.

I will put some more on and leave it overnight and go from there, thank you again for the reply I will let you know tomorrow whether it has worked. :)
