36:34 - If its known working good component, I would now take it out, put red probe on gnd pin, in diode mode, I would read value of each pin. Make a chart in excel. Then later for next new "good" component, first is to check with multimeter according to that chart, then to solder it. Then excel database starts growing into serious database of components and good results. So you no longer need another board. I also make a photo of pcb board, then in paint write values on photo.

you got a new sub mann... you dont know how thankful i am seeing this i got like 10pcs psus like these.... cant seem to find whats happening to them but thank you i will attempt to repair them again...
Great video, your skills and explanation helps me to learn how to. Electronics and to learn how stuff works, thanks to you I already repaired four ps and allot of ps4. Thanks
Hi, thanks so much for the video. I bought a faulty no power ps4 1002A. The PSU clicked on power button press, I verified the unit boots by making a temp 4 pin to 5 pin 5v cable and a working PSU from a 1102A. The faulty ADP-240AR looks quite a bit different but following your steps it seems everything checks out except the DDA001AG IC. It appears that pin 9 is shorted to ground, looking at the schematic it should only be pin 10 to ground and I can’t see any bridges. I’m waiting on the new IC to arrive from China. Will update if I’m successful as this is my first PSU repair, Im a novice at soldering and only have basic cheap tools but have been successful in on my first ps4 power button and HDMI port repair. 🙏🏻
Had similar experience repairing PS4 pro PSU. Replaced bad DNP012A with DNP012AH and it would not start every time. So obviously those suffix letters matter ;)
It's fantastic and iwould really say thanks for such amazing effort and the genuine way of dealing with problems to fix in details like we are with you . If i were there, iwould join you to learm and follow your instructions, electronics are Passion Thanks again from Egypt 🎉
@@nikeshgupta8362 I would check to see if it is going to 395V but shutting down very quickly. One of the protection circuits may think there is a problem.
Another amazing video. I always look forward to your videos. I've learned so much. I wanted to ask you what kind of hook leads are on your Probe Masters? Also, what does the power factor correction IC do?
The hooks are from Probe Master as well. The PFC is supposed to change the way the supply draws current from the AC input in order to produce less harmonic content on the AC input from the power company. Basically, it improves overall efficiency.
Excuse me but, you say you swapped the BG for the AG but what's seen is you swapped a dda001AG for another 001AG. In which part of the video did you install a DDA001BG?
If your line voltage is 240VAC where you live, it sounds like the power factor correction is not running at all. If your line voltage is 120VAC, it's not running correctly. It should boost to 395VDC on those large filter caps.
I really like your work. I have a switch that I tried swapping the SD card reader for but the connector on the motherboard is missing a pin and needs replacement. Would you be open to repairing it for a price? Or do you have an email that I can contact you at? Thanks
Thanks a lot for this video. Very informative and learnt some new things from this video. And also all the others.. I have 1 question tho. I have exact same PSU and exact same problem. Is it possible I can use my bench Power Supply and provide the 12 volts the Ps4 board needs to turn on? I just wanted to do that just to see if the PS4 boards turns on normally and no other existing problems. I am about to order the IC from aliexpress. Mine is a DAP049B tho.
@@ToltecMerc Wanted to ask you also is it the ACDC_STBY and the 5VSB are the 2 pins that am supposed to touch together to turn on the 12v on the power supply ?
Good day! I just recently found your channel and its been so entertaining to see a lot of videos! Keep up the good content! I also wanted to ask if its not a problem of course if you could guess on whats been happening to a ps4 slim i have. Modelo 2015b that powers on for 2-3 secs, fans spins then shuts off (i swapped the psu for a new one but the problem persists) thanks! And sorry if is an inconvenience
Yes. Damaged DDA001AG. I initially replaced with DDA001BG which it seems is not correct part. Replaced with identical DDA001AG and it worked just fine.
hello thank you for your videos which helped me a lot, I have an adp-160-cr power supply which works but each time I have to replace the Dapo41(6) ic, it works for about 10 min, after it is cut , if I replace the dapo41, it works, thanks in advance
Your multimeters are very impressive 😮 I wish, I could have one like this... these multimeters ain't available in my country (India) it is available from out sources but cost is too high 😢 I can not afford. If you have any spare one please donate me sir 🙏 I fall in love with your multimeter ❤ Please give me if you have any spare one. Thank you 🙏
Very frustrating, feel the pain, nice win. enjoyed ,thanks for sharing👍. this will help other folks. and saves another power supply from trash
Thank you! I will learn from this frustration. I learn more each time. Thanks for stopping by!

Odd question, but do you know what the lowest voltage the ps4 will still work at?
I would say 100VAC.
@@ToltecMerc I mean DC voltage, direct to the board. 4.8V and 12V. But would 11V still run the playstation?
Hey Toltech I loved the way you diagnosed it. I have one in which the volts wont go up to 395v i replaced the 1612a1 but no chsnge any suggestions.

Hello, if the power cuts off after a few minutes, what could this be causing please?
Excelente vídeo, vai me ajudar muito ! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you so much!
what exactly are you shorting to get the 12v in 23:19 ?
I am connecting the 4.8V standby pin to the "enable" pin. There are 4 contacts. 4.8V, Ground, 12V enable and a "Power Good" signal.
@@ToltecMerc thanks for the reply friend
In my power supply i can measure the 5 volt, but no stby and no 12 v. Can you tell me what could be the problem?
So many things. I really can't tell you exactly where the problem is. Many, many options. Get a working supply and make comparisons.
Sir, how often does it happen that the 12v is gone but the 5volt is still there, thanks
i just tested most of my defective psu here... 12v is not consistent on psu test pin shorting.... its dropping voltage on 12v.... whats causing that?
It could be almost anything honestly. It sounds like a safety circuit has detected a problem and is shutting the 12V down.
I got one with 12volts problem, but the fan tries to start up die straight the way
Another great video thanks.

I'm only getting 314 V on those big filter caps, is that normal? Or do you know what could be causing that? Any help would be much appreciated

The PS4 draws quite a lot of current from the 12V supply. You will need a bench supply capable of at least 10A.
