  • Just like in Golf and many other sports, a PROPER FRAME OF MIND is crucial to success. Fish can sense danger and your intensity!
A few MISCONCEPTIONS we've discovered while filming underwater.
HOW FISH BECOME CONDITIONED and therefore difficult to catch.

This would explain the booger fish (catching a fish while picking your nose, the cell phone scrolling fish, sandwich break fish etc... interesting to be sure.

There's a study about how animals/prey can sense when they are being targeted and stalked by a predator. It is a deeply rooted instinct that all animals have. Maybe that's why when we are really focused on catching fish those fishes can sense our presence and know they are being watched and targeted deterring them from our lures/baits.

It's an absolute fact - made a 25 year study on it. Next time you see a school of fish, or flock of birds, stare continuously at just at one of them. Thanks for watching and commenting! Rick

Hes right. Sometimes unconventional tactics work. I was getting massive crappie hits on a dropshot setup with a treble hook. I put a tiny grub on each hook and secured the gubs with stretch line and covered it in garlic juice lol

Caught a 4lb bass on a top water plopper. It hit when I stopped retrieving to scratch my nose 😂

    Love your video.
Can we please have a video on high viz mono+Floro leader vs low viz mono+Floro leader leader being 18inches , two of the most common float fishing rigs .
Would love to see if it really makes a diff.
This will help the steelheading community a lot

In clear water both monos would have an adverse effect with JUST 18 inches of leader. I have a friend that uses high vis Nanofil right to a swivel, then 36 inches of fluro. leader from there. Simon can throw and mend that stuff like a magician and out fishes everyone around him. Me personally? I do things a lot differently. I keep spools/reels fully loaded with 300 + yds of Fluorocarbon (4/6/8)- straight up! Expensive to be sure, but I never use leaders. Knots are a weak point, and when you have to retie....all that tying and shot (I'm too old)! I'd rather spend that time fishing. Not for everyone to be certain. I will continue to experiment this October, and make a study on different monos as I did on Flourocarbons. The manufacturers may not like it, but I have no sponsors, actually. The intros are Bob's old/defunct sponsors. Thank you Durvesh! Good question.

    Awesome breakdown!
No wonder why those pressured days, remaining timid and calm seems to catch the most action

So I am pondering if the size of the line really matters then?...
