My Daughter passed away at 34 in a horrible traffic accident, but her last act on earth was helping her Grandfather, who passed away the next day. She helped people her whole life! She loved this song and used to go with me to Floyd concerts. I miss her so much! God bless and tell your kids you love them EVERY day because you never know what tomorrow brings!
I lost my husband October 3, 2014 and I stood by him as he was slowly dying of Silicosis(Black Lung Disease). He was my everything and though he lost his faculties, OUR LOVE STAYED STRONG UNTIL THE VERY END!! I now grieve for him everyday and wish we went together, but I promised him I would stay and watch our grand babies grow and play. He said the night before he died that he wanted to box us all up and take us with him. My heart will never be the same again. 2 days before he passed away he asked me to take him out on our porch, as we got out there he said "Do you hear the doves?" we live on the farm where he was raised and we raised our children. He then sang to me "On the Wings of a Snow White Dove" and it was at that moment I knew he was going to Heaven soon. I so miss my night and shining Armour!! He was too young at 60 yrs old and I was too young at 46 yrs old to become a widow, I truly hate that word. I would rather say I am married, my husband awaits me on the other side. I wear my wedding rings still and his wedding ring size 16, I wear on a gold chain around my neck!! He was to us all :The Man, The Myth, The Legend!! 6'4" and was a gentle giant, never raised his voice at me or a hand, that right there is the definition of a REAL MAN!! I miss you Gary, more than words could ever say, I miss everything about you, your long gray hair and same with your beard, how I loved to brush your hair!!! I miss holding your huge hand in mine and telling you it was ok to let go, to be pain free, for Jesus will heal you as you enter Heaven, but please save a place for me!! I miss you MY LOVE.
You know I read what you wrote I became a widow at age 47 my husband passed 2012 he was 57 he die of cancer all over ,brain tumor it was sad yes he was my everything best husband best father I could go one your story is alot like mine the difference is our son got killed in truck accident on Jan.1,2013 then our daughter died Nov.5,2015 lung diease I miss them all life's so different I am 55 still single wont be with nobody else We have a younger son he 31 now it's me and him he has a family he misses his dad, brother, sister. My brother died of lung cancer but he wouldn't go until I told him I forgive him and Jesus would forgive him also. so I prayed a prayer over him and asked God to take him into his kingdom and he let go after many days of suffering. It is an experience I will never forget. He was my only brother his name was Joe.
I 100% empathize with you, I know how devastated you've been. I'm 40 and on March the 16th of 2017 my beloved wife very unexpectedly passed away in my arms on our den floor. I envy how many years you got to spent with your husband, I only had 10 blissful, happy years with my sweet Heather. SHE'S ALWAYS LOVED NEVER FORGOTTEN. Keep your head up, and just try to remember all the joy ya'll had together
I am a massive Pink Floyd fan but I honestly think this is the best version of this song I have ever heard, it sends tingles down my back each time I listen to it. I would never have thought putting a country spin on a song like this could work but Cody has taken it to a new level. God bless the man.
OMG I cried!! My husband Cody passed away suddenly at the age of 30 on November 25, 2019 and he absolutely loved this song Pink Floyd and Cody Jinks 💜💜💛💛 thank you for doing this song!!
I lost my wife on Valentine's day 2024. I will miss her forever and i will do my best to raise our two daughters the best that i can. Always tell the ones you love how much they mean to you everyday because you never know when you be unable to. I love you Tatia❤
Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands, and so is Cody Jinks. Now they have something in common in my heart. He couldn't have picked a better song or have done a better job on it. Cody you are the best in country music, period.
Cody is the start of a new era of music and musical experience. I have travelled and lived music with our family band for years. As well as seen the Grateful Dead dozens of times, Pink Floyd in the 80s and 90s, Phish in the 90s and 2000s over 100 shows, Alabamas Mountain Music Tour, Kenny Rogers Gambler tour, Bruce Springsteen Nebraska tour, Van Halen with Hagar and Roth, Waylon, Willie, LeDoux, Haggard, several times, My life is music, writing, fishing, kayaking, and music. With all this said. Its a breath of fresh air to listen to Cody and the fact no one here in Nashville or in Chattanooga or North West GA in the mountains where I spend most of my time even know who he is? Shows the shallow controlling minds of our music industry elites. God Bless Cody Jinks
OutdoorRushTV so true I'm in Bama all the music. I listen to none of my friends have heard of till I share with them the net can still be a great tool Lol
I heae ya brother, but now you do know his music, and the amazing influence it has on people like us, and others alike. listen to every song you possibly can by him, because I assure you that his lyrics, and the bands instrumental talents have this strange ability to set you free. I agree. Being a HARD FLOYD FAN. I hard this today for the first time. And yes I agree he doesn't compare. But they did a fantastic job and the steal guitar was the right topping on the pie
Pink Floyd has been my favorite rock band for over 30 years. Dark Side of the Moon had me hooked. Cody you did this song justice. I would be proud to play this right next to Floyd's version.
For my baby brother who was murdered in cold blood on 3/19/17. I play this for you ever time I visit your grave. Such a beautiful version of this classic. #justiceforJason
Once in a generation, brilliant, extremely talented, true and pure country artist with a Voice of Legends. He is by far the greatest male singer alive today, in a class all his own and as great as any who have come and gone before him from Lefty to Jones, Waylon, Haggard, Whitley etc.... to name a few. There's nothing he can't sing and damn sure own when he's through. He's not just the best today, he's a Legend in the making and writing his own history with every song he cuts and every note he sings. Keeping it true country, doing it his way and not bowing or kissing anyone's ass to win a popularity contest of what the powers running Nashville claim should be this years flavor of so called country music. They can call him an Outlaw all they want, truth is he's a pure traditional country singer who knows his roots and honors them. For this every country fan should be thankful. Nashville needs to pull their heads out of their asses, realize, watch, listen, learn and remember what the hell made country music great in the first place. Then follow Jinks back to their roots making real, pure, true country music once again!
I come to youtube to listen to this song once a week. Ive never read most the comments but, WildNWestern hit the nail on the flippin head!!! Hell freakin yes
Cody Jinks to me was a springboard right after Sturgill Simpson. I stumbled across both after I stumbled across a local Georgian radio station for "underground" country. I can thank these artist for launching me into the music expedition I'm currently in. It's awoken my roots as a young southern man and inspired me to play, sing, write with more soul. Artists like Jinks take something like a formula for country music as we heard it in yester-year, and make it totally original. He has heart in his playing, and real emotion in his voice, which as we know is a dying trait. I'm glad that the growing following of artists like this has given these guys the chance for all to hear. Come back to Georgia soon
You exist for a reason. For the experience. Good and bad. Ride it out. Doesn’t last long. I’ve never done anything to hurt anyone. Not intentionally. Yet so many hate me. So I’ll ride it out. You should too.
Lost my brother in 2015 not a day that goes by that don’t think about him. Got his old ford up and running. When I’m in it it’s the closest I feel to him being around. Love you brother🍻
Floyd was mine and my dads favorite band. The wall was the first movie I’ve ever seen at 4 years old. He passed away when I was 13. I miss him dearly. We sang this song together and ever since he’s passed it’s been a hard one to listen to. But this, this is amazing.
I've been listening to Cody Jinks for years now. I have every album including the two early albums that very few people know about. I've sat and had drinks with him after a gig before he got as big as he is now but when I heard he covered Pink Floyd I thought he had lost it, I honestly thought he screwed up, until I listened to it. This man is absolutely brilliant. We may very well have the greatest musician of our generation on our hands. No one out there right now can touch Cody Jinks.
Cody is all that played, on repeat, when my fiance was battling cancer. He loved you, Cody. The songs hit differently now, but they remind me so much of the last few months we had together and somehow bring me peace. Thank you, Cody 💙✈️ R.I.P. Devin Speers
This song hits home in so many ways. My cousin who was like a big brother to me died in a motorcycle wreck in 2003. My best friend since preschool days committed suicide in 2013 over a breakup. My dad died in 2016. Every time I hear this song I think of these people I loved so much. Cody Jinks really knocked this one out of the park. Totally saved country music.
Puts tears in my eyes Everytime I Listen To This.. Wish you Were Here Grandpa and Grandma Cordell sure miss you since you been gone.. WISH YOU WERE HERE!!!!!
As we seperated my dads ashes between me and my 2 sisters and my mother ...I played this song ..but Pink Floyd's version ...love your version 2 😔still brought tears to my eyes
Today is the first time I've heard your cover of this iconic song. You took one of the greatest rock and roll songs by one of the greatest rock and roll bands ever and smashed it out of the park. I tip my hat to you sir. Superb.
Cody Jinks, Do the world a favor.... never sell out. All the money they'll throw at you will never make you happy in the long run. Stick to youtube, and set up a patreon account for donations. Nashville has become a cesspool, they would have you covering pop songs in no time.
Then I guess on that note, you could say he sold out when he went country, since that's not where he started. Or, you could just listen to him say "Fuck You and your opinion," when he sings what he and his fans like. That's why his fans like him, you opinion of a "sell out" is yours. Please make sure and let us know when your record drops and we'll see just how original you are too
My year younger brother, and best friend, took his life a little over 2 years ago. It's his birthday in the next few days. I heard this song and started crying. Wish you were still here bro, we miss you so much.
In February I lost 2 of my best friends to a drunk driver. It was so sudden and I never even got to say goodbye. Then just last week, I lost my great aunt who I loved very much. I'm so tired of losing people. I wish they were here every day, knowing that I'll never get to see their faces again.
When your dream are falling apart, and you left behind, when there ain't no light at the end of the tunnel, listen to Cody's. His music makes me keep going and never giving up! I ❤️ C.J 🎶
This PF cover is exceptionally done, and I never thought anybody could cover one of my favorite classic rock songs the way Cody covered this! My favorite PF song is Comfortably Numb. I have an old t shirt I won't throw away, When Pigs Fly, plus a tiny red guitar 🎸 pin with the group name on it. Bet your tattoo is great! Not many groups can beat the graphics and background explosion of lights that the fabulous PF group had! Take care! 🌹 rosita
Growing up in western Nebraska in a family band playing dance halls, bars, county fairs, rodeos, I have heard some of the greatest music ever written from Nebraska, Wyoming all the way down through Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. I live in Georgia now with some really great people but its always hard to make people realize what real country, farm, ranch boys are like. If you want to know country go west. Out where I grew up you still ride your horse to the taverns. With that said I do like a lot of new music and wont be to much of a hater, but you will never take the real country outta this boy.
Cody's tunes hit me unlike any other artists songs have. He's just real, raw, untuned, genuine. Thanks for not selling out Cody, I'm truly grateful for that. One day, you, Whitey, Sturgill, Jamey, Ward, and Whiskey will be up there with The Highwaymen. Just keep strumming, you'll get there.
After a funeral for a man my father and I were great friends and have both worked for we got in the car and this was on. After that this and piano man stop me in my tracks and this one, sells the emotion so well he was a farmer so country is fitting love it thank you Cody jinks
They had this on the radio at work today. I could barely hear it, but I thought "what the hell? A country Pink Floyd cover?" But I'm absolutely blown away now that I'm fully listening to it. I can hear the amount of soul put into it and it's just a good feeling.
So few artists can cover Crystal Gale, Merle Haggard and Pink Floyd....let alone make the songs unique and dare I say better than the originals. Brother Jinks is the real deal. Epic song writer, singer, guitar player. A true triple threat...just like Haggard was.
This song is about losing someone close to you . A tribute to them , it always will be . Nice job on this cover of it Cody , the respect you gave it is greatly appreciated .
This is not some of the "spoon fed" garbage you're going to hear on country radio today. This guy is the real deal. Keep going Cody...the masses will find you soon enough.
I'm not a huge fan of covers;usually the band doing the cover either tries too hard to make it a carbon copy or tries too hard to put their own unique twist on the song they are covering and in the process they lose sight and its almost indistinguishable, but this here.......this is everything a cover should be. Cody puts his signature vocals and guitar into it but doesn't ever stray too far away from what many consider to be an extremely iconic song by one of the best Classic Rock bands in existence. I have literally listened to it about 15 times in the last 2 days, I can't get enough of it and I find myself sharing it with everyone I know. Nothing short of pure greatness in my honest opinion!
Cody Jinks you're cover of "Wish You Were Here" hit so hard. My step mother passed away a year and a half ago and as we were searching for songs to play at her funeral I had my father listen to it and he immediately burst into tears. Your music hits home and I thank you. Absolutely beautiful!
just when I thought it couldn't get any better, here we go with this. it just shows what true artist and musician Cody and his band is. truly the best musician I've ever heard in my time. may he rise to the top
I was 16 yrs old, starting my senior year in high school, when Pin Floyd released Wish you were here, I've been a fan ever since! Cody Jinks cover shines on it own, I've been a fan of Cody's for 2 yrs now, keep it up man!
Cody keep it up sounds great today's country music on the radio ain't nothing like this this is real music with the steel guitars and rhythm I hope I don't make people mad by saying this but to me it sounds better than Pink Floyd
Jeromy McCarty a cover has its own twist to the original while a rip-off is a song that sounds exactly the same and has no difference except lyrics like Ice Ice Baby
I had a Sturgil Simpson playlist and this came on, but it didn't read the title with the artist. Literally thought this was Sturgil singing. They sound so much alike. Real country voices. Now I discovered Jinks! These guys are the future.
never been much of a country music fan but Cody has just literally changed that for me. plus, he & I come from the same TEXAS town. awesome job on this song!
I used to listen to this song with my son who passed away tragically in a car accident where his head was severed completely off. Every time I hear this song I can’t hold in the tears. He would always say, “I love this song and I love my head!”
From one Cody to another, you're definitely my favorite modern day country artist, & definetly way up there when it comes to all country. Saving country music one track at a time. Only wish I could've found you sooner and heard all of the music as it came out, still looking forward to hearing your new music. Seriously the only artist I get excited about when I hear you're making something new
I've heard this song thousands of times from floyd but you singing it really hit home to me lost my grandfather in the fall of 09 and wondered how I would be able to fill his shoes on our farm in the summer of 10 I realized how big his shoes were. I was on a bad path in my life back than thankfully I feel hes always been watching over me he had a huge impact on my life. Now with my daughter being being born last year 4th generation soon to be farmer in our family I hope that I can fill that man's shoes not a day goes by that I wish he was here I've since cleaned up my act and starting up my own trucking company with a great friend and as you may know many farmers are hurting this year with the flooding in ohio way behind and running out of time in our short growing window. But I have his words of wisdom telling me dont quit and dont let anybody or anyone tell you you cant. I heard this song hit real close to me for that if your ever in ohio let me know and you can come out deer hunting great bucks since they feed off my alfalfa fields lol
I'm come from a Mexican background, grew up on mariachi, norteña and banda. It's only been a couple of weeks that I recently heard of and discovered this amazing artist, Mr. Cody Jinks. Can't stop listening to many of the songs he's interpreted with his style and amazing voice. Wish I had found him much sooner.
My Daughter passed away at 34 in a horrible traffic accident, but her last act on earth was helping her Grandfather, who passed away the next day. She helped people her whole life! This song has always given me the feels, but today hit me even harder as I picked up my beautiful bride and love of my life's ashes this afternoon.
Damn, hang in there.
😢🙏
Cody Jinks knocked it out one badass song
The pedal steel in this song is unbelievable. Your arrangement of this song is incredible. Beautiful. Phenomenal!!!!
Congratulations, yall just created psychedelic country
I lost my hubby of cardiac arrest sept 8 2024.. he is veteran ,i miss him so much!
Puts tears in my eyes Everytime I Listen To This.. Wish you Were Here Grandpa and Grandma Cordell sure miss you since you been gone.. WISH YOU WERE HERE!!!!!
Thanks Cody means alot
Same with Cody Johnson, Jon Pardi and The Mavericks. Ain’t real country without them!
Justin Wise Yeah, don't become Luke Bryan.
Let's all say it together........ "FUCK LUKE BRYAN"
He's already sold out by covering Pink Floyd
Then I guess on that note, you could say he sold out when he went country, since that's not where he started. Or, you could just listen to him say "Fuck You and your opinion," when he sings what he and his fans like. That's why his fans like him, you opinion of a "sell out" is yours. Please make sure and let us know when your record drops and we'll see just how original you are too
that isn't selling out its paying tribute to one of his musical influences that is all
My year younger brother, and best friend, took his life a little over 2 years ago.
I have a pink floyd tattoo....❤️ know every song and every word from my dad playing it all the time when I was younger....Sentimental music 🎶
Just beautiful... Way to bring country soul to this song.. Awesome cover!!
John Kolar Bhutan
Cody's version blows me away. This arrangement is simply awesome!
I'm not a big country music fan, but I love this cover. Cody captured the song and its dark tone very well.
Just like Sturgill's cover of Nirvana, Cody has done amazing with this cover of Pink Floyd. Saving country music.
Are you a real War Eagle from Auburn? If so, WAR DAMN EAGLE!! 😁✌
I literally put these 2 songs in the same category. Funny to se it said. War Eagle via Wetumpka
Im a hardcore pink Floyd fan it's an easy song to cover everyone has done it but his voice sells it and he made it country, sounds awesome
One of the most beautiful Pink Floyd songs ever. He did it full justice.
After a funeral for a man my father and I were great friends and have both worked for we got in the car and this was on. After that this and piano man stop me in my tracks and this one, sells the emotion so well he was a farmer so country is fitting love it thank you Cody jinks
I am a huge fan of Pink Floyd & usually don't like covers but this one is amazing!
I lost my wife August 30 2024. Always loved this by Floyd but this is better
Thank You Cody Jinks for "filling them Shoes"...You're THE Real thing, No Doubt. Keep it simple man. Alabama Hears Ya!
So does Florida
They had this on the radio at work today. I could barely hear it, but I thought "what the hell? A country Pink Floyd cover?" But I'm absolutely blown away now that I'm fully listening to it. I can hear the amount of soul put into it and it's just a good feeling.
So few artists can cover Crystal Gale, Merle Haggard and Pink Floyd....let alone make the songs unique and dare I say better than the originals. Brother Jinks is the real deal. Epic song writer, singer, guitar player. A true triple threat...just like Haggard was.
I hope you just didn't say this is better than Floyd
Helllllll yea I wish you were here!🔥💖🔥🔥🔥🔥
Best acoustic song ever written. Almost too sacred to cover. Sir this is an exception.
Cody Jinks is the voice of REAL country.
This song is about losing someone close to you . A tribute to them , it always will be . Nice job on this cover of it Cody , the respect you gave it is greatly appreciated .
This song sure brings tears Just lost my dad September 27 2020 we still needed you here but mom needed you more !!! RIP Dad & Mom
So beautiful. Never thought I’d ever hear a country cover of this song done so well
This is not some of the "spoon fed" garbage you're going to hear on country radio today. This guy is the real deal. Keep going Cody...the masses will find you soon enough.
This is an absolutely beautiful cover... Talent can only pull this one off❣️
Here lately, first thing I do when I get home from work is pour me glass whiskey and turn on Cody Jinks. Damnit I finally found happiness. So grateful
Well said
Cody Jinks you're cover of "Wish You Were Here" hit so hard. My step mother passed away a year and a half ago and as we were searching for songs to play at her funeral I had my father listen to it and he immediately burst into tears. Your music hits home and I thank you. Absolutely beautiful!
Goosebumps as the voice came in. Awesome! Thanks Cody!
You are my friend. Great ppl. We have great taste.
just when I thought it couldn't get any better, here we go with this. it just shows what true artist and musician Cody and his band is. truly the best musician I've ever heard in my time. may he rise to the top
I have cold chills listening to this!! Wow!! What a voice!! Here's some real country folks!!!!!!!!
I was 16 yrs old, starting my senior year in high school, when Pin Floyd released Wish you were here, I've been a fan ever since! Cody Jinks cover shines on it own, I've been a fan of Cody's for 2 yrs now, keep it up man!
As a big floyd fan n weed fan who gets high to floyd n likes this guys country songs n I'm not a huge country fan I approve .. man has talent
man! Cody Jinks is a country music legend in the making!
Cody keep it up sounds great today's country music on the radio ain't nothing like this this is real music with the steel guitars and rhythm I hope I don't make people mad by saying this but to me it sounds better than Pink Floyd
He keeps getting better and better. ....keep it up brother.
This is the most beautiful rendition of this song. I love the piano work!! Those Hippies sure do make some beautiful music!!
I MISS YOU BABE..
WISH YOU WERE
HERE...
Just a amazing song for Cody jinks to play
Hands down the best cover of this song in existence!!! Cody kicks ass!!!
Cody is the man. May not ever get radio airplay but if that's where you're finding your country music o feel sorry for you.
just got over a very bad break up and this just lets out hella emotion ...
Brendon Lee ditto...this just flat out broke me down...
But this is about somebody who died. Not some stupid breakup.
Where's the love button??? I'll hit it 2,000 times !!!!!!
I rarely listen to country music but I like this. Nice job Cody.
I caught the very end of it on a local country station and was glad to find out that it was a cover and not a rip off.
Jeff Thornton What's the difference between the 2?
Jeromy McCarty a cover has its own twist to the original while a rip-off is a song that sounds exactly the same and has no difference except lyrics like Ice Ice Baby
I had a Sturgil Simpson playlist and this came on, but it didn't read the title with the artist. Literally thought this was Sturgil singing. They sound so much alike. Real country voices. Now I discovered Jinks! These guys are the future.
Immediate goosebumps. Cody is such an amazing storyteller.
Goose bumps all over! You understand this song. You've been there to that side!
Absolutely brilliant cover, sir. well done.
Don't get kicked Jake
never been much of a country music fan but Cody has just literally changed that for me. plus, he & I come from the same TEXAS town. awesome job on this song!
No words to describe it.....awesome tune.
Great great job, Cody Jinks have done to this song......amazingly cover. Love boths.
Seriously the only artist I get excited about when I hear you're making something new
generallee01Redneck as a third Cody, I approve of your message. He and Chris Stapleton are my favorite modern day country artists.
Cody Christopher For sure, Stapleton is great also, his music video of "Fire Away" darn near brings tears to my eyes
Bobby Shankle ?
Love love love codys voice. real. raw. What real country is
Appreciate that Julia
Cody Jinks .. you are very welcome glad you saw this and responded. your voice is amazing.
I'm loving this....WOW! Excellent, Cody!!!
Awsum great job beautiful song
