Besides the absolute beauty of this aircraft and the work to build and fly is the appreciation of our American aircraft for the other nations people to build and display them. Same as at our fields when we see the German, British, Russian aircraft and more...simple put, we all love the FLYING MACHINE! We the viewers cannot thank you enough for the total enjoyment of the art of flight........
Dear Scott. Thank you very much for your great comment. I fully agree about the various types of rc aircrafts built in different countries without any hate of what they were used during WWII. I would appreciate if you want to have a look at some other videos I've uploaded. For example .... ua-cam.com/play/PLe3kFcprrqUPGcP8oonNVp9vSiAciivaP.html or ... m.ua-cam.com/play/PLe3kFcprrqUN-x0tQIA_-heWL4WRacX4g.html _Best regards, RCSA_
this is the first RC replica i've ever seen that looks like it has the same flying characteristics as the real plane, the proportional acceleration and the way it drifts on takeoff. Most RC replicas are over powered and over propped which makes them look twitchy and unrealistic in flight but this one appears to lumber and struggle on takeoff like the real thing. the power to weight ratio on this RC has to be close to what the original B17's were.... Good Job!!!
Incredible aircraft. My dad was a lead pilot in the 398th bomb group so this model is particularly significant. I showed him the video and he thought it was amazing. Thanks for posting and making his day!
Eight years ago, I took a ride in the EAA Aluminum Overcast at EAA. How exciting it was. I was so inspired by the ride, at later fly-ins, I rode their B-25 and their Ford Tri Motor. Three chances of a lifetime, eh? I'm so fortunate!
I have been a static scale model airplane builder all my life, been fortunate enough to win some awards at model contests during those years. I just wanted you to know that I think your Big Fort is a real work of art. It's absolutely gorgeous with regards to the lines of the airframe, down to the smallest details. I wished the props could be scale replica's of the standard 3 bladed props but still, the aircraft is an absolute love of art. I tip my hat to the builder of the aircraft, the painter, the person that weathered the Natural metal look as well. In every aspect, it looks like the real thing and sounds like one too. I can't find a better way of complimenting the effort that went into making this bird. Thank you again for posting this video to share with us. Many, Many Thanks.
Many thank's Pete !!! Until now nobody noticed, that just before lift off, the rudder was without function. Before lift off Peter has to correct on the runway with the aileron (the plane slightly tipped to the right). He did a great job flying it under this conditions and he brought it back safely. Best regards, Horst
Appreciate seeing the amazing accomplishments of modeling scaled aircraft. Truely is a treat in seeing this tribute to American aircraft. My hat is off to you sir. Brought tears to my eyes watching her take to the skies. Thank you for sharing. Canada
_Thank you for your kind words. You can also find more videos of this B-17 by watching the play list of FALCON WINGS_ m.ua-cam.com/play/PLe3kFcprrqUPGcP8oonNVp9vSiAciivaP.html
I just spent the last 30+ minutes watching the Flickr slideshow. What a fantastic aircraft. It's good to know there are still people out there putting in this kind of effort!
Two dislikes? How? I flew R/C planes for years (I guess in the early days...). I sure love seeing these videos. I thought 1/4 scale with four cycle glow engines was something. It takes me back. Thank you so much.
That is one of the finest pieces of flying art I have seen, I'd love to watch is in person some day. The attention to detail is difficult to find words for. I am beyond impressed. I have to add this, I caught myself clapping my hands upon observing the landing, just so realistic, made me think I was in that space and time when they were doing their real life work. Thank you for sharing this, I enjoyed it tremendously.
Exceptional plane,Have never seen one fly in real life but have to belive it would not sound much diffrent than this model, very realistic landing with 1 engine out like they used to come home after a mission all those years ago, great vid as usual, pilot flew it very well. Thanks for the vid.
Great flying this amazing plane of yesterday. My mother worked on building the leading edge in between the two engines when she was in her 20's. Thanks for keeping the history going about the airframe.
Thank you very much Orie, for your superb comment, which I greatly appreciate. Until now nobody noticed, that just before lift off, the rudder was without function. Before lift off Peter has to correct on the runway with the aileron (the plane slightly tipped to the right). He did a great job flying it under this conditions and he brought it back safely. Best regards, RCSA
jonesy97 *_thank you for your kind comments._* You're very lucky to have the opportunity to get a ride on such a historical aircraft. One day I will try to get a flight too. 😎
I got to ride on the aluminum overcast myself and it was a dream come true. Pics and videos just can't relay the awesomeness of being on board flying while sitting in the bombardier seat. The beauty of looking out the plexiglass nose. And I have the jacket to prove I flew on her.
Many thanks Christopher for your nice comment and compliments. Much appreciated ! Yes, it would be great to see it on tv. The next project of this club is to build 4 giant Junkers Ju-188 ... and they has already started !!! Best regards, RCSA
Many thanks for your great comment. You're right ... the "Falcon Wings" are really fantastic guys and we have always a lot of fun at the airfield. Best regards, RCSA
I got a chance to see the real "Aluminium Overcast" May, 2013. I took many photos and my I say, whoever built this aircraft did one hell of a job on replicating the real bird. My hats off to you all! She's got a pretty good pilot as well.
Thank you very much for your great comment, David. I'm glad to know that you liked watching the video. If you like, you can watch another video of this plane > 19 ft. B-17 "Flying Fortress" Flying Together With 6 Other Warbirds Best regards, RCSA
Peter, congratulations. A beautifully built and flown model. You impressed me by staying calm when the cowl popped on one of the engines, and you had one of them stop. Nice landing. Over all a very impressive display. Rob
Well Done. Absolutely the best RC sound I have ever heard! It would stir the soul of any WWII warrior who is still among us. My father, god rest him, would have killed to marvel at such a sight. I'm so so impressed by your talent.
Many thanks Bengt for your kind comment. You're right. I always get hearthbeat behind the camera. It's very impressive to see it live! Best regards, Horst
Vielen Dank Joel.
With nose art this time. Very nice. II have had the fortune to see the real plane and many others close up and all together. Awesome to see them fly over your back yard.
That is one amazing B-17! Excellent craftsmanship - enjoyed your build photos as well. Congratulations on successful flights, despite an engine stopping and a hatch opening.
B-17 "Flying Fortress" Flying Together With 6 Other Warbirds Viele Grüße, RCSA
Many thanks Stig, for your kind comment. The video Oberhausen 2013 is under work and will be uploaded soon. Also thank you for your subscription to my channel, which I appreciate very much!!! Best regards, Horst
Thank you Matthew for your kind comment ! Having two flights with two engine shut-off's means that it's not very relaxing for the pilot. At the 2nd flight only one engine failed. After touchdown the ignition of the inner engines were shut down. It seams that the 42cc engines are overstressed and therefore they were replaced by bigger (65cc) one.
Hi, I'm an airline pilot and also fly RC but this airplane is beautiful. The pilot technique and detailed almost scale flying is great. Congratulations ,nice model and nice flying....best luck ever
Wow! Stunning Flying Fortress! What dedication and craftsmanship it took to accomplish a build of this caliper. Outstanding pilot also! Great video, thank you for sharing...
Many thanks Mike for your great comment. Also I've never seen a real B-17 ... I missed it at the Hahnweide Air Show in 2009 and it was only 45 miles from my home. What a shame :( One day I should visit the "Flying Legends Air Show" at Duxford U.K. Best regards, Horst
What a really beutiful plane. Superb detail and it even sounds real. Credit to all the hours that have been put into building it. Thank you for the vid. John Kinnane Tasmania Australia
You're right. An engine has failed. The "stuttering" is more the frequency of all motors. Meanwhile, the engines were replaced by others, and thereby also 3-blade propellers can now be used. Regarding the amount of fuel I can not give any information. I must ask the pilot. Best regards, RCSA
What a Marvelous Plane.... My friends father was a gunner in the B-17! I am going to send him your video, so he can send this to his dad! Beautiful landing by the way and NICE flying too! God Bless and thanks for sharing!

Amazing aircraft (can not call it "model"), very realistic flight. And, of course, golden hands, that have built it.
Many thanks Christopher for your nice comment and compliments. Much appreciated !

what a beautiful job on that aircraft! To me you did the B-17 proud with the craftsman ship of the build!
Thanks for your kind comment. Yes, the engine hood opened because it was not properly locked. This airfield is normally used by full scale aircraft.
