About six months ago I bought from a dealer a RX1R ii which was mint, boxed with the featured Fotodiox grip, lens hood, and a set of filters, and came with a 12 month warranty. It is an absolute joy to use, and the image quality is stunning. The combination of the 48MP sensor with the Zeiss lens allows severe cropping, and still obtain great images. I have found when photographing that because of the camera's compact size people take no notice of it.
@@photostuff I must have been extremely fortunate in buying it when I did as another branch of the dealer has one for sale at a staggering £800 more than I paid for mine.
Which Camera between the Ricoh GRIIIX and Sony RX1R has the sharpest Lens as I know that image Qaulity from the Ricoh is Razor Sharp because of the GR Lens, is it sharper than the Sony RX1R
Wonderful video for a very underrated and misunderstood camera. I highly recommend getting rid of the filter (even if it is for protection). The best performance it shows when used with a really long lens hood and without any filters. Except ND filters when theres too much light. Too bad I sold mine :(
I had all models of the Rx1 series, and IMHO the RX1R of the first generation has the best image quality, outstanding actually , mark II got better AF and is a little faster but more noise and less battery life.
Thanks. I’ve been wondering what I would prefer, a Leica Q2 or the RX1r ii If offered a regular Q against the RX1R ii I would definitely go with the Sony.
Great video. I love these compact cameras. Recently got a Rx1r. It has a bit of fungus on the front element. Do you have any idea if it's possible to remove that front element? Maybe with a rubber cone to unscrew it? Thanks for the review.
Try leaving it near a window in direct sunlight for a few days (of course don’t let it get too hot) That should help kill off some if not all of the lens fungus
My recently purchased a Sony Rx 1 and I love it. Whenever I change the battery I t forces me to reset the date and time. Have you experienced this problem or do I have a faulty camera. Let me know. I love your video. It was very informative. I also recently purchased a Ricoh. GRiii. However I didn’t get them a very good price. I like them both. However knowing what I know now, I probably would not have gotten the RX1 if I had gotten the GR First. I love the image quality out of both of them. However I often crop and the images from the RX allows for adequate cropping. The GR is easier and fun to use and I shoot mainly scenery and still life.
The RX1 has an internal battery that could be about ten years old. It should also be recharged when you use the camera often. Try forcing the camera to stay on for a long time.. like several hours and charge the battery with a USB connected to the camera. Hope this works out for you :-)

Love my Sony RX1R II 48mp Full-frame, one of the best cameras. Compact, Sharp, and very easy to use. Unfortunately, I have to sell it to a because of the pandemic. Sold for a fair price of 1,000 USD.
OMG, that's such a low price! It's a shame it had to go. I'd love the mark II version with the built in view finder and the tilt screen. That would be my dream camera! I'm so sorry you had to do that. I hope you come out of this pandemic situation in a better position than now and you're able to rebuild.
Difficult to say, when we’re talking about fractions of seconds. In my experience, it’s similar to the Ricoh and the A7ii I have. I’ve never used it in good light and thought, this is slow.
I recently tryed one for an always with me option and not to have to bring my a7RV. The size was a dream. This small camera but with the great fullframe sensor. I had hi hopes for the Zeiss Lens. But i was so disappointed by it. I love to shoot wide open and at F2 the lens wasn‘t sharp enough for me. I liked the sharpness from F5.6. So it was usuelles for me. A Max shutter speed of 2000sek isn‘t that good for bright daylight neither. I returned it.

Awesome. I’d love the version 2 with the tiltable screen and built in evf.

I’m so jealous! That’s what I’m looking for.
i have one sony RX1R , because this is a fantastic full fame camera and very much appreciated for this video review. good job buddy
Thank you very much. Sadly I sold mine. I’m downsizing my gear. It will be missed :)

Cracking review, I’m buying one.

The filter is gone now. I noticed it was causing some exaggerated flares in bright sunlight.
Thanks for the review, very much appreciated.
I'd love to try one out, thanks for the review.

22:39 Why is the "Change" option there at the bottom then? They are not fixed.
I did not know that, thanks. Pity I can’t try it out.
This is definitely a Leica contender. I wonder why this camera does not get much love
Because everyone likes a newer camera vs an older camera. That's why everyone upgrades just for the newest. When sometimes older isn't bad at all.
@@ElReySupr3me totally agree
The Sony RX1R is next up on my to-buy list! Thanks for this great review.
You’re welcome ☺
Gracias, muy interesante. Me encanta la idea de una fullframe pequeña, pero en estos momentos sigue siendo costosa.
Great video. I love these compact cameras.

Sorry, I’ve never had to try that.
You should be able to use a lens screw to take off the front element

I’m thinking of getting an original RX1, for a good price. I’m mainly a landscape shooter, does the slow autofocus matter for landscapes? Thanks
I’d say no. For landscape you have a lot of control over the camera in a stable environment, so focusing won’t be a problem.

I haven’t really done that comparison, but they’re both sharp. Neither of them have an AA filter.
Hope you’re having a great day boss
well, thank you very much. You too :)
RXIR II still best choice
How’s the autofocus speed vs the grx and vs the sony a7?
It hunts a bit in very low light. I’m uploading a video in a minute where I use Touch AF on the GR3x in low light.

What about autofocus speed in rx1? Is it as slow as many reviewers say?

The only thing I hate about my RX1...is the dust on the sensor. Man that infuriates me
Yeah, I got a dust speck on mine too. But it’s gone now - the camera - I sold it :(
Great review, do you prefer the Sony RX1 vs the Cann 90D? Thank you!
Haven’t used a 90d, sorry. However I can’t ever see myself owning DSLR. I prefer compact cameras.
