I just wanna to say that my first time trying this foundation was the same as yours. However, paired with Smashbox Primeriser has a completely different application, wear, look, all of the above.

I love this foundation. You’re right it’s personal preference. It makes my skin look flawless but I have no texture and dry skin so the opposite of you. Nars says to apply very light to avoid it caking. I’ve noticed this is true. I also find the longer I wear this foundation through the day the better it looks lol I’m not sure why. The longest I’ve worn it is 8 hours but I’ve looked in the mirror and I’m shocked at how flawless I look.

I took delivery of mine today and my experience was the opposite. The colour match is perfect and covers all my pigment. I used a hydrating primer, NYC pore primer and photo finish. I then applied the foundation and sealed it with the Skindinavia setting spray. I really love it. NB all the products used I apply with all my foundations.

I thought I was the only one that didn’t like this foundation. I couldn’t figure out what all these YTers were raving about. This stuff broke me out, nothing ever breaks me out. When I returned it, the Sephora employee told me that a lot of people have been returning it.

It sucks that this foundation didn’t work for you. I bought this foundation and I love it. It covers my blemishes, even when they are bad. It doesn’t look cakey or dry, it just looks like my skin. I also have Fenty and the make up forever hd stick foundation, and I prefer the luminous to both.

I got it last Friday just because I needed a new foundation and I was curious. I use the urban decay naked skin. Just a slight layer so this Nars is something else. I’ve tried it twice so far and it’s def not my favorite. After wearing this all day today it does not look very good at all. I am going to trying to mix in a little bit of oil to see if that will work to make it a little bit less try or cakey. It gives me texture too like you said. It’s so weird because my skin is soooo good. It really has been all the 38 years I’ve been alive. I’m just going to see if I can make it work another way.... let’s keep trying!

I hated the foundation when I first used it too, for the exact same reasons as you. But I used it again and applied a LOT less (one and a half pumps) and it looked a lot better

I tried it and returned it because it was exactly the way you described it and I have dry/ combo skin. I hated it! It just sat awkwardly on my skin. I love your reviews and honesty!

I bought the foundation and I have oily skin as well but it worked for me. I do 12 hour shifts in the hospital and it held up pretty well .

I’m the same shade as you in the Nara foundation and I’m super dry and I absolutely love love love this foundation
It’s my holy grail .. it wears beautifully on my skin and last a good 8 hours
I live in Canada and it’s super cold so may be that’s why it last so long on me .. but overall I just can’t say enough good things about the foundation

I’m oily and I’ve worn this foundation about four times, each time with a different primer underneath. No matter what I do, within two hours it breaks up horribly on my chin and looks so blotchy. I’m going to give it one last try and then it’s going back.

I couldn't get over how incredible your lashes looked and how opaque the eyeliner was. I want them both lol
Aww thank you so much! 💕 And no, the mascara and eyeliner aren't new Rani Cosmetics products 😬 The mascara is L'oreal Lash Paradise and the eyeliner is the Sephora Collection Contour Eye Pencil in Surfer Babe!
This foundation definitely doesn't look good but trust I have almost 7-10 foundation but all of them literally all of them looks patchy and wears out from most of the face after 8 hrs....how do you then find a long wearing foundation I also have combination to oily skin
Make sure you're using a good primer! One of my favorite fairly long-wearing matte foundation is the Fenty Beauty one 😉
Ajita Nawathe have you tried powdering your face with a light dusting of translucent powder before putting on your foundation? There’s a lot of oily skinned gurus who’ve said that method works for them
you should give the Kevin aucoin prismagic pallet a chance, its actually beautiful on the face. just didn't lookalike it switched very good?

Thabks for the review, ive seen other reviews that say to only use one pump. I wonder if that is the difference? Ive been debating between this foundation and the new bobbi brown. Im thinking ill be picking up bobbi brown instead

Sorry this didn’t work for you but i have oily skin also but i have this foundation and i really like it. It blends so pretty on my skin using the beauty blender or brush.

A great true!!!! wear test! You hit the real reason this is getting good reviews -PR PACKAGES! I REFUSE to watch PR videos. I start thinking... no wonder that lipstick costs me $30.00!!... when they are sending 50 tubes to a SELECT group of you tubers!! I get companies have a PR budget- BUT! I appreciate your work!
How does your eyeliner not move!? Mine always settles on the side of my waterline and it comes down onto my lower lid
emiea patel Try setting your liner with a black power/eyeshadow on top. You can also spray your brush with a bit of setting spray before you dip into the powder. I used to have the same problem no matter what formula of eyeliner I used, now when I set it with black eyeshadow (or another color if it’s a colorful kind of day) I have not had it move.

I was waiting for your honest Opinion. Girl, you are so right! I was going to buy it, they did not have my shade and i asked for a sample to try. When i tried it, it made my face so oily and i can see all my fine lines. That's definitely thumbs down.👎

I wanted to love this foundation, but its actually pretty dry on the skin and I have normal skin. I do not see any radiance. I use it, but in order to get the natural finish, I have to add oil to my skincare. Will not repurchase.
Hello! Where did you find that this was paraben-free, oil-free, fragrance-free...etc? I was looking on Ulta and the Nars website and it did not say this. Not that I do not believe you! I just wear make up that is paraben-free and would LOVE it if Nars was. Thank you! :)

Same thing happened to me and I was expecting so much with all the rave reviews on UA-cam! It made my skin look so oily Cakey yet dry and broken up and cracked! Awful!!!
Hey Eshani, I also felt that it was cakey looking in certain areas and almost felt tight and mask-like. However, it looked really nice and smooth on other areas of my face. So I'm a bit unsure about it.
I know you like the Fenty foundation, I also really like the finish but I find there's flashback from it. Did you experience that as well? If you did, what did you do to prevent it?
Ps.- Nikkia Joy didn't like it as well. So there are a few that are honest!

Great review, maybe you can try Tahoe, or mix both because a lot of girls with our skin tone have to mix Syracuse and Tahoe to get a good shade

HI Ishani that Foundation looks hideous on you. That looks like a $2 Foundation. You normally put on a foundation and it looks absolutely beautiful on your skin but this was not good. Thank you for the honest review because a lot of people who got it for free definitely was not being very honest.
