This is Awesome! I always knew Michael Shrieve from Santana and then from his band Spellbinder. The guy always was a real MASTER, And from what I'm hearing, so are the other musicians on this track. Great listening!
Check out his solo album called "Stiletto" with Andy Summers, David Torn, Mark Isham and Terje Gewelt. If you love electric guitar, you have to find this recording.
@lovekurt reminded me of some Kip Hanrahan as well. and Tasavallan Presidentti from the album "Milky Way Moses". but they're not really instrumental. maybe Brand X?
I'm assuming you've already listened to some of Hellborg's contributions to albums such as Personae and Art Metal then. At least you've got great taste. And yes, we do need more music like Octave.
@lovekurt Hey there, listening to this just like I promised U :) Awesome choice and recommendation from U ! :) Thanks much!! 1st time listening to and liking this track a lot.
mike shrieve showing what hes capable of. i mean if the guy can play soul sacrifice live at woodstock after only 2 years of playing he can play pretty much anything. cheers to great music
I just heard this on Spotify and it had singing voices in it. Anyone know what's up with that? I have the original CD as well as the re-issue and this is not present on those.

Spellbinder was magic live. So glad to have experienced that.
For those interested, I found this album on eMusic. Completely legal, and definitely worth the downloads. It's a damned fine album.

giving the sense of living wooah!
Though not exactly close, I suggest listening to Nguyen Le, one of my favorite guitarists next to Shawn Lane and Buckethead.
