You picked a great year to highlight. The rundown of concerts you saw that year alone is epic. The albums released in 1969 is pretty much unmatched. Good luck in Alex's contest.
Hi Glen!!! Well done and yes 69' seems to be a cool year for you and music too..... you had the chance to see also some killer shows. I'm an 80's music guy, so discovering music in those year was an awesome experience too.... cheers and be well
I'm too young to remember 1969, my earliest musical memories are from around 1972-73. Wish I could have experienced the years 65 to 71, what an amazing time for music, so many great albums released and the chance to see some of the greats live in concert. Nice video again Glen, thanks for sharing 👍❤️
(1968 Doors, Cream) 1969....Hendrix in April...Led Zeppelin, July....Stones, November (got within feet of Jimi, Zep, and Mick, have photos. My chest was against the stage at the Stones concert.) Had a ticket to see Blind Faith, parents grounded me... saw Jethro Tull, Mothers, Johnny Winter twice, Sly, and a bunch more at the Spectrum, Philadelphia and The Main Point, Bryn Mawr, PA. (A small coffeehouse where I saw many bands like Beefheart, Muddy Waters, David Bromberg accompanying Jerry Jeff Walker in the pre-Texas years.) Loved your nostalgia-inducing video!
Might be my favorite year also. My favorite Jefferson Airplane album is Volunteers but your favorite is a close second for sure! I'll try and do a video for Alex's contest too later this week.
My best year in music is 1967. But, 1969 may just be my second favorite year. Lots of great albums that year as well. 1965 - 1969 is my favorite music era.
So mech happened in 1969. Kind of when I had my true musical awakening. Visited Toronto from Nova Scotia, went to Sam the Record Man, and purchased my first three albums. Being in small time, small town N.S., we didn't get any big time musical acts. I'm so jealous. I figure the biggest band I saw in '69 was April Wine.
In 1969 I went to see Marjorie Fishtickler and The Laughing Fish at my local pub. They didn’t turn up but wow what a night that might have been. Incredible! I have other stories but that’s number one. Peace.
When I think of 1969 I think of Elvis Presley returning to Vegas to perform 2 concerts a day at the Las Vegas Hilton for the month of August. There was nobody better than Elvis in 1969.
Damn.. I don't know how many times i've heard the stories of these acts but every time I'm blown away. I knew you would pick 1969 but all those experiences at that age must have been wild. So many great albums too. You're in the contest, Glen. Start thinking about what your winnings will be!
In 1969 I was 9 yrs old I had very few albums probably Beatles and Monkees but not many, but I had a butt load of 45's mostly of songs that caught my ear on the radio. Concerts didn't start till the 70's, my first was Kiss at The Johnstown War Memorial ,which I faintly remember. Have a great day Glen.
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement I don't own all of them, though. Unfortunately, I have only lists for the 60s so far, I should really continue that. Was a fun little project during lock-down, google a year in music and than check out all the albums I could find online.
Free -Free Stand Up - Jethro Tull Goodbye-Cream The Soft Parade - The Doors Blue Afternoon - Tim Buckley Moby Grape ‘69 - Moby Grape Tommy -The Who As Safe As Yesterday - Humble Pie Town And Country - Humble Pie Songs For A Tailor - Jack Bruce
Edward Bear opening for Zeppelin is wild! Both great bands for very different reasons. Anyway-1969 was a helluva year. From a selfish perspective, my favourite band released two albums in 1969: “Wheatfield Soul” and the extremely underrated til this very day (imo) “Canned Wheat”. (Can you GUESS WHO I’m talking about…? 😏)
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement WOW! Do tell!! (I’m born in 1978 so I came to TGW as a young ‘90s kid…was fortunate to see their reunion tour twice in the early ‘00s, but would love to hear your experience from the late ‘60s!)
My favourite decade of music is the 60s but 1971 has my favourite year of music. Best of luck in the contest Glen!

50 !!! Would you have any years with more than that..I can’t see it myself..

1969 is a very good choice and your concert experiences are pretty unbeatable. Unreal Led Zeppelin ticket prices. Also Let It Bleed came out in 1969.

Shame Free didn’t play with Blind Faith in Canada. They opened for them at MSG.
