- In this "How to/Tutorial" I am going to teach you guys how to tweak you fsx and fsx steam edition for best graphics and more fps! This gave me a fps boost of 5-10 fps and it gave me soo much better performance in FSX Steam Edition!

This by far the best FSX tweek i seen and done so far ,without taking away from from the PC in general .and im pushing my FPS up to 70 and 80 now.
how can you improve fps can you please tell me. My sim looks really good with this tweak but I want to push fps abit more. I have i7 6700k at 4.5 overclock and gtx 1060 superclocked. Thanks
It all comes down to what system you have, so I would recomend you to try and remove some tweaks, and maybe even add some tweaks, until you are happy! :-) Thanks for watching!

Hi! Do you have a tweak for ground textures loading slowly without having to lower settings? I believe it's my processor and harddisk that are the problem... but just wanted to ask :)
How do I change the config do I just copy the text in the other text or

Does tweaking the regular fsx.cfg file work on the steam edition because I think my comp has both files and it seemed to change the SE edition even though I only did it to the regular cfg
Just a quick regarding the AffinityMask, I run an i5 6500 having quad core but no hyperthreading, should it be still 14 as there is no hyperthreading?

Hi.. the first item on my fsx.cfg file is [sound}.. my notepad shows none of the settings you use.. I'm looking in the wrong place? (I have Windows 10, though am running fsx in compatability mode so Vista is used as the programme crashes in Windows 10)
Thanks for sharing! So the filtering/ anti-aliasing is now controlled by nvidia inspector and I don't have to set it in the FSX?

i did everything in this video and double checked the spellings and whatnot but nothing changed, hideinfotext is still showing and, worst of all, the frame rate is still cruddy. am i missing anything? should i check more things?

Have you since done a similar video for FSX Steam Edition? I was stopped dead in my tracks because the FSX Steam Edition config file appears to have some different entries and nearly all the mod entries you show but the LOD_Radius, don't appear to be there?

I have a question. FlyTampa Hong Kong is what im trying to run smoothly. I have a dog s**t processor (AMD Athlon II X4 640). Will these settings make the payware run smoothly or do I need a better processor?

Quad core is Affinitymask 14 or 84?
The problem I have is that FSX rewrites the FSX.cfg file everytime I shut down FSX (not when launching it). I have to go back each time and check all these settings before launching it. Most every time FSX will change the "TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=" back to 1024. This is very aggrevating.

You must be god dude aha. before doing this i had like 10-15 fps at KLAX now im on 20-30!!! using the same settings as before! SPECS: I7-6700k OC to 4.5 GTX 970 4gb 8GB RAM. THX!!!

what I have a worse computer than yours and I get around 60 to 120 fps

Look up the dx 10 fixer, this shifts more load to the gpu
I have changed a little bit in my CFG now because of OOM... But it is just some small tweaks

yo. first of all, no one here is active anymore probably. But, I will still ask. I installed flytampa dubaii lately for fsx, the addon is fine, I can see all the buildings but when I take off, the ground texture of the game just becomes so blurry in the distance. this just makes the game look so awful man... I followed all of the steps but it still appears to not work

I have a dual core i5 Intel 300hd, with certain settings I can get anywhere from 30-70 depending on the terrain. tried your config and lost Fps haha. any tips for a 2.7ish ghz laptop with 4 gb ram

It will be hard to get a lot of fps with your system, but If you already get 30+ fps I think it's best to leave is as it is haha. Do you run any addons or default fsx?

Hey! I would like to ask you a question. My PC is always running between 20 a 40 FPS and I fly the Airbus 320 Aerosoft Xtended. Everything was going so nice but since 3 days ago, its been a mess because Every minute the FPS go down to 1 FPS and it fucks up everything during almost 10 seconds. Any solution???? . I have a i7 QuadCore 4 gb RAM 1TB Disk.

+George Koulakian I don't really know a lot about AMD, but I think it is something that is called RadeonPro
I have AMD an older 7850, but everything i found is to leave the AMD settings alone is probably the best thing. Every specific AMD adjustment i have tried either didn't work, or made things worse. Try the new amd 16.9.1 driver i'm running it now and FSX runs pretty good here.

I went into fsx.cfg and turned "HIGHMEMFIX=" off by putting the forward slashes in (//) to turn that off. I also did the same for "AffinityMask=". I turned those switches off, turned off those commands, and my graphics are SOooooo much better!
I am running a new computer with crazy abilities (Powerspec B745), and it was slow to load my Megascenaryearth satellite imagery. I was quite pissed! WTF, over? I turned off the aforementioned "switches" in fsx.cfg, and it is running as smooth and flawlessly as I had dreamed it might.
Thank you, HK, for the advice and a direction to take... Every system is different. We all have to do things particular to our own computers. I like to use the double forward slash (//) to turn particular codes off in a cfg file. That makes it easy to turn them ON or OFF, without deleting that line of code.
I will try it as well. I have some graphic issues...

You have to add it using notepad. Back up your fsx.cfg file first and call it fsxorginal.cfg.

I have an eight + four core intel 12th gen CPU, what number should I enter in the Affinitymask?
4 cores = 14
8 cores = 254
@@virtualaviation8399 That cpu has 8 full (ht) and four efficiency cores with only one thread. Those E-Cores also clock much lower only reaching about 60% of the performance my performance cores are capable of. Should I just leave them out?

Flight sims are actually not really suppose to even reach 60 fps. They are smooth enough at 30 fps. I play sometimes thinking its 30 fps and its actually 15. Yes 15 fps. If it was a shooter, I would be going crazy.

I havent noticed too much of an improvement... i use mostly the PMDG 737 NGX which i only get about 20fps on as appose to my usuall 60fps

The Steam edition does not need these fsx.cfg manual tweaks. There have been improvements in the core software taking our more modern machines into account. On the same computer, FSX Steam runs considerably faster out of the box than my FSX boxed edition ever did, no matter how I tweaked the boxed edition.

Yes it's true that steam edition runs better on newer computers. I have found some tweaks actually making fsx se run a bit better on my system than it it did out of the box though.

Hey this really works!!! before i could get out of the selection of planes i could see a huge difference in the sharpness and colors of the planes .I bumped my FPS up to 60 works fine. I like blowing stuff up on FSX. I believe and can go higher with the FPS.

How did you bump your fps to 60? I have an i7 6700k at 4.5 overclock with gtx 1060 superclocked. What setting did you tweak for more fps?
the gixxerman Im gonna put a FPS testers on it while playing and post the specs .But i set my GUP to 60 and at one point 80 FPS and it played fine. Every computer is different especially custom builds. MY specs are i5 3570k 16gb memery, Asus P8 Z68 MB, 1000 watt Corsair PSU, Asus GTX 760 GPU. I did increase the voltage on the CPU through the Motherboard Asus work suite. as well as the DIGI VRM frequency increased.

the gixxerman Not really mostly the same as in the video. with the exception of tweeking the FPS and Prerendered Frames. not by a great margin but small ones .

Changing Nvidia frame limiter to 30fps and fsx frame limiter to Unlimited made the biggest difference for me. Gained 4 fps!
