I would sell my kidney for a full bible breakdown from Wendigoon. Like a 50 episode series where he gives us a tell-all. I would consider myself more agnostic but goddamn I love the stories in the Bible.
I'm a firm believer that the bible is almost all allegory to something else other than the fantastical elements which could be explained as translation errors over the years of translating from one language to another. (It also could be seen as maybe Aliens as well, since the description of the ophanim being rings within rings that are on FIRE with eyes around the rings and an individual in the centre sounds A LOT like the traditional idea of what a flying saucer with a passenger looks like.) And seriously, if you think about it - wouldnt an alien say some shit like "be not afraid" to some primitive societies that probably WOULD perceive them as gods or angels after doing some in-vitro fertilization and having a virgin birth would certainly reinforce that idea. Just my 2 cents!
Literally the biggest reason I love your Christianity lore videos is because I never feel like you're trying to sell me something. Even when you're geeking out over how cool it is, because it is cool, and now I have a safe place to learn about it.
People do have wrong idea about teology in general - as science about religion and its culture aspects, its usually confused with praying itself. Its fascinating subject, happy that people cover it!
When my younger brother was around 3 years old, my mom was a Sunday studies teacher for the church. We were at the church, rehearsing for a choir when my brother wandered off a bit. He pushed his head through a hole in an ornate podium on the temple and got stuck. He panicked and started crying and thrashing. My mom couldn't get him out and was on the verge of tears herself. The rest of us were all kids, no one knew what to do. Then this man came in, we didn't see where from because we were all watching the situation. He didn't say a word, just put his hands around my brother's head and gently guided him out. My mom immediately huged my brother and was calming him and then turned to thank the stranger but he wasn't there anymore. She ran outside the temple, but he was nowhere to be seen. I saw him. My sister saw him. My mom and brother did (although my brother was too young and doesn't remember), and a bunch of kids from the choir were there too. I don't remember his face, but he was dressed in a gray suit. To this day, we all believe he was an angel.
I have a simular story, when I was 14 I lived in fort worth Texas, there was a tornado one night and the lady that lived across the street was stuck in her car, no one could help her, no one could get to her. About 3 minutes into her being trapped in the car some man came and helped her out of the car and helped her get inside. The man then wandered off into the tornado. I saw him, my mom and dad saw him, the lady obviously saw him but days after the tornado the lady went door to door all over the neighborhood to find this man to thank him. Needless to say she never found him and no one knew what she was talking about. Angel maybe?
i love the thought of an angel coming down to earth and over to help out what he was told was a mortal child in need, and then just sees the brother stuck in the podium and is like "Really? *This* is what I was called for?"
One of my favorite stories in the Bible is Jacob wrestling with an Angel for his blessing. Such an insane thing to imagine, and the audacity to even square up with one. Wild.
Not Jesus per se. Jacob alludes to having faced God Himself, as he names the place where they wrestled "The Face of God." Moreover, whether it was an angel or a deity who faced Jacob, they did so in the form of a man. Although the logistics of trying to wrestle a four-winged, four-wheeled, fiery angel would be at the very least, interesting.
@@DerickMasai Definitely is Jesus, there’s clear indicators that it is, and in the Hebrew it says that he literally wrestled God and met him face-to-face. That’s why he was renamed Israel by God. Israel literally means wrestles with God. Additionally A mere angel does not have the authority to rename a human being, if we go off the New Testament, Jesus declares to us that we have authority even over the angels, because were made in the image of God. God gives us dominion over this earth and in the garden of Eden he gave Adam the power to name everything that was created. Therefore, logically the only person who can overrule the name that was bestowed by man is God.
@@wahoostacos2095 Exactly. Everything you said is very correct except for alluding that it is Jesus. This is pure conjecture. The passage speaks of God, not Jesus. And as you can recall God is the one who interacted with man more in the Old Testament so I simply don't know where you're getting this other than your own assumptions.

My dad told me one time about when he was a kid, he went on vacation to a skiing lodge with his parents and brother. While on the ski lift...thing, his scarf got caught in the pulley system or whatever pulls the lil swing things along, and was slowly starting to strangle him as it pulled tighter and tighter around his throat. Suddenly, two girls in white puffy winter coats walked up to the emergency stop button and pressed it, allowing my dad to be saved. Afterward, my dad and his parents wanted to find the girls to thank them for saving his life, but they were told that no one else had seen the girls, and there were no girls at the lodge matching that description. Furthermore, there were no footprints seen in the snow leading up to or away from the emergency stop button. My dad holds the firm belief to this day that those two girls were guardian angels who saved his life that day.
I think I might have met those same two girls 👧 angels too in Cleveland they were feeding homeless people and asked if any one wanted prayer 🙏 I. Said yes the. One who. Prayed. For. Me. I. Won't. Say. Nothing but I should have been dead long time ago
Thrones are also called Ophanim. The saying "God sees everything" comes from the Ophanim. Ophanim are not only the wheels on God's throne, they are the "security cameras" of existence for these multi-eyed, gyroscopic wheels see everything in all directions.
You’re the first person I’ve watched who included how angels were sanitized during the renaissance for their painting commissions. I took an art history course when learning how to illustrate and learned that the Renaissance is HUGELY IMPORTANT in how we perceive heavenly beings and satanic beings today. Renaissance art is pretty much the basis for the more relatable depictions of angels in particular.
I think they may have tried to water the depictions down to try to (with a lack of better words) lure in any non christians or remaining Greek religious people.
As someone who isn't religious, I find the concept of angels and stuff to be fascinating. I also appreciate the way you have approached this topic and your courtesy towards others beliefs. Watched the whole video, by the way.
I'm 100% sure that these descriptions of the seraphim, cherubim and thrones are originating from psychedelic experiences because they are exactly what you experience when consuming copious amounts of mushrooms and stuff. And I think that the strict hierarchical depictions and maybe even a few of the less archaic angel types are inventions to support the authoritarian nature of the church and stuff. I think a lot the old experiences and visions have been very real to the prophets but have been bastardized and twisted by the church to enforce a system that god if they exist would never have wanted.

The phrase truth is stranger than fiction is what comes to mind when the angels are described. Nothing man has created with his imagination is anywhere near as unsettling and awe inspiring as the angelic hosts.

@@TheSavageGentMeaning that angels don't actually have a physical form. Merkabah, also spelled Merkaba, is the divine light vehicle allegedly used by ascended masters to connect with and reach those in tune with the higher realms. "Mer" means Light. "Ka" means Spirit. "Ba" means Body. Mer-Ka-Ba means the spirit/body surrounded by counter-rotating fields of light, (wheels within wheels), spirals of energy as in DNA, which transports spirit/body from one dimension to another.
Exactly, I fit into that more agnostic category. I see religion as a way for society to better itself, but it has been perverted by human nature for its greed. Don’t get me wrong their are some that still have that ideal, but it seems to be a minority. Jewish and Islamic views also have the one god. But so much fighting over who’s one god is better? I saw an orphanim in a dream once It was a wonderful experience. It appeared and I watched it move around in my dream. I also believe I met an angel in person once. It was in the wintertime of 2020. I was going outside to the bus stop to get to work. I was feeling completely awful and guilty because I did something I shouldn't have done the night before. I sat down and the snow began to fall. I averted my eyes for a moment and when I looked up a man was coming near. He had brilliant eyes. I had never met him before. He asked me "can I pray for you." I said yes. He prayed for me and then he ran down the sidewalk away from me. It was so bizarre but incredibly comforting. My shame melted away as he prayed. To my knowledge I've never seen him again. The amount of peace I felt after that stuck with me through out the day and for many days afterwards. I'll never forget that interaction.
My grandpa and two uncles once encountered two angels that helped to fix their truck in snowy conditions but were not dressed for the weather. They were walking along the road in the middle of nowhere and helped with the truck but when my grandpa turned to thank them, they were gone. Best angel story I’ve ever heard.
A similar thing happened to my father. He was taking a long drive in the dead of night on an empty highway. And he saw some sort of place off the road so he pulled over thinking maybe he could get some gas. So he hopped out and it was very eerie and incredibly dark, and he was already scared, and he kept walking until he was walking on stone and suddenly saw a weeping angel statue and saw a creepy sign that read Newman’s cemetery. He ran back to the truck, looked both ways and there was no cars, then was about to fill up the tank with his emergency can of gas when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turns around and there’s a mustached cop and a cop car right behind his truck with a completely identical cop leaning against the hood. They said to him something like “You shouldn’t stop on roads like this at night.” And he got in his truck and left. He looked in his review mirror, and the car and the cops were gone.
If they were in Wyoming, those were just the locals. We acclimate to the winter quickly and are prone to wearing "inappropriate" clothing for the weather
my dad and uncle had the same thing! They rolled their car in a very remote area somehow. they were fine and so was the car, but they could't get it flipped upright. Out of nowhere these two guys in a Citi Golf show up, flip the car, and disappeared before my dad could thank them.

I don't believe there is a higher power personally, at least not in the traditional manner of a being overseeing life and being responsible for creating it. I believe in certain vague concepts such as mother nature- not in the sense that mother nature controls or actively influences us, but that it connects us with nature and other living things. This doesn't mean that everything is equal, it just means I respect that everything out there is trying to survive. From viruses, to parasites, to fish, birds, etc. We all share a common goal of wanting to continue to survive. Anyways. It’s because it’s true. We intrinsically drawn to it and we know if our hearts this secular world isn’t what it seems. Or that’s just my take I believe it to be true but definitely difficult to absorb it
its honestly refreshing to hear a non-believer enjoy the Bible. its easy as a Christian to be defensive all the time due to tribulation, its nice to hear positive feedback
Story from one of my friends: A Mormon man from Hong Kong was doing his mission in England, but could barely speak a word of English. He was feeling pretty stressed out and downtrodden, till (his words) a beautiful woman saw him having a breakdown and started talking to him perfectly in Cantonese to comfort him and offer support. Later, when he was describing the encounter to some of his friends he said "I think I met an angel?" When he described her, they realized it was in fact our mutual friend Claire, who has a doctorate in languages, and just happens to be a lovely person.
While I may be atheist, that sounds like a very good example of what Jesus wanted from his followers, loving others as yourself, and “what you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me.” Sometimes when people see those in need as like Jesus, they can become an example of His love for those they help. Sorry if this doesn’t make sense, it’s been a long time since I’ve talked about this stuff, but this would have made me very happy years ago, and still makes me happy. Thanks for sharing the story. 😊
I think the most special thing about humanity when compared to angels, is the way that God created us. Angels, like all other days of creation, are made impersonally, simply through God's voice or words. However, the first humans were literally made with God's own hands and breath, in His own image in an intimate fashion... as if all other things and beings before our creation is truly catered for us. This emphasizes God's love to humanity, and why He treats us differently compared to other created beings like angels(we seem to have much more free will and more chances to redeem ourselves from sin, unlike Satan).
I grew up being taught Christianity in church school, and I found it awfully boring, but you’re video has allowed me to find an appreciation and wonder in the stories about angels in the bible and that’s something I was super impressed by :) Thank you for the work you put into this video and keep up your amazing work and research because every video you make is fascinating. Wendigoon, you’ve really helped open my eyes to the nuances and beauty of Christianity. I’ve always tried to respect people’s religions, but I must admit I had a very simplistic, often reductive view of Christianity. This is mainly due to the particular breed of fundamentalist Christianity that I was exposed to as I grew up, which I resented and regularly found to be harmful. I’m glad to say you’ve shown me how foolish I was in casting those feelings and thoughts over the whole of a religion. Thanks again Wendigoon :)

Yeah once you start digging into more specifically Catholic theology, you’ll find that Catholicism really gives, the fullest picture of what Christianity is all about, and more importantly WHY. Like I had so many questions and it lead to me the Catholic Church, quite the plot twist for me personally
@@ameliaweresmintgreen No, Catholicism is not what Christianity is all about. Almost everything in Catholicism is not biblical. Theres a huge reason so many people have had problems with the Catholic church throughout history. Jesus specifically says to have no middle man between your relationship with God, which Catholicism outright disrespects. Catholicism is a lie. It is not about serving God. Dont fall for it.
Wholesome info from a wholesome source. 12/10. The concept of having an angel by your side is so comforting. Also the concept that one's purpose is not within this life, but the next, is also comforting. The world can feel so lonely and isolating. I was once told to meditate on a question and listen for the answer. I did so, asking what my purpose is, and heard something that confused me- "sing of love." Hearing @Wendigoon say the words "heavenly choir" immediately took on a personal meaning, especially as a person struggling to find purpose in this world. 'My purpose is not in this life, but the next.' Maybe earth is where we learn to sing.

Im a Christian and this happened only recently in last couple years. I’m so glad I’ve found your content because you are a Christian that is not afraid of talking about these things in the Bible as well as some of the dark things as well. It’s a refreshing take and I love how I found a like minded person. Though I love my church and my fellow brothers and sisters they do not talk about these things and certainly never anything about demons. Evil is real and I feel like more Christians need to come face to face with that reality.
Its good to have someone who can talk about this stuff in a non-polarizing way. No fedora tipping or Bible thumping. Just telling us what someone would call "the lore"
You know when he first mentioned he was Christian and would approach this subject with reverence my gut reaction was negative and that's just horrible of me. This guy has shown no negative traits and I assosiated belief with something negative for some reason. Anyways yeah totally agree

I'm not religious but this explanation makes the Bible so interesting that I kind of want to learn more about it. Even if I don't end up converting or anything I just think it's a really cool work of literature and one of the greatest stories ever written
As someone who is no longer Christian(Catholic) I always recommend for people to actually read the Bible its a very interesting work, I always find the coolest part is how it completely makes or breaks your faith in Christianity as a whole. For many it strengthens it greatly for others like me it made me realize I hate many of the core tenants of Christianity and could never worship a god so violent and unforgivably brutal to individuals. A long with the massive efforts to create fear in people with "YOUR GOING TO HELL IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE!!!" shit, but yea that's at least how I felt, for others they feel great comfort in knowing that there is some being beyond their imaginations who is watching and hoping for them to be a good person and that when they die they will experience perfection.
I just love the "Be not afraid" line. That's quite a way to make an entrance. Specially when you are a set of rings with wings and eyes all over
Is it ever I always wondered why would (I) be afraid of a glowing angel like all the figurines I’ve seen. Well now I know. Ok now I know and yea I would have been afraid and God and the angels would have probably been mad @ me cuz I would had still be sacred.

*This* is what I was called for?"
its the g-man!
One of my favorite stories in the Bible is Jacob wrestling with an Angel for his blessing. Such an insane thing to imagine, and the audacity to even square up with one. Wild.
@Jesus Pinillo It wasn't Jesus

You’re the first person I’ve watched who included how angels were sanitized during the renaissance for their painting commissions. I took an art history course when learning how to illustrate and learned that the Renaissance is HUGELY IMPORTANT in how we perceive heavenly beings and satanic beings today. I saw an orphanim in a dream once
It was a wonderful experience.
He asked me "can I pray for you."
I said yes.
I may have missed some parts of the story, but that’s the gist of it.
If they were in Wyoming, those were just the locals. We acclimate to the winter quickly and are prone to wearing "inappropriate" clothing for the weather
Ya right that’s for my he show highway to heaven
my dad and uncle had the same thing! They rolled their car in a very remote area somehow. they were fine and so was the car, but they could't get it flipped upright. Out of nowhere these two guys in a Citi Golf show up, flip the car, and disappeared before my dad could thank them.
Love the videos! If it’s possible, a “Timeline of Christianity” video or something would be fascinating for someone who didn’t pay enough attention in CCE as a kid, and a Demonology video would be really interesting for spooky season. Thanks for the great content!

@@DevanAshborneI'm not the person you asked, but I'll answer anyway lol.

Thanks again Wendigoon :)
agreed, religions aren’t inherently bad but how religion is used.
@@meelodramatic2214 it’s the human ego that always makes good shi turn into something evil. Like a theocratic Buddhist or Christian government would be cool. Sadly the ego and greed of man destroys the beauty in everything. Like the popes (I do not like the popes at all) claiming to be the pipeline to god or whatever.
Yeah once you start digging into more specifically Catholic theology, you’ll find that Catholicism really gives, the fullest picture of what Christianity is all about, and more importantly WHY. Like I had so many questions and it lead to me the Catholic Church, quite the plot twist for me personally
@@ameliaweresmintgreen yess this
@@ameliaweresmintgreen No, Catholicism is not what Christianity is all about.
I did so, asking what my purpose is, and heard something that confused me- "sing of love."
Hearing @Wendigoon say the words "heavenly choir" immediately took on a personal meaning, especially as a person struggling to find purpose in this world. 'My purpose is not in this life, but the next.' Maybe earth is where we learn to sing.

The angels are like God’s holy and benevolent monsters. The cherubim are even meant to look like terrifying hybrid animals. It’s very allegorically poetic and beautiful.
I find it funny since its so metal. Its like how angels would be in DOOM. Wonder if Demons look similarly metal as the ones in DOOM as well.
@@arieson7715 The demon asmodeus is described as looking almost exactly like a cherubim, with the same faces and wings. And also claims to Solomon that his father is an angel. So, the answer to your question is probably lol.
Beautiful isn't the word I'd use. More like demonic
I agree with you Yubi! The Lord’s designs are not for us to understand. Seeing his creations is why I fear Him and not that little ol satan 😂
When im not watching this channel I’m watching Seven Hunnid on UA-cam
The way I interpret Metatron’s eye and mouth thing is that the eyes = him being to see through that persons eyes and see the world they would have, and the mouths means he can speak in the voice of everyone who ever lived.
God the idea of something speaking with every voice that has ever existed simultaneously is horrifying

@saber 1616 God has like 7 different names
12:54 A cool note: the cherubim on the Arc of the Covenant depicted here, a commentary states, are said to rotate and face each other when G-d was pleased with the actions of the Israelites. Similarly, when G-d wasn't pleased with their actions, the statues would turn away from eachother.

That's sad to see, the thing is that talking about the unseen is seen as crazy talk, like outright pagan and demonic in today's churches
Its sad that grown people believe that this stuff is true. Might as well be afraid to talk about Voldemort.

Little sad there's no bible thumping, but he isn't exactly having an argument, so it is fine.

The angel: “Be not afraid.”
I'm not religious but this explanation makes the Bible so interesting that I kind of want to learn more about it. Even if I don't end up converting or anything I just think it's a really cool work of literature and one of the greatest stories ever written
Please do! You will not regret it (:
Update?
I agree. I hated church cause it was so boring to me.
The Bible isn't a singular piece of "literature," it's a compilation of books, letters, psalms. It's also not a story, it's the word of God.
My guardian angel ensures I know when Wendigoon uploads, which is very chill of him/her.
