I'm glad this video came out. In the Black community, most Black people view communication degrees as being stupid and a waste of time. I am tired of the ridicule and scoffing. This video helps.
Not black but it is a useless degree.
Well, the dude in the video says otherwise. You have a nice day and leave me the fuck alone.
But most of them can’t communicate the proper way or express they self. Especially the guys. I’m a African American so I can say this about the community. I even struggled big time trying to express myself.

It is a waste tho🤡
I would highly suggest anybody going for a communications degree: make sure you complete internships for whatever field you want to work in. It is quite hard finding a job with a communications degree and no experience in the field you want to work in. They usually go for someone that has a specialized degree for the job or experience. Speaking from experience.
I was going for this degree before dropping out, saved myself $26k. I only got an associates degree from community college in business administration (which didn’t really help) but sometimes I wonder if getting the BA would of made a difference.
So true! I got a degree in communications and graduated 8 months ago with no internship and still have no job
@@Vlogversityis there any specialization for communication studies? Or you only minor?
@@assassin7250 no my major was strategic communications. Still no job and going back to school to become a teacher now. Good luck!
@@Vlogversity hey man, good luck on your journey and I was definitely thinking of working in higher education administration some day. But as it right now I’m more passionate on side of social media world of marketing and public relations. Did you looked into these too beforehand?
Turning 30 this year but never finished my undergraduate degree. I am passionate about foreign language (I've learned 4, and speak 2 fluently). I want to create online videos and programs for people who want to learn English as a second language, and found your video after researching degrees that might help me accomplish that goal. Thank you for the great info!
Thank you so much for this video. I was not sure about communication certificate. You opened my mind.
I'm in between choosing English or Communications as my major. English was my first yet hearing something like this has my head spinning again. It takes 1 thing to change my mind completely. 😵
I’m on the same boat. Did you end up deciding?
@@fanyr4319 Hello, I'll be attending college next year and completely understand where you're at. If you're pursuing a reliable future (with more opportunities), Communications is 100% the way to go. English degrees typically land you a niche job, and these types of jobs are becoming more scarce every day. I considered an English degree as well, but communications will inevitably teach you more, offer you more opportunities, and you could often land a similar job by having a strong communications background anyway. Also, maybe try a double major or major/minor to get the best of both degrees. Hope this helps, I'll be praying for ya! I hate these types of decisions as well lol
Communications Studies all the way! I’m double majoring in Psychology and Communication Studies.
Funny enough, I chose being an English major with a focus on writing. I chose it to master the skill of analysis and refinement of information in the most efficient way possible. I haven’t finished my degree yet, but now I’ve myself researching Comms MA’s because I want to apply that skill to an organizational level.
Chose something in stem, psychology, or social worker those 2 majors will not get you a job. I have a ba in communication and no job
I hear but also your personality is everything. ❤
I am graduating from COMNs this year and have an ambivalent outlook on my potential career but this video helped me assuage some of those fears a little bit, thanks.
Did you get a good paying job yet?
@@Mastinox803 I did, I went to work with my dad in construction. But there are other fields I was interested in that didn't necessarily encompass most of what my degree taught me. There are options but I think my degree was just my first step. That and I didn't have a clear vision of what I wanted to be. Now things are different, I'm learning more skills and trying to gain as many experiences I can so I set my sights on where I really want to go. Then I'll be able to get to where I really want to be.
Thanks this made me a lot more confident about my major im in communications and international business
Loved this Video! Thank you!
I majored in "Communication & Conflict" and I feel I wasted 4 years grinding for it. Majority of interesting jobs in my opinion is "writer jobs", "Social Media jobs", or other various real estate jobs + HR. I hear its a great degree all the time but so far no luck with finding my short term career.
This one tells you how it is. Not like the clown selling you false hopes in the video.
In the past 3 months has anything changed I’m curious
Comms major here but with a minor in environmental science! So excited
How do I break into this field as 2019 Rutgers Alum?
I am majoring in Journalism, Communications, and Film. I feel that Communications is needed for every aspect of your travels through life period. Where would we be without communication? Thank you for your information once again and hope I will keep your advice close to me.
Hey there! You go, girl! My dream would be to be Comm major with a Film and Cinema concentration with a Marketing minor (having tough luck finding all three). If I may ask, where are you studying? (If you don't feel comfortable saying I completely understand as well). Hope your experience has been great!
Thank you for this video!!!
currently I would like to be a academic advisor.
This reminds when I was in a technical high school and all the shop teachers had a sales pitch. Craziest was the graphic teacher telling us that the people that print the money is graphic designers like that was our next step. 😂
It was inspiring at 13 but it would have been better to talk about students careers after they graduated.
Much appreciated 🙏🏼🇹🇹
Does This Degree Help With Getting a EMD Job or a Telephone Customer Service Job?
Hey I really appreciate this ! do you know of any online degree programs for communication majors ? 🧡
University of North Dakota has an online program for Communications😊
Brigham Young University - Idaho has a really good online program too
So does Dallas Baptist University. Fully online and you’ll get a full ride scholarship if you apply. Great school
Thank you
At my university the major is called “Communication Studies”. I wonder if that’s true elsewhere
It's true at the college I went to in the South.
The way I am so drained, I am a BA Communication and Languages graduate from South Africa and I graduated last year in the 4th of May 2022 and would you believe me when I say I only scored only 1 interview since I've graduated and I am actively applying for internships, In-service trainings with no luck. What could be the problem?😭😭😭
There is no problem. Its just that there are so many people seeking very few opportunities. You can open a marketing and communications agency. Keep on applying for formal work, but also sit down and think about the business you can open. You can also open a UA-cam Channel because you have communication skills, and that way you become a broadcaster. Think wide, think solutioins....
It seems communication tries toget you to take as many other paths as possible
thanks
what can you do? Nothing.
A lot of the narrower subjects will teach aspects of communication that are applicable. I learned more in free Is Al-Anon meetings, English and a free video pastors give people a month before marriage then I did in class.
I completely pointless degree just so you can give more money to the government wonderful and it’s sad. You support it to Buddy.
waffing
College today is not about education. Its about making money. Communications degree? Nope. Notice how this guy is making these videos about useless degrees instead of being in the market and earning it. Making youtube videos requires no degree. Selling BS does. This is why so many people are in student debt. Taking worthless degrees and not getting the career people like this promised you. I see another one of his videos in the side bar about a sociology degree...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Nothing
