Been daily riding a 2012 R6 for a month now. Close to 20k miles and I suddenly had an issue where the bike didn't want to start so I gave it some throttle. It started, rough idle and had a sputter in first gear and loss of power. After a few shifts it fixed itself. Buddy of mine said it could've been a false neutral. What do you guys think
Has the plugs been changed? With the current mileage it’s not a bad idea to get that done. After the bike” fixed itself” was it firing on all cylinders? There is an issue with these bikes and start up problems. It’s with the fueling. See if there is an updated ecu flash you can get done to help fix the issue. Some people have reported they got it done and fixed the issue
I have an issue where my 08 R6 will be running then electrical power cuts off randomly its sporadic it’ll randomly die while idle and sometimes will die mid throttle no certain rpm just does when it wants battery is new and electrical diagnosis was done at a shop and still can’t figure it out
Definitely a tough one. Clean all your grounds. Make sure all connections are nice and tight including the negative and positive battery cables on the battery. I’ve seen bikes do all types of weird stuff with loose battery connections. There also a starter/ spark relay. That could be going bad as well. On a 2001 r1 I had a while back it would run mint but then after a certain amount of time of running it would just die out. It was the relay which was bad. I changed that out and no more issues
Hey do u have any videos of how it was running before so I can see if mine has the same problems rn because I’ve been chasing down this misfire problem for 3 days and it stills sound like it’s only firing on 2 cylinders 2/3 but 1/4 barely fires unless I i get it to pass 4k rpm all cylinders fire
I ended up pulling the throttle body off and cleaned my injectors and made sure everything went back together tight and within 10 mins of it started it sounded like a 300 but I kept the rpm above 4k and it cleared up and started to run brand new check the injectors and see if which one is clogged and clean them those are problems too since it just picks up dust over the time they get dirty
Yo.. i got myself a rj095 also... oil smells like a bit petrol in it, thinking its cuz of ignition dropouts. i test within Selftest Control via COM-Check , and test ignite.. i even shock myself to get sure all works fine... seems all of them did what they need to do but seems sometimes just didnt ignite when i drive *some sort of "no pull" * in some situations... cyl 2-3 good, 1-4 barley heareable. im unsure Coils or Spark Plugs.. maybe both?
I would personally use a temp gun and if the temps on cylinder 2/3 and a lot hotter then 1/4 then I’m sure the coils are out on those cylinders. While your down there you might as well replace the plugs in all 4. Usually the coil will go before a plug will
@@ctadrenaline i just bought a tempgun, ill check that out. Thx for reply. BTW i was down there and tried to replace those plugs in winterseason, i dont know when the last switch was before i bought it, and it has 30k km (16k miles) on it. But these shatters wont come of.. i even uninstall the aircooler, with all the shells i have.. but damn i cant manage to drill them. IDK how to manage that.
@@ctadrenaline Temperatur are unstable Left and Right -30 - 40 °C difference to the mid ones. Water Test confirm some issues to vaporize that fast as the middle ones do. Tested in Idle in Start, after small Engine Revs.. and after short Circut. But to be hones Temp gun isnt that good to conform cuz i noticed that the surface in temp gunning has to be the almost same condition.. but Racing and all that heating stuff in his old days.. made them "State Consumed" in different levels :)
I wad also thinking about getting a 05 R6. But the bike i saw had different type of lights. 2 Round bulbs on each side. Did you change the lights or am i getting lured?
Watch this video I made with the owner of the bike and go to 3:27 you can see the headlight much better. It has 2 small round lights per side in the headlight housing m.ua-cam.com/video/zDBNlNJ_xaQ/v-deo.html
Mufflers can be fabricated shorter as long as it mounts fine. It’s really up to you. I know plenty of people who have shortened their mufflers. The actual link pipe can be as well if your handy and can weld if needed
@wo.weisss like I said you really gotta look at the diameter and how the muffler attaches to it. I wouldn’t cut the where the link pipe connects to the headers. If anything you might be able to cut where the muffler attaches to the link pipe. Of course this depends on your setup
Thanks for viewing. Yea bike needed coils bad. They were shot. Not sure if I got that part on video but it was basically running on 1-2 cylinders at one point. I had it pinned in first it was barely going anywhere. First I tried plugs. Then I did the coils and she ran like new again after that. R6 is Notorious for coils crapping out
Yea true but look how long it took them to update the shark Gill. I’m not bmw so idk what to tell ya. Only can hope they update it soon or at some point
Beautiful bike. Thanks for this upload.
Thanks for watching! It’s my buddy’s bike but super low milage especially for the year. Great bike for sure

If it’s an 03 I would look at the coils. Those years had the faulty denso coil packs.
It kinda sounded like a 300. But I don’t have any videos unfortunately

@@ctadrenaline oh yeah its the same as mine!
Great glad you got the right bike!
hey man can the pipe be shorten somehow on the 04 model?
Mufflers can be fabricated shorter as long as it mounts fine. It’s really up to you. I know plenty of people who have shortened their mufflers. The actual link pipe can be as well if your handy and can weld if needed
@ctadrenaline if you cut the link pipe shorter about 20cm would the exhaust fit fine?
@@wo.weisss depends on the diameter of the link pipe and the angle. Sounds like your not happy with your current exhaust setup
@ctadrenaline no, the r6 2004 is one of the bikes I plan on taking but most on them are with long link pipe and I wondered if it's okay cutting
@wo.weisss like I said you really gotta look at the diameter and how the muffler attaches to it. I wouldn’t cut the where the link pipe connects to the headers. If anything you might be able to cut where the muffler attaches to the link pipe. Of course this depends on your setup
Sounds like you had to tune up the bike and just readjust the clutch

Coils huh, sounds like the BMW S1000RR
🤣 knock on wood mines been fine but I know other people have been having issues. I’m sure bmw will come up with a updated part
