Maybe a few words for the first flight.
The rudder throw were partly 80% too big.
After a short time, one receiver has failed, bad antenna installation.
when Gear pull in, 11 Kg move backwards.
it is a self-construction, we only calculated the center of gravity.

How much did it cost to build? The trailer looks expensive too!

    • @FOB-SCALE

It's been a long time, I think I do not want the price.
      the trailer is also homemade.

I'm guessing 50,000 Euros for the plane. Is there a website that shows more about the plane? I'd love to see the details.

FOB1449 what engines is she running ?
Also, for safety reasons, I'd move the axle back on that trailer about 12" (30.5 cm). Otherwise you'll likely get trailer sway.

When I was stationed in Germany in the 1970’s, my landlord Herr Mohr was like a 2nd father to me. He was always very mild mannered and the nicest person you would ever want to meet. One day he showed me his 3 Iron Crosses. I was amazed. One of them was from his time in JU88’s. I was even more amazed. Now I can see what he flew. You have resurrected a part of flying history. Awesome.

For your information I have to add that this is not a JU-88, but a JU-188. Nevertheless, I think that Mr. Mohr would have been happy if he could have seen this model in person.

I guess knowing the standard wing profile taken from the library and used for the wing, as well as knowing the centroid, one could calculate aerodynamic forces and moments. In 1990 our special class gained experience in measuring air pressure on a straight rectangular wing with symmetric profile in ЦАГИ. We also calculated spars. You should be able to draw performance graphs and have clear expectations :).

Very nice model and a lot of hard work. Some people have no comprehension of the effort or the fact that if you scratchbuild something the first flight is going to be perfect. Post more video as you get it trimmed and familiarity is established. Thanks for sharing the video.

Super gemacht! Gratulation!
Allzeit guten Flug ! Holm und Rippenbruch

I have flown planes with the CG too far aft and they took off just like this one and where just as much a handful the whole flight. A heart stopper of a landing, glad you saved it.

Even the trailer is a work of art! What a magnificent airplane this is... and a scary event the maiden flight for such a valuable plane.
Went amazingly well considering all the trimming needed... a 'puckering' flight though! Flaps looked rather small and landing was nail-biting but, safe thank goodness.
    Epic video Horst. :)

_Hi Chris. Thank you for the compliments._
There was some difficulty moments and a lot of trimming was necessary. Still some setups has to be done. If you consider that the CG changes enormously at gear up and gear down, because of 11kg movement, you will understand how tricky it was.
      _Cheers, Horst_

Top stuff and balls of steel for flying it. I doubt any of the heroes bagging your skills have spent so long and so much on building a plane of this quality, see how they would go. There's plenty of vids of this bloke flying on UA-cam and he knows what he is doing, ever heard of nerves?
