Fun fact: For some jobs in Bavaria, Germany such as teaching, you have to sign a form that you are NOT associated with Scientology or financially supporting them in any way.
On that note, after I saw the movie Valkyrie (the Tom Cruise Hitler assassination plot movie), I read somewhere that a lot of Germans were outraged by the movie particularly due to the fact that Cruise is a Scientologist. Interesting
@Sanctus Paulus Some people believe in a connection between the two. And Bavaria eventually banned the Illuminati, maybe it explains their adversity to semi-secret societies.
Bothers me so much that the Jonestown mass murder is called a mass suicide. Most were forced to drink that kool-aid and those who tried to run were shot.
i know it’s a big deal because beards have religious significance to the amish, but the idea of someone breaking into another person’s house then angrily shaving their beard is so funny
What makes it even better is I'm pretty sure they hitchhiked to get to a couple victims' houses. Imagine what it must have been like to be that driver.
Growing up Greek Orthodox, I always heard people describe our church as "new calendar" and I didn't understand until I was an adult that our church had split over something as petty as what day it is
This isn't at all a good explanation, and he didn't do his research. There are many different types of Orthodoxy these days. Up until around 100 years ago, there was really just the one, true faith, and those who chose not to accept it but rather do their own version. The reason "Old calendar" Greek Orthodox refer to themselves as old calender isn't exclusively because of the calender. The calendar is just the most obvious point. What "Old calenderists" stand for is a completely unadulterated version of the Christian church. There is no change to adapt to modern times, because the church is everlasting and unchanging, so why would our traditions change to suit modern tastes? With small changes opens the gateway to big changes, and you can believe that's not true over the time of your life, but it's not true for a church that has lasted 2000 years and upheld its traditions since they were conceived. Churches that adopted the new calender went away with many critical Orthodox traditions. This is a fact. They go hand in hand. Most new calenderists don't even upkeep the fast which is so critical to the faith. Like I said there are many different types of Orthodoxy these days and you can find churches holding different parts of different traditions. You can even find "old calender" churches that keep the old calender but dispose of many other core Orthodox traditions (eg the Russian Orthodox church). So its not just about the calender. It's about the tradition. About upholding the one, true faith, without change. You can read much more about this online
@@mr.bitsbyte4664Quote: "So its not just about the calender. It's about the tradition...." Dude this is exactly why people mock and laugh at the pettiness of the split. But I took the time. Not to research the religion, no. But to read, to analyze, to contemplate, and to reply to this. Because... *wow.* This needs to be addressed. To begin, Wendigoon is literally able to list the books of the bible on the fly, without aid. From the Old to New Testament. He is a very religious man, dude teaches Sunday School. He did research, and he did explain it well; the religion is "Funny Christianity" and nothing more. But like the religion, you have a blatant need to stand out; be "special." Original in this context very clearly implying "best." I see the branch you describe as dangerous after reading this. I see how it can radicalize someone against their own fellow believers, see how it's radicalizing *you.* And here's where I draw the line. Quote: "There are many different types of Orthodoxy these days. Up until around 100 years ago, there was really just the one, true faith, and those who chose not to accept it but rather do their own version." You are actually claiming your branch of the largest religion in the world is the *True faith.* You require addressing now. Because your religious beliefs are on the brink of dangerous. Quote: "Most new calenderists don't even upkeep the fast which is so critical to the faith." I'm sorry? "New Calenderists?" I don't like the implications that come with that phrasing. *I really don't.* This isn't even coming from a Christian, I'm an atheist. Quote: "Churches that adopted the new calander went away with many critical Orthodox traditions. This is a fact. They go hand in hand." This is not a fact; that is a claim. The word "Many" wipes away the word "fact" by... common sense. Not even sure what word is appropriate for that, I'm analyzing rhetoric not your grammar (which is why I'm only correcting my own spell errors.) And to just add more; we have August. That month is *for* Augustus Caesar. Who was a(n adoptive) family member of a man *who claimed to be a son of Mars.* I.E. the Roman *God of War.* We have a whole month for him. And finally, *and most importantly for a person's health,* fasting is NOT critical to faith. Fasting is dangerous because religion makes people do insane things like *unintentionally starve,* or how you know... *We are biological creatures who need to eat. To list *fasting* in such a way, and so dismissively, is just absurd. Absurd is all I can describe that as. The statement "Don't even upkeep the fast which is so critical to the faith." Is why I have no remorse in these words: This is more than a petty separation; it's a radical fermenting vat. If you claim to be the "true faith," in regard to others who believe in that same god as you; your belief system is dangerous by default. It's a good thing there aren't that many who know or care in such detail, because you speak like a radical. To claim a "true faith" is an admission of radicalized belief. You know what *is* critical to faith? *Faith.* Isn't that all that matters? No, not to you. Which is why I can extrapolate from your statements that you are most likely antisemetic; Judaism does not believe Jesus was the messiah and thus does not follow your "true faith." And after realizing you used a blanket term such as "Calenderist" I am confident in my assumption that you are a devout believer (in your supremacy.) Which is why I no longer find the pettiness very funny. I spent a lot of time reading your sermon, writing this reply, *revising the reply*, and editing/formatting it. I'm trying not to be offensive to those of other orthodoxy, but that's quite difficult because *you make all of Christianity look bad to me, what you might as well call an atheist. Or a heretic, I like Warhammer 40K anyways. You make Christianity as a whole look bad, you make your God look bad, you make *calendars* look bad. It was never about a calender, it was about believing themselves better, and that indoctrinated, dogmatic bigotry is still palpable through you. It's funny, Jesus was killed over a love of power. This branch of Christianity was clearly formed centering around a love of power.
@@mr.bitsbyte4664 Its very disturbing that you see 'traditional' as 'objectively good'. Now, im not saying its all bad, im a pretty traditional guy. But a lot of it was BS that rightfully altered. If it was up to tradition, your wife would literally be your property, and anyone not white or Christian would be persecuted. Is all that worth it just to eventually die and find out all that happens is you cease to exist, no different then before you were born. And youve condemned anyone different just because you had the wild idea that after death youd actually get to have a good time in paradise forever..
@@XXMatt0040XX My guy, I am new calendarist, but I would really appreciate if you do a bit more research before attacking orthodoxy. The most glaring thing is your criticism of fasting. Fasting within orthodoxy is done for about half the year but in normal times, only on Wednesday and Friday. We eat on fasting days, but we abstain in general from animal products. We do not starve ourselves. Second, please don't be so vitriolic and assume so much about someone without having ever met them. That only leads to a lot of anger and sin. Ill be praying for you.
@@karenamyx2205 Please don't assume such awful things about orthodoxy. For one, there are a multitude of black saints, and even a native Alaskan saint who got canonized just this week. Second, orthodoxy did not arise in the west and 'tradition' in orthodoxy is very different from tradition in the west. Also, one very common expression within orthodoxy is that "We know where the church is, not where it isn't" as in, we know orthodoxy is the true church, however we hope but we don't know that for example protestants or Catholics will be saved. We pray for the souls of all people, we do not condemn anyone different. I'll be praying for you.
Scientology is waaaaay worse than he made it sound. There’s so many stories of people who left the church you can find online of them being trapped and unable to leave, being stalked/bugged, being abused, etc
Fun fact: they have a prison camp where people who tried to escape the religion have to sleep under desks and are forced to return and in the night an unlucky prisoner will be dragged to the near by lake in where the water is freezing cold where they are forced to stay there for hours. escapees even say the building had maggots and ants, look it up
Frustrating thing about Jim Jones is that he actually didn't drink the "kool-aid" himself. He died from a gunshot wound to the head when just about everyone else at Jones town died a slow agonizing death.
It’s theorized one of the last women to die had shot him as at least one survivor had said they’d waited hours after everything had gone quiet with two gunshots being heard (hours apart) Also Flavor-aid*
Tbh we should say "They ate the applesauce" rather than "They drank the koolaid" Heaven's Gates members actually all wanted to die via applesauce and barbituates (I think the last one or two may have just strangled themselves) while not all Jonestowners wanted to drink the koolaid.
There's a amazing movie that Eli Roth did with that as the story but modernized. It's called "The Sacrament" definitely check it out if ur into the whole Jim Jones stuff
I've actually talked to the surviving heavens gate members, they helped me with my religion project on them lmao they still believe in Heaven's gate, it's super evident from what they say in their emails. it got actually creepy when they told me that they believe it was an honor to stay behind and help their fellow members off themselves and didn't feel any remorse, and told me that I would likely die in a "recycling of the earth", I almost stopped communication after that. Got an A+ on the project though!
They also told me that they realized after the "ascension" there was no spacecraft behind the meteor, but somehow the members still got on the spacecraft? I really don't know how that works, but pop off I guess...
They probably still "believe" because they just don't want to swallow their pride and admit they goofed up. The more time and energy you sink into something, the more inclined you are to stick with that thing, even when it becomes a sunk cost.
imo Scientology could have its own iceberg. Xenu and thetans (the stuff discussed in South Park) is literally just the tip of it, things like "Fair Game", the Hole, their shadow organizations like Narcanon, whatever happened to Shelly Miscavige, child labor, the million year contracts with the Sea Org...

The weird thing is that if Jim Jones had had died suddenly in the 60s when his church was still in Indianapolis, he'd likely be remembered relatively fondly as a figure of the civil rights movement; then he moved the church to San Francisco where his church had a truly astounding amount of political sway in the city during the 70s. And then the whole situation in Guyana, where his behavior was very similar to that of a family annihilator write large. Truly terrifying to imagine the people who experienced the full trajectory of the church.
Very true. I often wonder how much drug abuse played a role in Jim Jones going down a much darker path. He was always a narcissist but he might not have been so malignant without all the drugs.
I find it interesting that Jim Jones has the same last name as Jeff Jones, who was the original lead singer-bassist of Rush, and who stepped out of the band to form Ocean, which was, guess what, a gospel rock band. Yes, Jones is a pretty common last name, but if I had a dime every time an evil cult leader shared their last name with a gospel rock musician, I'd have at least one dime.
I wish you added that very interesting fact that the Heavens Gate cult is still ongoing, and their website is up and running by two members who wanted to stay behind and spread the word.
Ti and Do are still kickin it. I actually emailed them a little over a year ago for a project, and they sent me links to all these videos explaining their beliefs. Probably some brainwashing material in there.
Yeah I've heard about that, that one of the members didn't die, either didn't want to or somehow lived, and he said that he thinks it was God's decision to not take him away to spread their beliefs
I don't know if this is weird to say, but I just love how this guy talks. He is concise, calm and speaks with clarity. I have ADHD so i find it hard to pay attention to videos that have little visuals, not to mention a 1 hour long one. He would be a great teacher, very easy to follow the topic even if I'm not familiar with the content.
I see a lot of people making comments about inaccuracies here and there but tbh I'd rather have a chill guy who's wrong from time to time than someone boring me to tears
So, what I'm taking from this video is that there are three basic kinds of fringe religions: -My race is better than your race -It's this one well-known religion, but ✨better✨ -Give me twelve hundred dollars or you won't go to heaven
My Dad did an audit for scientology in the 80s. It really freaked him out, so he never went back. They called him and when he said he wasn't interested, the person on the phone started asking who he was talking to and was essentially demanding him to give a reason as to why he wasn't coming back. In roughly 2015~, they called him at his work and invited him to a barbecue in another state. Keep in mind, hes hard to find. He's changed his last name, has drifted around a lot, doesn't have a social media presence, and has had a ton of other jobs. They called him again sometime later, too. Weird organization.
Apparently somebody else with my name signed up for a scientology program in a town I used to live in. I have been sent so much propaganda and recruitment shit from them including phone calls(no idea how they got my number) I always tell them to fuck off you have the wrong person! I was like damn did I sign up for scientology in some fever dream state or something lol they were persistent for years that I indeed did but I've never been associated with anything scientology related so it was very bizarre.
If they found your dad after all of these that means they have to use their connections in NSA or other government organizations. I don't see another way for them to find your dad. This is terrifying, that is why you never even TRY to enter a cult, just turn away and run that is much safer for you.
Yeah stay the fuck away from Scientologists. They are actively malicious and will do *anything* to get their hooks in you. Don't talk to them, but if you do don't give them your name.

Everytime he mentions China, he always uses the opportunity to talk negatively and spread lies about about China and Chinese people. His Falun Gong entry was completely biased for example. He never talked to a single Chinese person or went to China and only gobbles up propaganda from the the New York Post and the like and feeds it to everyone who watches. I like his videos but it is clear he is spreading lies about it, intentionally or not.
i have a friend whos parents were into the whole appalachian snake handling thing and he was telling me about how as a child in church they would literally force children(including him) to play with snakes such as pit vipers and rattlesnakes and told them that if they get bit it was gods will, he ended up in the foster system by like age 9 because his parents were batshit crazy so yeah
There was a church up the road from my house a few years ago and a man died from a rattlesnake bite because they prayed the venom out for him. Yeah. The church closed after that. They only had a handful of members (like 20 tops) but yeah.
Yeah WV is the only State that allows snake handlers. I asked them before why would a foreign Jewish war god save you from a snake? Odin tells me to have enough damn sense not to play with a snake and I won't get bitten.

i actually dont mind satanists, cause they're just spicy athiests. they don't believe in any theology, they just focus on selfcare and treating yourself as a god. not literally, but just loving yourself.
Then there's Theistic Satanism, like the O9A, Universal Order, JoS, PCFJ, MLO, and more. Most of these groups are ultra racist and kill people, but they don't call in "sacrificing" people, they call it "culling". But the O9A also has a really complicated boardgame they play, called the "star game", and they're really into the idea of conquering the earth first, and then the galaxy. They're really into getting ready for space travel. O9A members also try to join the police and military, so they can cull people without getting in trouble for it. A bunch also went to the middle east and joined groups like ISIS. They're secretive, and don't tell people they're into all that weird stuff. They try to fit in on a surface level. The whole atheistic satanism is basically the CoS, the Satanic Temple, who are relatively new and the most media friendly, and maybe the ToS, although you could maybe call them Theistic Satanists. Then there's the Typhonia OTO, which is basically the edgy version of Thelema.
Why not just be a self-centric atheist if you don't believe in anything spiritual, just that everything you do should be for your own benefit and pleasure?
For the record, for many years in scientology the alien beliefs were a secret that you could only learn if you assended to the highest spiritual levels (aka paying about $10,000), alot of it was about past lives and souls and finding out about past lives and souls through their special form of therapy

Bruh they just kept the calendar because they didn't want to have the same calendar with the catholics because they thought it was heresy.... They also call themselves the pure orthodox's i think because of that Major bruh moment Also quick edit: orthodox literally means true or right fate... Orthodox comes from the ancient greek ορθός(orthos) which means standing or up but can be used also metaphorically as right and the word δόξα(doxa) which comes from the ancient greek word δοκώ(doko) which means receive, but δόξα can mean to honour someone or believe or to have faith in someone like a diety or something . Like my own experience as a kid wasn't child abuse so much as being inundated with lit that was very blatantly damage control propaganda which I shit you not, attempted to write off getting caught for child abuse within recent memory as a literal conspiracy by the Antichrist. So yeah, I have no patience for the elders romanticising that period of time just because they personally happened to be in a home that wasn't run by complete psychos.
Marcus Wesson lived just a couple blocks from my house when I was still in elementary school. Hearing about what he did when I grew up was a huge shock to me because my parents refused to tell me what was going on.
Cant help but feel like he misinterpreted the Branch Davidians bit, the ATF didn't start the fire that killed the people, the davidians did. Also, they were nowhere near peaceful people.
One of my best friends grew up in the moonies. It's a VERY toxic cult, especially since the iron rod bit has been added. She had 3 siblings, all but one (I believe) has left the cult... all have trauma from it. One of my friends sisters has been writing papers on the moonies and how it was like growing up in a cult and why it it was so damaging. My friend was so close to getting an arranged marriage, even though she never truly believe in it... she just felt so pressured to. She was underage when she was trying to make this choice and would have been paired up with someone she may have not even known... A lot of times they are overlooked because nothing SUPER crazy has happened with them, but there is a ton of abuse and awful beliefs, and it is still a dangerous cult. I still live near her parents (my friend now lives across the country and is very happy, we keep in touch.) A Christmas or two ago, her mom gave us books on the "church" as a gift.... YIKES.
For those who don't know: The iron rod bit refers to AR-15s. They believe that Jesus had an AR-15. Yes they worship Guns. They are also known for seperating children from their parents. Also, one of their Core-believes is "World unification". This might be one of the reasons they give alot of money to polititians and try to keep close conections to them. In recent Years they got closer to MAGA and Donald Trump.
People seem to have a really low bar for what is damaging and what is dangerous. If it's negatively affecting your mental/physical/emotional health or doing so to others, regardless of the intensity of it, that's damage. You can be extremely abused and never have a finger laid on you, been well fed, been by all typical standards, looked after and cared for. Doesn't mean abuse isn't happening or isn't extraordinarily harmful. I'm so glad most of them got out and that your friend is much happier and you guys keep in touch! It's not easy to get out of an abusive relationship, let alone one that is organized, legally sanctioned and enforced by much more than just a few close family members.
Cults are so fascinating. Learning about how one or two people can charm the masses and how they manipulate the weakness of people and taking them to such an extent like mass suicide, murder, etc.
well doesnt that make sense that they see what they want to see? everyone can name at least two things they deeply want but can't seem to attain. Therefore everyone is constantly looking to fill voids in their lifes. When youre actively looking for a red car, you'll see one sooner or later. And it makes it all the more easier to see it when a charismatic person convinces you to put on rose colored glasses so all cars are red. Esspecially if youre desperate, broken, grieving, desiring a feeling of belonging, and such as, which are applicable labels for most people, I think.
I love that you covered LaVeyan Satanism! A long time ago I considered myself a LaVeyan Satanist, and I often explained to people that it wasn't Satanism in the sense that they think, there are no Gods, and its more of a philosophy than a Religion. One of the things I found most interesting about it was the reverence of "Pure Souls" I.E. anything that didn't have self awareness. Animals, and even babies/toddlers were considered pure and not to be harmed. Once a being became self aware, it was capable of being corrupted by sin and could no longer be considered "pure".
in 5th grade my friends and i as a joke created a soup cult and we got a bunch of other kids involved and it went on for a while our rituals where we put this one kid (my friend Darin who was the smallest) on one of the benches and we would stand or rest on our knees and chant the names of soup brands and soup types while he danced around vigorously and get louder and louder till we all started repeatedly screaming soup till Darin was tired of dancing and sometimes id stand on the bench (cuz i was the nut case who founded it) and would read off the "soup bible" which where just pieces of paper that i printed the history of soup onto and whenever they served grilled cheese for lunch with tomato soup we'd all sit together at a table and give Darin the warm tomato liquid and bow our heads as he wolfed all of it down (it was like 9 bowls including his) the teachers didn't care as long as we weren't trying to sacrifice Darin and disturbing the other classes going on or if people where testing nearby. it was a yard about the size of half a football field in length with like 4 trees and a playground with some swings.
It's important to note that the foundation of Aum Shinrikyo absolutely *was* responsible for the bad things that happened, the founder himself was the mastermind behind all the kidnappings and killings and he wanted to start World War 3, which the Tokyo subway gas attacks were meant to be a step towards. Asahara was executed for it. The connections they had with world governments were *frightening*. They should probably be on the bottom level of the iceberg tbh.
I have to agree with you and disagree with The Wendy Goon. I saw a mini documentary on YT on it, the founder was absolutely a terrorist, and Japan disagrees with executions. That's how severely they needed to punish the man and his org. The org is still around today, and they say they're not assoc. with the founder or his beliefs. That stance is absolute bullshit, they're underground terrorists, and I hope they're governmentally watched for the rest of their lives. Also, the founders' daughters went on to write books in his mistreatment of them.
@@halotrixzdj Yeah, japan practically only has a death sentence still in the books so it can be rolled out for extreme cases like Shoko Asahara and similar massively dangerous individuals.

You really think forcing Hillbilly Joe to give his tax money for reparations is going to make him like black people more? You really think denying some rich trust fund kid a college admission because he wasn’t black enough is really gonna make him not resent black people? Beliefs like these are nothing but selfishness and pure greed. People who think black people are justified for wanting to hurt white people are undermining any progress we have made in race relations in the past, and are the biggest hypocrites I’ve ever seen. “We’re oppressed, that’s why white people should let us rule over them for a while!” Whatever happened to MLKs dream? Two of my uncles died in Jonestown. My grandparents knew that Jim Jones was bad news since they went to one of his sermons in San Francisco. They knew their sons were too far gone when they left for South Africa and never heard back. My mom told me something about it that I'll probably never forget. "Your grandpa never cried. He didn't even cry when the ashes of his two sons were in the closet."
I dunno guys, I think the Ashtar Command has some good ideas. Namely the space elves. Also I'm pretty sure you can say sex without getting demonetized.
My grandma was the head of the records department for Fresno PD at the time of the Wesson murders and she would always tell me stories about how that was by far the most disturbing thing her and other officers of the Fresno PD had to deal with at the time. She happened to see Wesson when he was detained and she said his eyes were one of the most intense and frightening things she’s seen. She mentioned how a lot of the officers were left scarred from that incident. The fact that Marcus Wesson isn’t dead yet is beyond me.
I was so upset when I heard he was on death row, when I heard he had shot everyone else in the house i figured he would at least have the decency to do the same to himself.
Not everyone in People’s Temple willingly drank the kool-aid. Some members were forced, some were shot, and some were injected with poison. Also, the last few living members set up the bodies to look as though they died hugging/ holding each other.
Ever listen to the poisoning tapes? The worst bits are right before a cut, because it was getting really bad and Jim stopped the tape for a time. It gets quieter and quieter, which is to say, the screams are fewer until there's only music and ambient noises.
The fact that the last members Who survived positioned the bodies like that goes to show that they know their whole Belief system was bullshit. They wanted the world to think that they died happily, willingly and towards a noble goal. But they knew it was the total opposite. Scum of the earth that cult leader was.
When I was a kid, a Moonie came up to my mom and I while we were in a parking lot of a restaurant. He was odd and he wouldn't let us pass but was overly polite (asking if we heard of his religion.) When we finally got past him and got into the restaurant I asked my mom who he was and she explained about cults to me. I've been fascinated by them ever since. This was an interesting video.
@lemonyz420 I believe his followers thought he could talk to God and Jesus, which is why they followed him. He was sent down to earth to save humanity, so they thought.
Not just people, but specifically the children. Almost all of the deaths audible on the tape are from the children because Jones knew starting with the kids would force the parents to kill their children and it would make it easier to die themselves. So they children were given the poison first, either by having it squired into their mouths from syringes or the older kids were told (or forced) to drink from the cups.
I love how despite all the disturbing/heavy stuff he talks about, Wendigoon always reminds us that the world has lots of positive things about it and can be a very cool place, it's things like that that I remember and help get me through daily life, people underestimate how important it is to hear just general positivity and Wendigoon does that in spades.

As a Christian, it’s crazy to me that people can claim they are “doing Gods work” and also doing blatantly evil things. KKK is my favorite example, as they are racist and anti Semitic whilst also worshiping Jesus Christ. So strange..
With all due respect Aum Shinrikyo is much worse than that. They often killed members that attempted to leave or just speak out against the cult as well at kill or attempt to kill those that would act against the group. For example there was an anti cult lawyer that was building a case against the cult who disappeared only for cult records to state that him and his entire family were murdered in secret. The new version if the cult sounds more like what you described but Aum Shinrikyo was responsible for a lot more deaths than just those of their sarin attacks.

I love it when religious people (or atheists for that matter) just repsect other peoples beliefs, without feeling the need to force theirs onto others. Respect, you've earned yourself a sub
It's insanely rare, because most belief systems are by nature going to proselytize. They need to be spread, to grow, to "preach the good word." If a religion is truly benign, I can live and let live. But but overtime I've come to think that I don't think belief is capable of being personal, simply because if someone believes, they function on that faith as if it's a fact. People who believe in anything from Jesus to Allah to Ra to Odin function and orient their lives based on that. I don't think there are truly benign religions. If you think and conduct yourself on something as cold hard fact with no room for new information that might completely change what you know, because it's about faith, which means, regardless of any challenges or evidence to the contrary, you will still believe, which is the point of faith, then it's no personal anymore. It's not just a hope that something might be real, it IS real to you. Atheism, as in the co-opted pseudo version in which it is a belief that there is no god is just the same side of the coin. Belief overall is a dangerous thing, because there is no empirical proof and the nature of belief leads to refuting, ignoring or dismissing anything that might have proof. Atheism is meant to be a-theist, meaning lack of theology. Or non-theistic. Not belief in absence. I have no issue with hoping for something. People need hope. I hope for an afterlife. I'm terrified of death, but I don't think it's likely. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't believe either way. I don't base my life on possible unknowns, I just conduct myself as much as I can to what is most likely based on what I do know.
I am Athiest/Agnostic, not by choice, but by reason. (Athiest vs the Currently Identified Religions, Agnostic.. because that is logical. Athiesm is also correct (See: Burden of Proof) ) Science/Math/Logic/Reason is mutually exclusive with the existing Religions on Earth. (See: Scientific method, Scientific review, Peer review, Reproducible experiment, Discrete Mathematics, Logical Fallacy) If they were compatible, then we would have proven 1 religion to be definitively true, or at the very least, not have mountains of evidence AGAINST all of the religions. Its not a matter of respect, its a matter of being reasonable. People all have differing levels of intelligence, I understand and respect that, that does not shield you from being logically wrong when there is a mountain of evidence. At some point you are disrespecting reality by maintaining religious views. At some point you are disrespecting reality by not trying to understand someone magnitudes more intelligent and knowledgeable than you. We live in a society where peoples vote/opinion mostly counts as equal. However that is just the social construct, the value of the average human's opinions is very nearly 0 compared to well executed science/math/reason. I would say the only thing that is not directly resolvable is when it has social/objective predicates, but for predicates such as "is the bible non-fiction/verifiable" the answer has repeatedly been, very obviously no. And the validity of the bible is not only not provable, but DISPROVABLE. (See: Proofs/Discrete Mathematics) As another comment on "respect", religion typically encourages and teaches the bypass of such logic (aforementioned sci/math/logic stuff). So you are actively making people LESS intelligent by teaching objectively wrong and irrational logic/reasoning skills. This is disrespectful to intelligence.. in general, disrespectful to the person being manipulated, disrespectful to society as a detriment. If you truly and fully understand Science/Discrete Math/Logical Fallacy, and are able to apply it universally to all topics, then its very obvious the dangers of "respecting religion"

Fun fact: I went on a missions trip to one of these Polygimous Mormon towns (Colorado City, on the border of Utah and Arizona). It was increadbly errie as the streets were pretty much empty all day and one of my friends got a silent death threat from one of the locals. But we did have a short conversation with a younger woman (maybe in her 20’s at the time) who was really nice and talked a little bit of what has gone on in the town and her life there. Apperently the prophet (no relation to the actual LDS prophet because, yaknow, excommunication) of this particular group was in prison at the time for reasons you could probably surmise.
Omg I saw a documentary on that town. This woman was trying to escape from there and when ppl came to rescue her several townsmen just was terrorizing the rescuers. Apparently the town had cameras EVERYWHERE.
What kind of mission trip did u go on?? I would think that a town populated with cultists would not be very accepting to newcomers preaching other religions
I know Jon Krakauer wrote an entire book about Fundamentalist LDS and half the book is dedicated to looking at the modern sects which are all over Canada, the US and Mexico. Basically the prophet in question (Warren Jeff) was arrested for untold counts of taking advantage of and marrying underage girls, as well as sexually assaulting underage boys during his time as the teacher/principal of the Colorado City school. He was so extreme in his acts and the beliefs he preached that even the other Fundamentalist Mormons would go so far as to hate him. And plenty of critics or people trying to escape the cult who have gone missing as well.
I’m a Mormon bro, and can I just say thanks for not saying that people in a community like that represent all Mormons. It’s real refreshing, especially when kids ask you dumb crap like “how many moms do you have?”

From a former LeVayen Satanist, I'd actually like to point out that it's not so much a worship in humanity, but a worship of one's self, since you only have one life, you should enjoy it to the fullest (without harming anyone without consent). It actually has some pretty nice and agreeable rules to it. There's a belief in magic, but not a reliance on it. It's also very much against abuse of all forms.

i think the whole "unknown bunkers" thing can very easily be chalked up to relics of the cold war era. people were constantly being stressed the necessity of nuclear war preparedness, and it wasn't uncommon for there to be bunkers around for people to go to in case of a nuclear attack.
It must be exactly that. I'm from Albania, which is one of the countries with the most bunkers in the world (almost 6 bunkers/ square km). They were created in case of a nuclear attack or war in general, during communism
In the UK, there were tonnes of bunkers built to run the government out of in case of a nuclear war and most of them have now fallen into disrepair. Recently they uncovered a massive cannabis farm in one of the Cold War nuclear bunkers in the English countryside lmao
Yeah, exactly, MMMMH why would there be abandoned nuclear bunkers from an era where the fear of thermonuclear armageddon was very real, it must be the Illuminati of course
The fact that Santa Muerte is as deep as tier 5 makes me wonder how non-secretive and really just socially-accepted some of these cults/religions must be.
It use to be very secretive in the 1990’s during the drug war in Mexico as the kingpins need her as their Narco saint to help them to be untouchable or transport their illegal products or wanted more power. But years go by to the early 2000’s to now many raza who worship her had now use for religion and have their life different as they thank her for helping them after praying for her

But like the religion, you have a blatant need to stand out; be "special." Original in this context very clearly implying "best."
I see the branch you describe as dangerous after reading this. I see how it can radicalize someone against their own fellow believers, see how it's radicalizing *you.* And here's where I draw the line.
Quote: "There are many different types of Orthodoxy these days. Up until around 100 years ago, there was really just the one, true faith, and those who chose not to accept it but rather do their own version."
You are actually claiming your branch of the largest religion in the world is the *True faith.* You require addressing now. Because your religious beliefs are on the brink of dangerous.
Quote: "Most new calenderists don't even upkeep the fast which is so critical to the faith."
I'm sorry? "New Calenderists?" I don't like the implications that come with that phrasing. *I really don't.* This isn't even coming from a Christian, I'm an atheist.
Quote: "Churches that adopted the new calander went away with many critical Orthodox traditions. This is a fact. They go hand in hand."
This is not a fact; that is a claim. The word "Many" wipes away the word "fact" by... common sense. Not even sure what word is appropriate for that, I'm analyzing rhetoric not your grammar (which is why I'm only correcting my own spell errors.)
And to just add more; we have August.
The statement "Don't even upkeep the fast which is so critical to the faith." Is why I have no remorse in these words:
This is more than a petty separation; it's a radical fermenting vat.
Which is why I can extrapolate from your statements that you are most likely antisemetic; Judaism does not believe Jesus was the messiah and thus does not follow your "true faith."
And after realizing you used a blanket term such as "Calenderist" I am confident in my assumption that you are a devout believer (in your supremacy.)
Which is why I no longer find the pettiness very funny.

Its very disturbing that you see 'traditional' as 'objectively good'.

Fun fact: they have a prison camp where people who tried to escape the religion have to sleep under desks and are forced to return and in the night an unlucky prisoner will be dragged to the near by lake in where the water is freezing cold where they are forced to stay there for hours. escapees even say the building had maggots and ants, look it up
Frosty the Snowman is the Blood God Baphomet...
Isn't there also the theory that the founder killed his wife and his members are covering it up?
Frustrating thing about Jim Jones is that he actually didn't drink the "kool-aid" himself. He died from a gunshot wound to the head when just about everyone else at Jones town died a slow agonizing death.
It’s theorized one of the last women to die had shot him as at least one survivor had said they’d waited hours after everything had gone quiet with two gunshots being heard (hours apart)
Also Flavor-aid*
Tbh we should say "They ate the applesauce" rather than "They drank the koolaid" Heaven's Gates members actually all wanted to die via applesauce and barbituates (I think the last one or two may have just strangled themselves) while not all Jonestowners wanted to drink the koolaid.
@@lukegarner6948 They drank Flavor-Aid at Jonestown, actually.

How.... interesting 🤔
They probably still "believe" because they just don't want to swallow their pride and admit they goofed up. The more time and energy you sink into something, the more inclined you are to stick with that thing, even when it becomes a sunk cost.

I have been sent so much propaganda and recruitment shit from them including phone calls(no idea how they got my number) I always tell them to fuck off you have the wrong person! i actually dont mind satanists, cause they're just spicy athiests.
they don't believe in any theology, they just focus on selfcare and treating yourself as a god. not literally, but just loving yourself.
Yesssss fr fr

Also quick edit: orthodox literally means true or right fate...

For the Jonestown massacre: There's a tape of some of the last hours where he's preaching to the members about killing themselves while many of the children are heard crying because they don't want to die or whatever they were told by their parents is gonna happen to them, it's harrowing. Also, there's a very cool band called Brian Jonestown Massacre.
I was watching an interview with a couple that hid, had to watch all their friends die from hiding. They said he had guys with rifles around the corrugation ready to kill anyone who refused to drink the cool-aid. So it was either poison yourself, or be shot to death.
Its really sad how many people were out right murdered in the massacre but common knowledge says they mostly committed suicide.
@@TheWhiteGoblin I think I would labelled it as "murder-suicide". Some mothers there actually accepted their fate, when the children drank the cyanide-laced flavored drink, and they died from it. But yeah, this seems that they lure themselves into suicide from murderous actions.
I actually listen to the whole like 30+ minutes of the tape until the end. It was actually chilling but in a terrifying way, that the members maybe allegedly forced to praise Jim Jones in "leading them into good life" because he was known infamously of brainwashing tactics around the cult. And especially the mothers screaming that their child is dying from drinking the "poison drink", and Jones had the balls to say "Mother please. Calm down. Wait for your turn" or something like that. And that final moments, when everything went silent and no screams were heard, was by far, the most terrifying part imo, gives me chills around my spine.

As a Catholic, thank you for your description of sedevacantism (seh-day-vay-cant-ism)! The name comes from a Latin term meaning “the vacant seat”, essentially summarizing their belief that the seat of the Pope has been vacant since before the Second Vatican Council. It’s a really wide range of beliefs from mildly-conservative-Catholicism to actually wild beliefs and rejections, but your description was really respectful and pretty accurate so thank you!
“Mildly-conservative” I believe to be a bit of an understatement.
We don’t have to hash it out, but just for passersby that might come across this and get an impression: this is more contentious than the original post made it seem.
Sedevacantism is grossly heretical, as you are in essence rejecting the successor of Peter, as instituted by Christ. So yeah it's a BIG deal

YIKES.
You can honestly say that all religions are cults, they deserve to get sledgehammered with the full force of law enforcement.
I'm sorry you had to go through that.
@@z3br490 Yeah that seems right up MAGA's alley
I also like how they use other people's wants in order to lure them in. People see what they want to see.
And education is the best armor. Don't forget, you are not immune to cults. Stay alert.
🤓🤓
well doesnt that make sense that they see what they want to see? everyone can name at least two things they deeply want but can't seem to attain.

Not just people, but specifically the children. I love it when religious people (or atheists for that matter) just repsect other peoples beliefs, without feeling the need to force theirs onto others. Respect, you've earned yourself a sub
It's insanely rare, because most belief systems are by nature going to proselytize. They need to be spread, to grow, to "preach the good word."
If a religion is truly benign, I can live and let live.
Athiesm is also correct (See: Burden of Proof) )
Science/Math/Logic/Reason is mutually exclusive with the existing Religions on Earth. (See: Scientific method, Scientific review, Peer review, Reproducible experiment, Discrete Mathematics, Logical Fallacy)
If they were compatible, then we would have proven 1 religion to be definitively true, or at the very least, not have mountains of evidence AGAINST all of the religions.
(See: Proofs/Discrete Mathematics)
As another comment on "respect", religion typically encourages and teaches the bypass of such logic (aforementioned sci/math/logic stuff).

It's also alleged that Wesson not only murdered everyone in the house, but killed each one of them with a gunshot to the eye. He shot them in the EYE to kill them. There is nothing about this man that isn't the most depraved thing I've ever heard.
What happened to them was completely horrific, but a part of me is relieved to know that they at least aren't suffering his abuse anymore.
Was their prophet Warren Jeffs by any chance? The story you told sounds very similar to one I heard from one of his wives who eventually escaped the compound and now runs a safe house for members leaving the cult.
The bit about the Illuminati, “watching a shark fin dive under the water” is such a masterful metaphor, anxiety and paranoia inducing, but masterful
1:01:19 fun fact, my mom was selected for jury duty for his trial, and she only avoided having to sit through the trail because she was nine months pregnant with me
i love how at the end of all the really awful things he talks about, he reassures viewers that the bad stuff don’t make up all the good things on earth. it makes me feel better :)
If you know 5% of the bad things nothing else is good
@@THETRUTHISHERE2030 bullshit. You don’t laugh? Have a good workout? Meet a new friend? Pet a dog? Look at the sky? Hear kids playing? To claim nothing is good is pure horse shit.
@@WillWinterz he was comparing 5% of the bad on earth n humanity to all the good, he’s very true
One thing that's funny about Heaven's Gate: It still has active members from the core group. That were designated to stay behind while the others, um, "departed" so that they who remained could perform a crucial task: Maintaining the website for Heaven's Gate.
I wouldn't say that's funny more so sad and fucked up
It makes sense, because most HG members earned money doing website design. It was important to them.
id like your definition of "funny."
fun fact about Santa Muerte, in Mexico there exists a tradition, if you are religious and believe it, that whenever you see somebody with a tattoo of her you pay them because it is seen as a sign of luck and it is a way to thank her and give her your respects
brb getting that tat for some cash
@@laurenbader1566 you do that and you might end up broke baby
@NocturnalRuine same but tbh Santa Muerte isnt like prayed by most of the country, it exists on its own bubble that I don't even bother to touch so it might as well be lol
question: if you get multiple tattoos of Santa Muerte, will you get more cash?
asking for friend
There’s a Santa Muerte church a few miles away from my house will I get good luck if I give it money?
From a former LeVayen Satanist, I'd actually like to point out that it's not so much a worship in humanity, but a worship of one's self, since you only have one life, you should enjoy it to the fullest (without harming anyone without consent). It actually has some pretty nice and agreeable rules to it. There's a belief in magic, but not a reliance on it. It's also very much against abuse of all forms.
45:18 couple polite corrections Mr. Goon:
1: They didn't drink Kool-aid. They drank a similar drink called Flavoraid.
2: Jones didn't drink it. He shot himself.
Isn’t there some evidence that flavoraid may have pushed the Kool-Aid terminology intentionally to avoid association?
@@riverfoster7404 It was probably a generic trademark at that point, like how Frisbee refers to all flying discs and not just the wham-o-brand ones.
I thought he drank the koolaid and kept saying “mother,” as he died.
@@xobrynn90 or like how every cotton swab is typically referred to as a Q-Tip, despite Q-Tip being a specific brand of cotton swabs
i think the whole "unknown bunkers" thing can very easily be chalked up to relics of the cold war era. people were constantly being stressed the necessity of nuclear war preparedness, and it wasn't uncommon for there to be bunkers around for people to go to in case of a nuclear attack.
Plenty of them date to ww2.
But years go by to the early 2000’s to now many raza who worship her had now use for religion and have their life different as they thank her for helping them after praying for her
I grew up knowing that Santa Muerte isn’t bad or good. It’s how the person chooses to use her for. Either way if you fuck her over, karma is a bitch.
Insane interpretation of Falun Gong lmao I really hope he's looked more into it since then.
