Sheriffs are a failed idea and we need a better oversight system for cops than just choosing which one to promote. This has been your political thought of the day.
The dead bodies obviously committed suicide by dragging their corpses onto the train tracks. Case closed boys. That's why I have been detective of the year 15 years running and we haven't had a single murder since I began the job. We do have the highest rates of suicide in the nation, but that's not a "me" problem. Reminds me of those suicides last year where the guys shot themselves in the head 3 times each. That's not murder, that's dedication.
I'd imagine the Clintons gave you a position in the Whitehouse like they did for Fami Malik then? Or did they just allow you to keep your life for now?

Its a shame Wendigoon smoked 20 blunts, stabbed himself in the chest 113 times, ran into an uncoming train on a motorcycle, and his own dog ate the entire corpse leaving no evidence. He was truly a troubled man.
"The additional papers, written by Sgt. Keenan Carter, also detail the lengths Middleton, 59, went to to ensure his suicide attempt was successful by standing on a bench and tying an electrical cord around his neck before finally shooting himself in the chest." Sounds like it's from a comedy sketch.
And they're all 3 months apart, as if that's the rule of separation from the news cycle before it's safe to off them without too much connection in the msn... definitely sounds like a CIA standard or something
The whole "dog ate the head" debacle is even wilder to me because most animals will leave the head alone because there's not much meat on a skull, human or animal.

Happened to me too! After the last time, i changed my dogs food to Purina Dog Chow with human head bits and it hasn't happened since. 10/10 you should give it a try.
As dark as this subject matter was, the bit where the medical examiner claimed that the dog ate the guy’s head and then somehow hacked it up whole had me WHEEZING
"Whats this now". "Limbless body?" "Shot in the chest 2 times. Stabbed in the stomach 20 times?" "Alright so called magic ball. What do you have for me. A toothache!?" "Sounds reasonable."
It's heartbreaking to know that Wendigoon dismembered himself and scattered his limbs in the Appalachian Mountains with every piece buried at random coordinates. Saddening to know what depression can do to someone..
This happened in Arkansas in the late 70s and early 80s more than you’d care to know. The difference in this case was Linda Ivey’s unwillingness to let it go. Her absolute dedication to see justice for her son made the difference.
I'm from that area. Mena and Jacksonville. In Mena, there were at least 10 kids that got offed. In Jacksonville, we had our own Wayne Williams. 8 dead black boys, SA was obvious. They know who did it, but he wasn't prosecuted. He was shunned, but not arrested. Took his own life. Arkansas has a dark history of not investigating serial cases.
@@thequixoticangler3364As a Menanite, can confirm. We still have people going missing from time to time. Hell, last year they found a body in a freezer. Things haven't changed. A kid I grew up with died in Saline County about 7 years ago under "circustances related to drugs". Law enforcement was no help. His own mother asked enough questions during her own quest to find answerd, that she was able to discover his body buried in the woods herself. His name was Timothy Poss.
There’s also the case in Hot Springs where a kid named Amir was kidnapped a year ago. It was a witnessed kidnapping and the police did nothing. He was found only because of the dedication and determination of his mother but his murder will never be solved because the police are still doing nothing.
Just read about him. Saw he had a “momma’s boy” tattoo, and you say it’s his mom that found him. And now I’m crying. I hope he’s at peace and he and his mom are reunited someday. Rest easy Timothy❤️

There's such a profound sadness surrounding this case, they were just kids, doing stupid kid stuff and they were [ALLEGEDLY] murdered for being in the wrong place at the wrong time
Especially because those kids didn't know what was going on or have any interest in it -- all the adults would've had to have said was, "It's dangerous to be around train tracks after dark. I worked for a bodyguard/security company in Arkansas in the mid 90s. Dan Harmon was a nightmare to deal with and was a self-destructive drug user, using his office to obstruct all drug cases. He shaved his head bald when he learned that they wanted follicle samples to test for drug use, another time this DISTRICT ATTORNEY, ran from police and jumped into a pond, thinking the drugs he had on him and the water mix would dissolve the evidence
That’s so crazy. I could only imagine half the nightmare he is from this statement and could never imagine myself seeing it. Dude you have to tell someone, a journalist or the UA-cam channel who analysed the case in full to give them more evidence and sources to get off of. This has to be shared

All whist his hands were zip tied behind his back. It’s absolutely incredible what 67 Crack pipes can do to you in one sitting. RIP.
I was also horrified by the detail of him not even paying for his own plane ticket. I know he is gone, but it was weird to have *CENSORED* pay for the ticket, really fucked me up
I have a friend from highschool who's band mate was murdered in a similar way. His case was ruled a suicide even though there was boot marks on his body. It's so upsetting when the police don't care to actually look at the evidence.
Police can be notoriously lazy, they like open and shut cases. Usually you have to get the one guy who actually cares who will go to hell and back to solve a case. Or even a special unit or the states version for the FBI, then you’ll get results.
Its not always that they don't care. Even when police care they only solve 20% of murders.and people get murdered everyday. They would rather spend time solving cases that have a better chance of actually being solved so atleast some murders get solved. If a murder isn't solved in 48 hours there's almost 0 chance it will be solved. You can't just ignore other murders to solve one. Say there is 3 murders in 3 days. One is extremely bizarre and 2 seem pretty straightforward well they will make sure they solve the 2 easy murders and forget the bizarre one. Otherwise they may not solve any of them if they focus on the hard case.
it is really heartbreaking to see all of these murders to cover up one case. This is especially shocking because it is rare to have this many witnesses, even though the boys escaped back into town for a short while. It immediately makes you wonder how many people may have stumbled upon something they shouldn't have and have been missing ever since with zero witnesses or leads.

i believe the doctor, its not the first time he's diagnosed fatal tripping disease. last time the guy had cinderblocks tied to his feet and tripped so far he fell into the river on the opposite side of town.
The fact that I've been called crazy and a conspiracy theorist for not trusting the government, CIA, FBI, ect when stuff like THIS exists will always annoy me.
The trick is, you've got to see evidence, and not think that every person would do this. You've got to keep your feet on the ground, on the foundation of logic, science, and reason. Nobody can accuse you of being 'crazy' if you've got real evidence.
Theres definitely coverups by all nations and politicans involved in crime and murders for their own benefits. Governments are basically a legalised mob.
You should do a deep dive on that guy in California who uncovered the cops doing a license plate scanning scam and then predicted his own death. They said it was suicide but his security footage was messed with and he was stabbed repeatedly. He had security footage of the cops and other people harassing him at his house too.
Ahh yes John Lang. The first police officer on scene said he was stabbed in the back, but then the story changed and said he committed suicide by stabbing himself in the chest.
The fact that the government and police believed the parents were dumb enough not to look into this further is hilarious. Their kids were murdered they aint gonna stop til they find someone
The federal government didn’t government didn’t cover it up because they work for the people and (mainly) the Democratic Party care about the interests of the people
The CIA was involved in cocaine smuggling and distribution during this time period to fund their own operations. That is factually known. They were using a lot of airdrops in wooded areas. The local or even state law enforcement refusing to touch this can only explain so much. However, if the CIA was cutting local officials in to secure, distribute, and keep the situation under wraps, suddenly it makes a lot more sense why nobody would look into this despite the ridiculous amount of very obviously bad things going on. You can't just out the black budget revenue machine. Additionally, I don't believe this was a case of 2 groups bumping into each other. The boys must have seen the drop or a stash location. The early confession by an addict in prison is conveniently not credible to make the actual situation not credible, and a few layers of local fall guys and witnesses were burned in the process of keeping the CIA's name off people's lips. Mrs. Ives really did something amazing getting this as much exposure as it did, and it may have directly led to the decline in drug trafficking as a way to fund government.

I just did some research. Dan Harmon went to prison but got out after about 9 years and worked as a clerk for the county. Recently died in hospice. My uncle is a retired engineer for CSX located out of Woodbine Ky. Years ago he used to tell us the story about the day of the year that he refused to work because of a tragic accident, as every year after he took this day off. He says there were two sets of tracks and the boys were originally walking down the empty line with their backs to the train. The whistle sounded and without even looking back both boys switched tracks, if they would have stayed on the track that they were on they would have been fine. He laid on the whistle, hard. Neither boy turned around until the last instant, the one boy then realized their mistake and grabbed his friend by the arm to jerk them both out of the way but it was too late, his friend was pulled under the train and his grip was so strong he unfortunately got pulled along with him, both were killed instantly. My uncle was very traumatized by this tragic accident, says he still has nightmares, even after forty years. He always told the story the exact same and would not mention it in light conversation, you could tell it was hard for him to talk about. Another story he used to tell was about a puppy some idiot tied to the tracks, he said the puppy hunkered down and let the train pass right above it shaking in fear, they stopped the train and the caboose radioed up to tell him the puppy was just fine, luckily he was so small the train went right over him. He brought the dog home, named him Lucky. He also brought an owl home one time with a damaged wing, found in one of the empty boxcars, he put it in a big cage to heal and then one day let it go.
He sounds like a character. With a job like that your bound to see a lot. Sounds like he did his best to make some good out of bad wherever he could. Glad he was willing to talk and you were willing to listen. Happy New Year.

I've never had the guts to look into our somewhat local case like this, the Jennings 8. I hate the feeling of powerlessness that arises in me through it.
As a kid my parents drilled into us to never talk to police unless you have to. Like when I was being chased by a large van when I was like 8 in a very populated town screaming for help and no one did anything until I ran to a police cruiser. They watched the van run away and didn't even move. Then made me walk back to my school alone. Edit: this town has its own police force (6 or 7 local people) and also uses the local sheriff's department, since they won't leave city limits even if it's in their jurisdiction UNLESS it's for traffic stops. My state has a huge "not our problem" problem when you call for non medical emergency. Last year I called to report a dangerous shoot out out here in farm land and I got yelled at by the police and sheriff for reporting it, even though neighbors were grabbing kids and fleaing the danger. It was gruesome yet something I had to keep replaying in my head to figure out how the hell that happened the way it did.
There are so many small towns in the south that have a suspicious amount of clear murders that are ruled as suicides and the cases are subsequently never spoken of again. If I had a nickel for every suspicious death that took place in my hometown... I would have far too many nickels (at least 50 that I can count/can think of right now)

All I can say is: Welcome to Arkansas! Seriously, I worked as a reporter who covered small town governments and they're so corrupt. Like I was in one city council meeting were the mayor and his "yes men" openly talked about illegally passing ordinances without presenting the details infront of the town sheriff, city attorney and reporters. Then when reporters started taking notes the sheriff was the one telling the council to move to a closed meeting.
@@kittyythecat The reason is there isn't really a higher power keeping them in check. Think about it, if you're in a small town of 15-30 thousand and you're looking to get away with something shady, you really only need a handful of people to look the other way to make it happen. And when you realize many elected officials in small town government either own or have substantial investments in several businesses, it creates a breeding ground for corruption and "back-door-deals". And having the right connections also helps.
As someone who spent the bulk of their teen years in AR, I promise that it is downright common for teens to be out in the woods at 2, 3, and/or 4 am. I mean, there's literally nothing else to do except cause trouble and freak yourself out hearing crazy crap in the woods.

Linda Ives was such a badass. It's heartbreaking that she's gone. However, she knew damn well what happened, who did it, and why well before she died. The tragedy (besides this happening to begin with) is that Linda didn't get to see the case re-opened and some form of justice served before she passed away, at the very least getting all the unredacted documents released to the public. But yeah I can't even imagine how hard it must have been for her to keep fighting no matter what.

There are so many small towns in the south that have a suspicious amount of clear murders that are ruled as suicides and the cases are subsequently never spoken of again. If I had a nickel for every suspicious death that took place in my hometown... I would have far too many nickels (at least 50 that I can count/can think of right now)
😳 bruh 50? Don't tell me too much tho lmao
Oh lmao 50¢ my brain translates that as 50 nickels. Still tho, Jesus christ
@@gilly_axolotl the way he wrote it says 50 nickles not cents. Either way its alot
Yeah cause larger towns and cities are honest and hardly any crime at all
@@Matt-uh3fu he never said that
This sound like some kind plot of a thriller, the sheer level of this case and how deep it goes from a simple freak accident that may of been foul play, soon lead into a rabbit hole of dead witnesses and corrupt officials. Is honesty kinds wild.
Edit; ok i found out there a serias called true detective, (the first series) that follow this kinda format... so yeah the boys on the tracks could actully fit in true detective
Thank you for covering this. Don Henry was my grandmas cousin. All of the private investigation was led by Kevin Ives family because my side was too poor to afford to fight it. My grandma insists to this day that something happened out there and she’s not sure what. She believes that it was possibly tied to all of the drug and weapons smuggling going on in the state at the time that the local and federal government was allowing. (Iran/Contra)
I'm curious what you think of the post-humous revelation that Linda Ives believed that Don's Sister was at least present and their father worked to impede private investigations?

This kind of stuff genuinely pisses me off. Two boys were murdered in cold blood for no good reason and their families were left without answers for decades all because one asshole panicked. It's so frustrating that things get swept under the rug. I really hope every person involved feels nothing but constant anxiety, never knowing if they'll ever be caught. Absolutely disgusting.

@@Gnomesmakemesmile pretty sure this was all police and such?
All I can say is: Welcome to Arkansas! Seriously, I worked as a reporter who covered small town governments and they're so corrupt. Like I was in one city council meeting were the mayor and his "yes men" openly talked about illegally passing ordinances without presenting the details infront of the town sheriff, city attorney and reporters. Then when reporters started taking notes the sheriff was the one telling the council to move to a closed meeting.
This state had a lot of corruption going on in its small towns. A lot of those towns you would pass on high ways are filled with secrets
yep. the police are currently covering up the details of the murder of someone i went to high school with
@@jordashi Yeah, I know how the mayor basically owned over half the town in Harrison.
I'm going to sound stupid. I'm sorry. But I want to know why so much corruption happen in these small towns?
@@kittyythecat The reason is there isn't really a higher power keeping them in check. Think about it, if you're in a small town of 15-30 thousand and you're looking to get away with something shady, you really only need a handful of people to look the other way to make it happen. And when you realize many elected officials in small town government either own or have substantial investments in several businesses, it creates a breeding ground for corruption and "back-door-deals". And having the right connections also helps.
Malak must have gotten his medical degree from Toys R Us
As someone who spent the bulk of their teen years in AR, I promise that it is downright common for teens to be out in the woods at 2, 3, and/or 4 am. I mean, there's literally nothing else to do except cause trouble and freak yourself out hearing crazy crap in the woods.
Spotlighting: most normal Arkansas activity 💀
Arkansians teens sound like crypdts without any of the cool powers.
On a side note, Arkansas has the highest murder rate in the United States, on par with Mexico but not as bad as Honduras.
All i'm sayin is you people are up to something over there and it's not cookin grits at 3am.
Have been to Mina, AR. It's pretty boring, but pretty.
I'm in the woods at 1-3am hunting. Got a coyote last week and hope to get some hogs this week. God bless the south lol.
I personally think it's terrifying how nearly every witness seemed to have day only days or months after their confession. McCassle (I think that's how it's spelt) even instinctively felt that he would be killed soon...
That's extremely terrifying and sad.
He probably didn't know who the guy was that he reported it to, then someone afterwards was like 'You did what? You know who that guy is right?'.
@@stevem815 Or perhaps he'd noticed people following him, kinda like the TV trope of the black, unmarked vans.
That's the Clinton's. They've been doing it for decades.
She thought it was a genuine case and that true justice is around to corner and a bit later she found out Dan Harmon was in on it and the mothers' were tricked.
It wasn't instinct. She literally realized that the case was used to expose "rats."
I imagine somebody threatened them directly.
Linda’s story is incredibly tragic. Imagine fighting for a very big portion of your life to see the murders of your son brought to justice, only to be shut down again and again. And not even knowing what happened to him even when you die…
well we can have hope in the fact theyre both on the other side
Linda Ives was such a badass. It's heartbreaking that she's gone. However, she knew damn well what happened, who did it, and why well before she died. The tragedy (besides this happening to begin with) is that Linda didn't get to see the case re-opened and some form of justice served before she passed away, at the very least getting all the unredacted documents released to the public. But yeah I can't even imagine how hard it must have been for her to keep fighting no matter what.
Stories like this are the REAL reason you shouldn't do drugs, kids.
I was a kid when I saw that episode of "Unsolved Mysteries" and it stuck with me for a long time. Thank you for following up on it!
Boys on the Tracks, Waco Massacre, Ruby Ridge... It's a miracle people have any faith in law enforcement at all to be perfectly honest.
Some of those were cultists who engaged in sex with children. And starting civil war still makes you the bad guy.
it's not just that there are people that have faith in them... it's that it's not optional. even if you believe half of them are corrupt murderous scumbags, the average citizen has no control over the police.. how they're funded, what they're allowed to do, whether they're allowed to have unions that defend them, etc. our opinions of them don't matter... and they'll gladly tell you that.
Is it a miracle? Seems more like a problematic paradox
people have faith in law enforcement?
Rainbow Farm comes to mind as well
Another crazy detail I’ve heard about the case before was when Sharlene began telling her story and apparently had drugs planted on her, Dan Harmon was the prosecuting attorney and gave her like 70+ years for a single drug charge
Prosecuting do not give out sentences. Judges do that. So the judge was likely in on the cover-up too.

I feel like with these supposed cover ups, we can make light of how obvious it is that there is a conspiracy, and how poor a job the people do at covering them up, but I feel like that’s not the point. It’s part of the scare tactic. Reading about cases like these are threats to people that if you are ever a witness to something like this, don’t say a word because you’ll end up in the ground and we will get away with it. Yes. This is reading between the lines...the powers that be don't really make mistakes, if they do then they're on purpose. We only hear about what we're meant to hear.
