To me this is the ultimate Buckethead song. It has just about everything he has to offer packed into this one piece. Calm and emotional like in the intro. He's a riff master with super heavy ones and lighter catchy ones. Those leads like in the chorus section that has that note progression signature to Buckethead. Amazing guitar solos, mind melting shredding and also with his invented nubbing technique that sounds like some sort of computer machine. And in the end it comes full circle. Get to know the sound of Buckethead in 10 minutes this is the song.
I just thought exactly this the other day, they maybe arent his best solo/riff/arpeggios etc but its the best example of all his techniques and sounds into one single piece, this is definitely the song i would play to a new bucky listener for the first time
pure talent. a true diamond in the rough, a composer, a savant? , a modern day Beethoven? a machine, a alien, just a man that's doing what he was put on this planet to do
+britch bopa no no he is not, deetoven had every song he had and 10x more for the 300 instruments he mastered to Bucketheads level, and he had all of the songs for each of them and an opera in his head and he was deaf, Mozart is number one and Beethoven is second bucket head no where near
I got to see him last night! It was the best concert Ive ever been to, he let me touch his killswitch and even gave me a toy! Buckethead forever hes the best guitarist since Hendrix, probably ever! ^_^
Buckethead is SO INCREDIBLE... He was who inspired me to really get into playing guitar. This song (and pretty much everything else he's put out) is simply unbelievable.
there are lots of great Virtuoso's out there like Satriani, Vai, Hendrix, Paul Gilbert etc..but IMO nobody can write a song as good as Buckethead...NOBODY!!!
i think its a more a matter of how they write. no two guitarists are the same, i mean paul gilbert taught buckethead and yet their playing styles are completely different. same goes with satch and vai. yngwie malmsteen is probably one of the only guitarists on earth who can shred at the same speed as buckethead, and he plays a lot of neoclassical whereas buckethead can play a huge variety of genres and even picking styles. its all in the eye of the beholder but i agree that buckethead is one of the best out there
The thing with buckethead is that he is so freaking original and Unique. You can find that listening to Tim Henson from polyphia writing style, but yet it si a different playing and writing style, worth checking out too!
Buckethead is doing what Hendrix told Peter tork he wanted to do. Hendrix was tired, his eyes drifted, head down said, Paint pictures of earth and space, with music. Peter torks last conversation with Jimi
There are many artists that I love, respect and admire because of how talented they are. Buckethead is probably the only one to consistently make me crack up at how absurdly good he is. The breakdown that starts building up at 4:12 is just beyond human
in awe of this dude wow amazing. the further I dig into his music the deeper I look into myself. sounds crazy and its hard to explain, but i seem to think about things that have happened or are happening in my life now, when I listen to this wonderful music.
I keep listening to more and more Buckethead songs. And there's about a half dozen that I keep finding to be the best music I've ever heard. And then I'll keep listening to those songs because they're so good. And now I have to add this one as well. I can't keep up with it! Thanks a lot, Buckethead. Ya big jerk!
Lurker At The Threshold Part 1 - 0:00 Lurker At The Threshold Part 2 - 3:51 Lurker At The Threshold Part 3 - 5:56 Lurker At The Threshold Part 4 - 8:08
Very constructive song! It's good to hear some Buckethead songs with good drums, and effects! Didn't know this song! I love it, as all the others! BUCKETHEAD RULES!
There's more than enough people that already realize his greatness. Believe it or not he's got millions of fans....being in GnR wasn't a total waste for him....it gave him the global exposure he needed!
Spent 40 years in the business. Made decent money. Thought I was pretty good until I heard this true gift of a guitar player. Cannot comprehend how some of the sounds are made. A true sensitive person and a musical genius.
This is quite possibly my favorite BH song. It's so well structured and is so epic. I want to put my guitar down after hearing this guy. It disheartens me. He's so good.
This song is so incredible, it's worth it just to sit there an think of some sort of epic story to go along with this music. This is just one of a few of Buckethead's songs that have influenced me as much as they have. I think Buckethead deserves far, far more credit than he is given. I own several of his albums now, and I still want to get more. Lurker at the Threshold is a phenominal way to the inspired. Friends I've showed this to have all just been left speechless. Need I say more?
Its the fault of a lot of music companies why songs as awesome as this arent deserving the respect it should have... Just because they think a singer or a song isnt going to get anywhere means it wont... BUKETHEAD IS AWESOME
"He is not to cause the water to cease flowing about the island of the tower, nor to molest the tower in any way, nor to entreat of the stones... He is not to open the door which leads to strange time and place, nor to invite Him Who lurks at the threshold, nor to call out to the hills." The Lurker at the threshold
It's fucking Buckethead. It's amazing. It's perfect. This dude is incredible and the best! And this is one of his beastly masterpieces! Maybe my favorite. I'm
This is a great song to show to people who want to know about Bucket. It's got everything he's about pretty much, emotional stuff to start out with, then hardcore drop-tuned metal riffs, then melodic genius riffs, then guitar virtuoso shredding, it's even got some crazy finger nubbing in there for good measure.
Buckethead rulz he is amazing as in heavy metal as well as on his soft side every new song i hear from him impresses me . He has the greatest of all solo's as the best music to make you tear, but only real people who appreciate true music appreciate buckethead.
my mom listens to buckethead and shes 43.....she loves him even tho she is scared of his image lol i started her off with all his slow songs mainly from electric tears and colma she said it helps her mellow out whens she stressed at work! bucket can affect all sorts of ppl no matter what the age. just gotta give em a chance
wow!very shocked this wasnt up for a while this cd rocks!..and just the other day i was think almost every song has been uploaded...OH and part 3 of this song is just amazing!!!!
!@#$ I hate it when I find masterpieces like this. A whole day can go by with this on repeat, and I won't even notice because I'm too busy enjoying it.
@KristyB5 that is very very true.. i used to write songs to a continued tempo, key, and sometimes even rythm... even watching bucketheads performances gives me a whole new outlook on music theory. hes a genuis
If Joseph Merrick was alive today, i think he would be proud of buckethead attention to him Dont forget this man... fight againts the difference Thanks you buckethead, you're the man
There is this guy in my school that often bullies me, i went to high school with him, and im trying to get new friends but he just tells everyone that im a looser... listening to this song really makes things better :)
I just wanted to tell you how much I agree with your song selections... I came across Buckethead through Guitar Hero II, also, and I'm very glad I did - I listen to nothing else these days :) I just wish he had more albums out... 20+ isn't enough for me :D anyway, congrats on your good tastes, and maybe we can talk Buckethead together sometime :)
This song gives me the chills. It's a fantastic masterwork! Bucket really makes music that mean things. He's the best artist in the world, if you ask me. He does it over and over again. Buckethead even overdid Slash in my opinion (i still love Slash). :D Ty for posting the video ^^
I used to be a man of thought and reason, until the day I came across this song I didn't know if my head was playing with me or I was going insane due to the magnitude of the musical madness that I endured through.
Oh yeah, and Magua's Scalp, Hills of Eternity, For Mom, Whitewash, Carpal Tunnel Slug, Big Sur Moon, The Fairy and the Devil, Pepper's Ghost, All in Waiting, Sketches of Spain, Padmasana, and Electric Tears - needless to say, I'm a huge Buckethead fan now and I decided to look through my music library and find some more songs.
Very Post-Rock/Metal To think that I only discovered Post-Rock around a month ago, and here Buckethead was, making EVERY SINGLE GENRE . To think that I've always thought he was very diverse years back then, now that I see him now, holy fucking hell.
rotflmao just looked at the desc myself holy shtz your not the only shorty bus rider . i must need one of those compact vans w/ personal guidence provided lolz
the most underrated underappreciated musician ever, luckily those who've heard him once can't go back to anyone else

I have heard of almost all of bucketheads songs and must say that he is one of the most talented musicians that has lived. PERIOD.
I totally agree
This song made me cry like 5 times. I'm not even ashamed of that.
This song is actually insane. My tiny brain can’t even comprehend such creativity
I don't think even Einstein's massive brain could comprehend it to be honest
I got to see him last night! It was the best concert Ive ever been to, he let me touch his killswitch and even gave me a toy! Buckethead forever hes the best guitarist since Hendrix, probably ever! ^_^

Most of his best stuff came out in that period.
4 years later.. you got any other songs you want to add to that list lol
i always think i found the perfect song...then i find more buckethead songs in the related videos...same story...

He only gave Buckethead lessons for a lil over a year.
Those guys can definitely write songs on par with buckethead lol don't be crazy

Buckethead is beyond exceptional, but can we take a moment to appreciate the fantastic percussion in this song!?

The first minute and a half of this song is probably the most relaxing and true to heart sound that I've ever heard
This song literally does it all. Dudes got a knack for keeping 9 minute instrumentals exciting. Brilliant writing

8:53 al final, lo que me hace sentir y pensar, estaba muy lejos de lo que yo normalmente pienso, que buena vibra tira...

it also shows his genius in writing songs
I love his simply and deep melodies.

23 people are scared of the one who lurks at the threshold.
Shadowman is scary, at first. He's friendly, though.
