I agree as dms kakashi who should be weaker than dms Obito was stronger than Naruto at that time. Imagine isshiki fighting him if he thought Sasuke's rinnegan was annoying then he would have hated double kamui. Probably would have also given a better fight than Naruto and Sasuke before Naruto unlocked baryon mode if he kept training.

Another thing is he could've easily just taken that eye back from Kakashi with how eyes are easily swapped in this show but the plot demanded he does not do it for some reason.

Obito was the biggest example of a character dumbed down by plot. Second is Sasuke. Juubito basically had two useless eyes literally just for plot reasons. Kamui eye is useless for no good reason and he never used the Rinnegan for anything besides reviving Madara.
Yea that was such a dumb reason. "He couldn't Kamui because of the "massive ammounts of chakra" but posess so much chakra to use his ability to the fullest extend.
We also saw Kakashi attempt to kamui huge objects such as the Gedo Mazo etc.
Same for the Rinnegan. Now he had ample chakra to spam it
And yet he still outsmarted everyone.
His kamui eye is the strongest ability in the show, and the rinnegan really just became useless overall after the pain arc. Obito, Madara, and Sasuke all had a rinnegan and barely used it. That’s called bad writing, not dumbing down of a character.

You forgot that he used six paths of Pain with reanimated Jinchuurikis in similar (but also not really) way like Nagato did and summoned and used Gedō Mazō.

Obito became less a character and more of an example of redemption. Being sent to war as a kid, crushed to near death, seeing best friend kill his love, waking up broken with the most evil human on the planet, to be manipulated forever (by the writers and Naruto world characters), going to war with the entire world and still finding the power to revert to a selfless Ninja that would die for his best friend...is fxckin epic.
I’m under the impression that the reason Obito’s Six Paths of Pain didn’t use Kamui is the caveat that any Rinnegan jutsu given to a path is then unable to be used by the user. If Kamui works the same, then Obito would clearly not give one of his paths Kamui when he needs it for himself.
Im asking just cuz i dont know but arent the eyes of the paths of pain only the same as the rinnegan user to show they share vision? The bodies that have the chakra recievers only use one power each but they dont weild multiple paths. Its likely because they share vision that they get the rinnegan's/sharingan's vision improvement and ability to see chakrah but not all of the rinnegan owners abilities at once.

Is it a plot hole that hinata did not notice Tobi’s sharigan being the same chakra color as kakashi’s during the itachi ark? If I remember correctly Ao remarked that his byakugan identifies the chakra colors of dojutsu when he exposed Danzo at the summit. Danzo had shisui eye covered but tobi has sharigan on full display.

Finally, I always felt like Obito was nerfed just for the plot. If they treated him fairly he sure would have been the strongest at the time.

Obito is not stronger than Nagato or madara. Nagato dead ass had decades of training with TWO rinnegan. Alive blind madara dead ass broke lifted up the diety gates that restrained the ten tails.

Forget about white mask Obito they had to literally kill DMS Obito 3 times. Kishimoto had to make sure Obito was on 0 chakra the whole time. First he loses the ten tails and we’re told by kurama he won’t walk for months. He then loses the gedo statue and is forced to use Rinne rebirth. Both of these are supposed to kill the user, yet he survives?!?!? Then later he even is forced to over use his kamui and chakra reserves to the point blood is pouring out his eyes. And then he still proceeds to dodge kaguya’s fastest attack, use kamui and kill himself. Kishimoto literally had to have Obito kill himself.
Can you imagine how absolutely, Absurdly broken, DMS Obito would have been? Not only did he have DMS and a perfect susanno, he had so6p chakra, and since he had the rinnegan he would have been able to use so6p chakra rods. Give this man the 15 year boruto time skip and he will be stronger than any otsotsuk. Like why did they kill him of- Actually scratch that, I know why they killed him off. Cuz he would have absolutely Slapped the taste outta Momoshiki’s mouth. And toneri’s, and maybe even Ishiiki’s. If He thought Sasuke’s rinnegan was annoying, he would have been absolutely pissed trying to fight Obito. Not only could he phase through any attack, he could have warped peoples heads off while doing it. People talk all the time about how madara was killed becuz plot, or itachi was nerfed cuz plot. Just Remember Obito: The Literal Ghost of the Uchiha. Who had to have his eye ripped out, 2nd eye nerfed and be killed 4 times. Just so madara could be the villain.

It’s a reflection of the eyes, in each panel obito is just using his 3 tomei. Kamui is still a MS ability, so while intangibility might be a passive ability, you still must have MS activated

Hey nick I think it’s a stretch to compare Obito controlling the ten tails within him to that of him controlling the jinchuriki. Ten tails has no will of his own and it was almost to much for him. At the very least, the 6 tailed beast he was controlling were actively fighting against that control. Plus he also had an active rinnegan which depleted his chakra more. But in the ten tails for he basically has an infinite battery. He jus had to control that.

I think people confuse the king of hell ability because of nagato using rinne rebirth on the entire leaf village. Because of the way they showed it, the king of hell comes out of the ground and reviving everyone. However that is rinne rebirth not the king of hell’s ability.

Im just curious, is the gunbai like the yhata mirror where it can only deflect chakara created attacks, or could it also deflect natural things like kirin?
I agree he was pretty heavily needed throughout the war...But, I am curious if there are any examples of more than 1 entity being fully sealed within a single vessel. I cannot remember any instances of that happening and so there very well may be a limit to how many things that "inner world" may be able to hold. The closest we got to this was Sasuke and Indira's arrow, but that wasn't within himself but rather his Susan'o and also for a very limited time. I am curious your thoughts.

@nchammer23 you touched on the questions I have about the second Six Paths of Pain allowing Obito to become practically unstoppable. If you map the Rinnegan abilities over them and utilize formations then they are the best set of bodyguards in all of anime!

You were saying Obito can control ten tails so he can control other tailed beast. He was controlling ten tails at the cost of sharingan and rinnegan abilities being disabled.
White mask was already struggling with control of rinnegan, adding tail beast and the the continual drain of both his sharingan usage and healing it. There are multiple sources of drains that he has in white mask form. In jubito form he gives up 3 of them and focuses solely on ten tails control which is a great strain since he wasn't in control of himself when he transformed. His lvl of control kinda remains the same.
Jinchuriki not having the ability of Rinnegan is most likely due to the fact that even though it's their bodies using jutsu the cost of using those techniques comes from the source himself. Anytime paths of pain use rinne ability it would have be Obito paying for the cost of both using it and projecting it through them. Which would have added to the strain he was already in from all of the other things he has on himself. That would also explain why Jinchuriki couldn't use Sharingan abilities because the cost would go onto himself.
Edited part: Just adding since Madara could fully use his Rinnegan he would utterly destroy White Mask Obito and most likely Juubito as well.

I’m going to note that, initially, Obito WASN’T controlling the Ten Tails; even as a mindless, unfocused mass of chakra inside him, it was quite literally tearing him apart, both physically and mentally. Once he mentally stabilized, that made controlling the Ten Tails much easier since it doesn’t have a consciousness that can actively resist outside influence. Thus, he was likely able to use the Ten Tails’ own power to restrain it. However, when dealing with the separate Tailed Beasts, he had to suppress the wills of 6 conscious, sentient, and pissed-off entities; so even though their combined power was lower, they were far more focused against him and therefore much harder to control.
Also, with regard to the Rinnegan-Sharingan deal on Obito’s collection of Jinchuriki; I’m fairly convinced that the Rinnegan is reflected in one’s eye when a Path is shared with you. The Sharingan doesn’t have a Path to share, it’s not a Rinnegan. Therefore, based on this, the Rinnegan in each Jinchuriki was a reflection of Obito’s eye, but there’s no reason to assume the Sharingan was- and we KNOW Obito has access to a large collection of base Sharingan, so why not go with the theory that’s based on things we KNOW?
It'd be awesome if you could do a kind of what if video where Obito came back to the Hidden Leaf after meeting Kakashi and Rin in the Land of Waves

Honestly and the one big thing i will always say to obito and what you start out with; he practically never lost a fight up until the point of minato where he actually got injured and fled but even that wasn't a loss because sure he was fighting minato but that meant he wasn't there for quite some time to stop kurama who i believe he also placed under his control practically instantly and who eventually killed minato and kushina and this was all done from yellow mask obito. if he is able to defeat a hokage of that level while also placing a jinchuriki under a decade long genjutsu, that kind of proves the point that he was just simply toned down due to plot. id argue at the height of his power before going to 10 tails jinchuriki he could have even just surpassed madara even potentially at his double rinnegan sage of sixth paths point like there is a world in white mask form where he could have just simply did that and easily won

I think Obito was an example of power out growing your abilities. He kept wanting to get stronger, found ways to get stronger but didn't know how to use that strength effectively. It's kind of common in anime. Think about when Goku first became a SS god. He had to fight to learn how to use his new found strength.

I always thought the yank on the strong characters was always a little allegorical, in terms of how being too strong can also be your downfall. Such as: strength comes with a price/sacrifices , the strong fall by underestimating others, taking your strength for granted, strength can't overcome everything, and others.
I'd also add that only characters who used their strength for others or truly appreciated the strength they were able to aquire being the exception. Something Sasuke himself truly only realizes when Naruto and him fight at the end.

yes, Madara was suppose to be the focus later on but plot wise it made sense that Obito, seeing the plan so close to being fulfilled, got impatient and started the war before he fully mastered Madara's reneigan. hell, he starts the war before he even grabbed it. it could easily be argued that if he gave himself a few months or years with the reneigan, by, you know, not bothering with Nagato or what have you since he had no loyalty to Madara. without Kabuto, Madara would have never been revived at all unless Black Zetsu forced him to i guess. also, Obito taming Yagura is likely a result of his Yin and Yang release training from Madara, being able to tap into the more primordial from of Yin to make his genjutsu able to hit both Yagura and Isobu at the same time.
Obito returning the fan was weird, since he wasn't loyal to him. the reanimated jinchuriki isn't really his own strength thogh, the core of this is Obito's power Vs. Madara's but the reanimation also has Kabuto in the mix. there's logically a massive difference between controlling 1 entity as its jinchuriki within yourself compared to controlling 7 bodies at once and juggling their vision/abilities so duh he wasn't able to use them fully. not to mention the fact that he was holding back for most of that fight to no kill Naruto or B. furthermore if he didn't hold back he wouldn't have had the power to become the 10 tails jinchuriki that he barely achieves to hold himself together in the beginning. he's also forgetting the entire issue of Madara in this argument, Obito or Madara it doesn't matter since either way they have to be beatable.

@NCHammer23 Why did the akatsuki need to collect the tailed beasts? It seems like all they needed was a sample of their chakra to be able to complete their plans because they only needed a tentacle from the 8 tails and just kinkaku/ginkaku for the 9 tails. Wouldn't that work for every tailed beast? Or was it just because all of the 7 other beasts were just that easy to collect?

Can someone be a jinchuriki of multiple tailed beasts? I know you mentioned indras arrow by sasuke, but he wasn’t a jinchuriki to all of them, he just had them trapped and took their chakra.
A few problems.
The shared abilities were an ability of the Rinnegan, why do we use the logic of "why would he not be able to" when we clearly saw that he didn't, implying that he *couldn't* do it.
The other problem is that Izanagi can't be used by a "reflection" of a Sharingan, just like the Paths of Pain can't use Rinne Rebirth and just bring themselves back with the King of Hell.
Another is Obito barely managed to take control of the Ten Tails, he was on the verge of losing himself forever, so he would have a problem controlling all the Tailed Beasts.
The tailed beasts were six and what's your first point?
The cursed marks that suppress tailed beast power, does it affect their overall durability? I'm imagining it has the same effect kryptonite has on Superman. Once it's in his vicinity, he is weakened but you still can't pierce him. IDK. Just thinking.
