Me and my Dad never talked around much. He was more into teaching me the values and purpose on how to live my life and be a pillar to the family. Back then I didn't know that he had brain tumour. It was only during the last stages of his life after the chemo that I discovered and he didn't want me to be sad either by his situation. This song is a connection of two lives without words but by a stronger bond of understanding. Its been 9 years now ever since he passed away. And this song is something that reminds me of the good old days that I spent with my dad. He was my Hero after all. RIP Dad. You were a good man. I hope I grow up to be the man you wanted me to be

He was losing weight, going home early from work, and then had a respitory infection that wouldnt go away.. He was addicted to pain pills at the time.. Anyway, I think he knew he was sick but didnt want to hear it from drs.. Well he did eventually.. And no longer than a week of knowing, he was taking his last breaths of life surrounded by family, and some good fire house buddies of his.... Never gets easier.. The only thing thats gets easier is remembering they aren't here... I still reach for my phone to tell him something funny.. but opps

Say that again real slow, since Avenged SevenCrap has released like 3 covers in a row. There is not enough words to describe how much all their covers suck.
Obviously you could never beat David Gilmour's own version of the song, but I'd argue that covers are never made to try and outperform an original version. Personally I think it's great that A7X are releasing new content between their albums instead of going silent for 2-3 years. Plus, the changes in genre just show how versatile they are as a band.
Why is it too hard to understand that the main reason of all these covers is to invite the new generations to listen the old classics that inspired this band.

The meaning of this version to me....my daughter's father was a US Marine.....long story short, flashbacks, suicide, heartbreak. But he had told me awhile before this had happened, that he wanted Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here played at his funeral. And I played it. He had told me a story of him and some of the other soldiers sitting around a campfire in Okinawa and one played this on his guitar and they all sang it. Well, it got to the point that it was so hard for me to ever listen to Pink Floyd's version again. So when Avenged Sevenfold came out with it......I cried. But I was so happy. I made this version, the happy one. This one is in my heart with all the good memories. Thanks guys for the remake. It was very needed and it is beautiful!

Obviously you could never beat David Gilmour's own version of the song, but I'd argue that covers are never made to try and outperform an original version. Personally I think it's great that A7X are releasing new content between their albums instead of going silent for 2-3 years. Plus, the changes in genre just show how versatile they are as a band.
Why is it too hard to understand that the main reason of all these covers is to invite the new generations to listen the old classics that inspired this band.

The meaning of this version to me....my daughter's father was a US Marine.....long story short, flashbacks, suicide, heartbreak. But he had told me awhile before this had happened, that he wanted Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here played at his funeral. And I played it. He had told me a story of him and some of the other soldiers sitting around a campfire in Okinawa and one played this on his guitar and they all sang it. Well, it got to the point that it was so hard for me to ever listen to Pink Floyd's version again. So when Avenged Sevenfold came out with it......I cried. But I was so happy. I made this version, the happy one. This one is in my heart with all the good memories. Thanks guys for the remake. It was very needed and it is beautiful!
