Hey Thomas (@rightly TV) - everything worked in terms of getting my camera up and running here but I don't see the "Camera LIve" input inside my zoom video settings. Any Ideas? Ideally I'd like to use the Canon EOS Webcam Utility Beta but it's currently only for Windows so i'm trying to find a workaround that isn't to expensive (i.e. CamLink). Any thoughts?
@@coltonsoref5710 I believe Zoom made a change that broke compatibility with these additional cameras (I was using iGlasses and that went away too). I still see it in Chrome though (check Google Meet in Chrome. It doesn't work on Safari BTW).

Is there a way to adjust Canon DSLR settings (like aperture and autofocus) while you're going through this method? In particular, at the moment it looks like I have to manually focus. I'm not sure how to change the aperture or other camera settings as well. I am using a Canon T3i.
So I'm running into an issue trying to use my Canon 5D Mark IV as a webcam. I am able to get a good preview of what my CamTwist view looks like with my Canon Mark IV, but it is not showing as an option in ZOOM or any other streaming platforms. I'm also using Camera Live to connect my camera to my mac. Didn't know if you might have any suggestions! Thanks in advance!

Thomas, after watching this, I'm wondering if you connect your microphone to the DSLR input, or does that go straight to your computer? Can you post a similar video talking about how you integrate audio with this setup? And any additional software required?
I use HDMI interface and audio and video are sent along with no software required. I plug my audio desk output into camera and Im good to go (internal camera sound works also, just select in "audio input devices")
Excellent video! When using your DSLR do you set it to camera or video mode when using OBS/Zoom as a webcam? I found the camera mode much finer quality than video. Thoughts?
@@gregj88 Unfortunately for my Canon T7I, moving to camera mode puts gray bars around the raw HDMI output. I did a test this morning and camera mode does offer more manual control. For example, in camera mode, I can go to a lower shutter like I would taking a picture. But in video mode, the lowest I can go in manual mode is 1/60 and so the image is dark in low light. Video mode also fills out the entire 16:9 frame. Camera mode does not fill out the frame but is a smaller image than the canvas and puts grey bars. I may post my findings on my channel and play around with different lenses. The major down-side for my T7i is that auto-focus keeps the bars on my face and corners. the only way to get true clean HDMI out on my T7i is manual focus which removes all the bars. BUT, for webcam use and behind the desk stuff, it works great in manual focus since I'm not moving around like I would on an outdoor shot.

I have downloaded both camera live and camtwist. I was able successfully configure cameralive and camtwist but I am unable to select my rebel SL1 as the main camera on zoom and other programs. Any advise?
Did you ever get it to work? I’m having the same issue with the 6D mk 2. Everything is installed and working. Zoom is only showing my FaceTime camera as an option

Great presentation. Up until i got Camera Live installed, my Canon DSLR active, then installed Camtwist and the Syphon server but don't get the option under Video in Zoom to be able to select another camera. The Canon wasn't in the list, only the onboard camera on ,my MacBook Pro. Any suggestions?

I've just plugged hdmi cord from DSLR to computer but camera live is not picking up my camera for some reason?? - not sure if I've missed a step. Jucy Brucy I’ve had limited success I’m afraid. I have a collection of DSLRs and they have all behaved differently. The one I had hoped to used wasn’t on the list so I used my 5Dmkiv. I used the HDMI outlet but got nothing. As a last resort I used the USB outlet and could connect the camera. I could see the feed in Camtwist but have still not been able to change my input in Zoom. Limited success but not much help for you! I have a MacBook Pro with USBC inputs and am tired of using adapters for everything! I am always a bit wary of whether they work properly. Good luck!

This works for the M100 as well. it's not listed, but it works just fine and i'm SHOCKED bc nothing else on teh m100 works like normal. Now i can use a speedbooster and a 1.4 50mm for some sweeeeeet shallow DOF with autofocus. love it. Thanks so much for this
@@msanchesfroes This worked well. Follow the instructions and remove the code-signing signature from the Zoom app. Restart Zoom, and it will then recognize "virtual cameras", including the Camera Live, CamTwist stuff. It's a shame that Apple's paranoia over security requires this sort of silly tweak.
HELP REQUIRED. Great video, but after following all steps. Camera Live and CamTwist see my Canon 5D, but ZOOM doesn't see it as a camera option. I did enable the Siphon server and set it to Camera Live. Does ZOOM still support this? Does it support CamTwist/Siphon? Any ideas on how to troubleshoot?
I set up the 80D exactly as described, however there seems to be a significant lag when testing zoom. Are there any particular camera settings I need to adjust?

@@katmcwallace sometimes with zoom the best thing to do is to shut your whole device off and start it up again. it just takes some time to update itself.

Jim Dugan it was working for me just fine up until yesterday when Zoom updated. There is probably a line of code that was introduced making it more difficult to use certain software.
I did everything correct according to the video I downloaded both camera live and cam twist. My camera was read by camtwist and was active. But still, it wouldn't show on OBS or zoom. help ?!

Are you sure you installed CamTwist successfully? I was having the same problem and I had to change the security settings in my Mac to allow me to install third party software. After I changed that and I actually got a confirmation of the CamTwist successfully installed then Zomm was able to recognize my Canon DSLR

Good video. Thanks. PS: you may want to check to see if your microphone, shown in its shock-mount, is not of the side address type -- which it appears to be. In which case, you'll need to re-orient the thing so it works properly.

Same issue! I replied above. If I adjust my focus on the front most spin dial, it helps a little however the quality is still not as great as the camera itself. I think it is something on the Zoom side as I tried the same setting with Skype and it seems to be better, again still no where near as good as the camera.
I found the answer from @Robert Green below! He is amazing! "@Beyond Fitness I made it work. After you change the settings in CamTwist, you have to quit and restart CamTwist. then the settings take effect." So go into Camera Twist --> Preferences --> then I changed the video size to the highest resolution. Note - you have to restart camera twist and your video platform (e.g. Zoom) for the change to take effect!
I am interested in connecting my Canon LEGRIA HFG30 video camera to my iMac and using it as a quality webcam. Due to COVID, all of my seminars now take place online so looking to, and as you say, take my set-up to the next level. Would your setup also work for my type of video camera? Thanks 👍
@JucyBrucy - Also had this issue with my old Canon T3i/600D. Had to power off camera, then power on and unplug the USB connection (Canon-included cable) FROM THE CAMERA’s mini-USB out, and re-plug it in; at that point, it showed up in Camera Live. Just plugging/unplugging from my Macbook did not do it. That said, OBS is still not recognizing the camera as an available existing device to select... :-(. UPDATE: OBS finally picked up the EOS T3i, just took It several minutes (I was in Video mode); not sure why the delay. Although I can see it in the list of Existing sources in OBS, it is not an option for me to select in in the Preview mode, so still working to get video feed from Canon T3i into OBS.

@@thegreycompany531 If you add a source and click syphon client, it should give you the option of using Camera Live as the source getting your DSLR as your webcam.

Lots of jagged lines on my glasses and earbuds on the picture and just overall low quality/resolution. I’ve got the camera in full HD and the same with Zoom (also OSB). Any ideas?
Hi mate, Love the video but I have been stopped super early as CAMERA LIVE app do not recognize my NIKON D5300. At 4.05min in your video you show that the camera should appears but mine doesn't. I turned off the computer, used both usb port on my laptop mac, turned off the camera and on again, even delete and download again the app... Any tips? Cheers
This is great, is this better than just screen sharing the projector on OBS? like when you right click your scene and hit view projector (not full screen) then maximize the size of your virtual projector. and screen share on zoom. I noticed some audio latency.. does that happen in zoom for you using your way? thanks for the tut. best

This is brilliant. I was able to get the recording bit using OBS setup quite quickly. I'm using a Canon 550D and a USB 2.0 to Mini B cable and observed when I'm setting up the zoom capability, the live video is a bit distorted. Has anyone experienced any issues around this?
Is there an alternative to CamTwist? Camera Live seems to be working fine but my version of MacOs is too recent for CamTwist. I'm also looking to use the whole thing with OBS for streaming.
So for people that can not connect via the camera live software, I think i figured it out. When i opened the zip folder i didn't put the software into my applications folder. Camera couldn't connect. I dropped it into the applications folder and voila! it connected. not sure if this was the cause, but it worked for me! Good Luck!
Hello Your video it is amazing. Unfortunately this settings doesn't work in my case. I have a Canon 80d and i use i usb cable from my 700d camera, i follow all the recommended steps with no success, i switch off all the canon eos program in mac and also i turned off the wifi connection of the canon 80d. The message i still get on 80d after those steps is still "No Camera". Any advice??
This is great!! Quick question ... with just Camera Live, I am able to add my Canon EOS t3i (seen as 600D) as a source in OBS no problem via Syphon Client. But I've noticed your capture is much smoother (in terms of frame rate) than I'm getting here. The picture quality I'm getting is very good, bu the frame rate seems to be lacking (or lagging). Any idea what is going on?

Love this video...but I need help. When I connect my T5i through camera live, and then through camtwist, the video is choppy when I go to use it with google meet, or anything else..I am thinking it has something to do with camera live...as it is running at 100% cpu...I’ve tried using the elgato hd60s but can’t figure out a way to select it as a camera in zoom or google meet. This is an excellent tutorial. I initially set up on a late 2012 Mac running macOS Catalina 10.15.7 . In Zoom the video feed lagged noticeably, say a second or two, and there is a slight horizontal flickering as if a ceiling light is going (which it is not). In the Zoom video settings I had everything unticked. I have since set up on a MacBook Air 2017 and the result is the same. The Camera is the Canon EOS 700D 2013 (Rebel 75i/Kiss) which connects with a USB Mini-b (5 pin) into the camera and male USB A-Type version 2 into female USB A-Type version 3 on the Macs. I have replicated your settings in Camtwist Preferences and restarted everything. Any thoughts on this outcome?

I don't have syphon option on camtwist. I even enabled it from the settings, I reopened camtwist several times. However, I don't see syphon as an option. Can you help me? Btw, I need 4 hours of streaming, is my canon camera going to die or it will be powering from the USB that is connected to my mac?
Mate, I have Canon 80D but I heard that you cannot connect the 80D with your mac and you will need a capture card for the same. Can you please correct me if i'm wrong?
Hello. I have managed to get this working with removing the code from the new Zoom, however the quality is terrible. its all bitmapped. I'm using a Cannon EOS 1200D which should be ok. Figured it out by lowering the resolution in the EOS Utility program.

This works for the M100 as well. it's not listed, but it works just fine and i'm SHOCKED bc nothing else on teh m100 works like normal. Now i can use a speedbooster and a 1.4 50mm for some sweeeeeet shallow DOF with autofocus. love it. Thanks so much for this

Camera live is not in the list of camera devices on Zoom. Have done every step, and tried to disable "alpha channel". Any suggestions?

@@ConversationsZA You have to use an earlier version of Zoom. The latest update has a bug or something preventing you from switching cameras

Follow the instructions and remove the code-signing signature from the Zoom app. Restart Zoom, and it will then recognize "virtual cameras", including the Camera Live, CamTwist stuff. It's a shame that Apple's paranoia over security requires this sort of silly tweak.

HELP REQUIRED. Great video, but after following all steps. Camera Live and CamTwist see my Canon 5D, but ZOOM doesn't see it as a camera option. I did enable the Siphon server and set it to Camera Live. Does ZOOM still support this? Does it support CamTwist/Siphon? Any ideas on how to troubleshoot?
I set up the 80D exactly as described, however there seems to be a significant lag when testing zoom. Are there any particular camera settings I need to adjust?

@@katmcwallace sometimes with zoom the best thing to do is to shut your whole device off and start it up again. it just takes some time to update itself.

Jim Dugan it was working for me just fine up until yesterday when Zoom updated. There is probably a line of code that was introduced making it more difficult to use certain software.

Are you sure you installed CamTwist successfully? I was having the same problem and I had to change the security settings in my Mac to allow me to install third party software. After I changed that and I actually got a confirmation of the CamTwist successfully installed then Zomm was able to recognize my Canon DSLR

I've tried using my Sony a7iii with default Remote app by Sony and i get very big delay in OBS on my Mac OS Catalina 10.15.4. After your tutorial everything works great and this webcam video in other applications is great bonus.

Good video. Thanks. PS: you may want to check to see if your microphone, shown in its shock-mount, is not of the side address type -- which it appears to be. In which case, you'll need to re-orient the thing so it works properly.

Me too. I tried 2 different USB cables and different lenses also. Would love to get this working.
Same issue! I replied above. If I adjust my focus on the front most spin dial, it helps a little however the quality is still not as great as the camera itself. I think it is something on the Zoom side as I tried the same setting with Skype and it seems to be better, again still no where near as good as the camera.
I found the answer from @Robert Green below! He is amazing! "@Beyond Fitness I made it work. After you change the settings in CamTwist, you have to quit and restart CamTwist. then the settings take effect."
So go into Camera Twist --> Preferences --> then I changed the video size to the highest resolution. Note - you have to restart camera twist and your video platform (e.g. Zoom) for the change to take effect!

@@L1FEOUTLOUD I had this issue. You have to turn wifi from 'enable' to 'disable' in the camera settings and then it will work through the cable!
@JucyBrucy - Also had this issue with my old Canon T3i/600D. Had to power off camera, then power on and unplug the USB connection (Canon-included cable) FROM THE CAMERA’s mini-USB out, and re-plug it in; at that point, it showed up in Camera Live. Just plugging/unplugging from my Macbook did not do it. That said, OBS is still not recognizing the camera as an available existing device to select... :-(. UPDATE: OBS finally picked up the EOS T3i, just took It several minutes (I was in Video mode); not sure why the delay. Although I can see it in the list of Existing sources in OBS, it is not an option for me to select in in the Preview mode, so still working to get video feed from Canon T3i into OBS.

@@thegreycompany531 If you add a source and click syphon client, it should give you the option of using Camera Live as the source getting your DSLR as your webcam.

Lots of jagged lines on my glasses and earbuds on the picture and just overall low quality/resolution. I’ve got the camera in full HD and the same with Zoom (also OSB). Any ideas?

Love the video but I have been stopped super early as CAMERA LIVE app do not recognize my NIKON D5300. At 4.05min in your video you show that the camera should appears but mine doesn't. This is great, is this better than just screen sharing the projector on OBS? like when you right click your scene and hit view projector (not full screen) then maximize the size of your virtual projector. and screen share on zoom.

This is brilliant. I was able to get the recording bit using OBS setup quite quickly. I'm using a Canon 550D and a USB 2.0 to Mini B cable and observed when I'm setting up the zoom capability, the live video is a bit distorted. Has anyone experienced any issues around this?

Is there an alternative to CamTwist? Camera Live seems to be working fine but my version of MacOs is too recent for CamTwist. I'm also looking to use the whole thing with OBS for streaming.
So for people that can not connect via the camera live software, I think i figured it out. When i opened the zip folder i didn't put the software into my applications folder. Camera couldn't connect. I dropped it into the applications folder and voila! it connected. not sure if this was the cause, but it worked for me! Good Luck!

Your video it is amazing. Unfortunately this settings doesn't work in my case. I have a Canon 80d and i use i usb cable from my 700d camera, i follow all the recommended steps with no success, i switch off all the canon eos program in mac and also i turned off the wifi connection of the canon 80d. The message i still get on 80d after those steps is still "No Camera". Any advice??
This is great!! Quick question ... with just Camera Live, I am able to add my Canon EOS t3i (seen as 600D) as a source in OBS no problem via Syphon Client. But I've noticed your capture is much smoother (in terms of frame rate) than I'm getting here. The picture quality I'm getting is very good, bu the frame rate seems to be lacking (or lagging). Any idea what is going on?

I got it working, but my computer is not fast enough. Lots of lag. What is the minimum RAM needed to do this on a mac? I got 16GB RAM.
try using and HDMI cable and HDMI interface. Video over USB uses CPU, HDMI does not nearly in the same magnitude

Love this video...but I need help. When I connect my T5i through camera live, and then through camtwist, the video is choppy when I go to use it with google meet, or anything else..I am thinking it has something to do with camera live...as it is running at 100% cpu...I’ve tried using the elgato hd60s but can’t figure out a way to select it as a camera in zoom or google meet. This is an excellent tutorial. I initially set up on a late 2012 Mac running macOS Catalina 10.15.7 . In Zoom the video feed lagged noticeably, say a second or two, and there is a slight horizontal flickering as if a ceiling light is going (which it is not). In the Zoom video settings I had everything unticked. I have since set up on a MacBook Air 2017 and the result is the same. The Camera is the Canon EOS 700D 2013 (Rebel 75i/Kiss) which connects with a USB Mini-b (5 pin) into the camera and male USB A-Type version 2 into female USB A-Type version 3 on the Macs. I have replicated your settings in Camtwist Preferences and restarted everything. Any thoughts on this outcome?

I don't have syphon option on camtwist. I even enabled it from the settings, I reopened camtwist several times. However, I don't see syphon as an option. Can you help me? Mate, I have Canon 80D but I heard that you cannot connect the 80D with your mac and you will need a capture card for the same.

Hello. I have managed to get this working with removing the code from the new Zoom, however the quality is terrible. its all bitmapped. I'm using a Cannon EOS 1200D which should be ok. What am I doing wrong? I run on-line makeup lessons to a clear picture is important. Thanks for sharing this information. I wouldn't have got this far with out it.
