- During the virus lockdown I had the spare time to fit a factory reverse camera and wiring loom to my wife's Mazda 2. The camera came with the wiring loom to connect to the factory infotainment system.
Filmed by my daughter who is 10 and also in lockdown missing school ;)

I also did this without removing the bumper.A bit fidlly with the grommet just under the left rear taillight.I started from the back up to the front.It was a lot easier after seeing this video,let me tell you that..so thanks for this video!
Bumper is only 15 mins to remove so not too bad but well done one completing the job successfully 😁👍
@@Automotive_Solutions Just one question..I noticed when i routed the wiring that there was no panel under the dash i.e. the steering column was visible.I have a left hand drive car but still used the left side of the car(as you did)to route the wiring.I saw you remove a panel from under the glovebox,which in your case is on the left also.Is there no panel under the steering column?

How do i know reverse power that will trigger screen
Iv connected everything but screen is not reciving
At the start of the video. When you was taking the plastic panel covers inside the wheel arch.
Then theres like “carpet like panel covers” next to the plastic covers at the 2min mark.
Were there meant to be those carpet panel covers in the inner wheel arch? I have a 2016 mazda 2 hatch .
Mine seems to be missing. Its just plain exposed body panels or expose wheel arch?
I think the one your talking about is the one that covers the fuel filler pipe on the passenger side. It stops the dirt collecting around those pipes. I'm pretty sure you should have one there as well. 👍

Yeah, because my cx5 has those carpet like covers in the wheel arch as well as the plastic covers. Yes
It prevents dirt, water, mud from going in holes or/ wires etc to protect wiring like the brake fluid pump line. Also other electrical wiring.
Yes, mine pretty much looks “open exposed panels”.
Hi, Great work. would you mind sharing how long this work took?, I signed a contract for new Mazda 6 in Germany, dealer promised to install rear parking camera for additional cost, now they are backing off.
Took me a few hours including filming. Also I was very careful with trim removal as I'd never worked on one of these before. At a guess, a dealer tech should be able to do this in a couple of hours. 😁

It's plug and play. The harness comes with a connector that goes in place of the original connection on the head unit. This original connector then plugs into a second connection in the new harness. You'll see when you get it.

A fantastic video, really appreciate it. I was told my the Mazda dealer that you can't retrofit a camera to the car...I wonder if you can do the same with rear parking sensors, retrofit them so the distance bars show up on screen. I've had a look at the suppliers website but I could not see the reserving camera option on there. I hope you can help, cheers👍
On our vehicle the reversing sensors were already installed from the factory and the distance bars come up automatically once you install the camera and wiring loom. If you haven't got reversing sensors then you need to check if the camera upgrade would work - something I can't help you with. Speak to the company I got it from because they can probably get hold of it for you. 👍

The manual is really good fun, and we want to upgrade to an automatic, preferably still with Mazda 2, I've just been very hesitant about moving to an automatic. Any advice is appreciated... Cheers 👍
@@nayanmistry4641 - my wife only has auto license so we had no choice but it's really smooth and effortless. I prefer an auto over manual anyway.

Just came across this video. Well done. I notice your mobile phone holder fits perfectly to the dashboard. Where did you get that from?
I used a brodit mount for dash and then used the appropriate brodit phone holder for my phone which screws into the dash bracket. They are quality mounts with no screwing or holes in dash.

Hi looking at doing on my wifes car , and was wondering if it could be done without removing the bumper, as there is quite a big gap behind?
From what I remember it would be tricky to run the loom properly without removing the bumper. It doesn't actually take that long.

Hi, could you please share the actual link for all the parts? I have checked on the website you've suggested and it is not listed there. Additionally, will it work for Mazda 2014?
I don't have part numbers so you'll have to do some digging yourself. If the 2014 Mazda is the same shape then should be good but check with part supplier first. You should be able to order from Mazda at the local dealer.

Hi, the lines on the screen don't move when reversing.
Does the parking sensors still work?
Yes, parking sensors work as normal and camera switches on as soon as you select reverse as well. 😁

It's a morning's work. Most of it was taking care with the trim/bumper/removal. 👍

Best place is Mazda main dealer to make sure you get the correct parts although there are sellers on eBay selling these too. I have also bought some genuine Mazda stuff from this dealer ... www.sgpetch.co.uk/darlington

@@Automotive_Solutions Yep! I just asked and they said it would. Would you think a second hand original reverse camera (same part number) be fine to use since brand new is quite pricey? Do the cameras have a long life-span?
@@urbanstealth4070 I would imagine the camera would have a fairly long lifespan in normal use. The only thing that becomes a problem is when you fit it all and it doesn't work 😯. Is it the secondhand part at fault or not 🤔. You pays your money and takes your choice. Good luck 😁.

Aah okei but here in Norway it’s veryyy expensive to buy things at the Mazda dealershop. But I can’t find the camera or wiring loom, do I have a direct link to the camera and loom? Or a eBay link please?
