    Biggest goddamn nightmare to take this thing apart. Barely any videos out there show the power supply being opened and cleaned, and even fewer show how to pry open this stupid thing. Thank you for showing the disassembly. Two thumbs up.

    I think we have all been bitten by the aliexpress special parts. Makes repair much more difficult when you can't even trust the replacement parts you put in. Good job on the repair, and thanks for the upload!

    I've seen that manufacturer's logo abbreviated as LT before the part number before, if I remember correctly, on several AT-type SMPS for desktop computers. I was surprised not to find it listed in -mouser, digikey, newark-... now I can figure out why. Excellent work on failure analysis and mainly your "intuition" with that component (years of experience count a lot). A sincere congratulations. Thank you very much for sharing. All the best.
    PS: I remember a technical high school instructor who made us look up the logos in some thick three-volume books called IC Master before using an IC... I thank him so much! The unforgettable old days

    Great video, you can check the ic for internal short, to see if they are all shorted or some fake parts...

      If I get some good parts in, I might do some diode mode comparisons between them. Thank You!

    Again, great job. What is that vibrating tool you use to clean crap off the PCBs? Is that an engraving tool? Seen under the microscope it must be a very thin bit. I'm not sure engraving tools come with a bit that thin, so, that's why I am asking.

    • @ToltecMerc

      It is a grinding pen. I got it from NorthridgeFix. They are also available on AliExpress. They come with several different bits. Handy for removing solder mask.

    Hi there friend! Where are you getting these consoles? are they repairs for folks or are they bought by yourself and then resold as repaired/refurbished? just curious! Do you work on iPhone?

    I just replaced the power supply in my PS4 Pro. I examined the bad supply closely, but could see no visible damage. It is definitely the problem since the replacement supply brought my PS4 back to life. I am wondering if you would be interested in having the bad supply. I would happily send it to you if you want it and are willing to pay for shipping.

    • @ToltecMerc

      That component is the SYSCON or System Controller and it is married to other ICs on the mainboard. Unfortunately, it cannot be replaced.

    17:50 - I need explanation, why its better to remove this red glue (and scrape some green mask and leave open traces) instead just bending the legs of component more to solder them? Im really not picky, but now a single drop of water there can kill it and also bring AC line to that tracks underneath component.

    • @ToltecMerc
      @ToltecMerc  Рік тому +3

      I needed the chip to lay flat. The glue left behind from the manufacturing process was in the way. I may have nicked the solder mask, but if water enters the supply, that bare spot is the least of your worries.

    • @ToltecMerc
      @ToltecMerc  Рік тому +1

      You need and N-channel MOSFET rated for 650V and 16.1A maximum drain current. TO-252 case. Appoximately 0.25ohm on resistance. Search for those parameters or better.

      você pode comprar qualquer IC ou componente no site. É um pouco complicado de navegar, mas você deve conseguir encontrá-lo lá. Você sempre pode tentar o aliexpress, mas sempre há um pequeno risco ao lidar com os chineses. Mas a Digikey desnuda componentes de qualidade. Boa sorte!
