I know the Vanilla Fudge cover of Season of the Witch. It’s interesting. And I have a version of Sunshine Superman performed live by Episode Six with Ian Gillan on vocals. I still need to check out Kathleen Edwards. I remember you mentioning her during our last meet up with Rob.
Hi Glen!!! unfortunately sometimes listening to vinyl is like dating an "uptown girl" it's really cool but expensive too, lol..... well at least you have been listening some really nice music and yes that's one hell of a cool Stones album. cheers and be well
"Wondering Where the Lions Are" made the charts in the US, but it was a very minor hit and the only song of his that got airplay in the states. It's going to be fun to listen to the turntable after you replace the cart. They wear at such a slow gradual pace, you probably didn't notice how crappy it was sounding. Replacing it will be like the experience you had with your new CD player.
Space Wrangler is a great album. Right up there with the best of them. I'd be surprised if you're able to find much more Mark 1 CDs available, maybe Toronto? I think I saw their first live effort, Light Fuse, Get Away, available used here in Ottawa.
Just popped up and had to watch. Vinyl is cool, but I will always be a CD fan. I'm guessing you haven't driven Larry yet, looking forward to hearing your review of the Great Balancing Act, I'm sure you're going to like it. Great finds, especially the Donovan, love Sunshine Superman.
That Springsteen album is awesome, some very cool versions of various songs. After the Hammersmith Odeon album my favorite Springsteen live album. I recently used ChatGPT to recommend albums to me based on my Spotify history and it actually mentioned some nice stuff. Leftover Salmon could be something for you, kinda jammy, kinda Bluegrass. For Halloween, I listened to Widespread Panic's Jackassolantern, really fun. But that going to be a deep rabbit hole... Beggars Banquet for me. BMFS playing in the background, I get you.
Oh, you were asking about the Rory BBC recordings in your last video, I'd never buy the box, wouldn't listen to it enough. The 2 CD version is interesting, especially disk 2, has a few songs that you don't hear a lot (like Philby), however, on my list of albums that I want it's relatively low. Sound quality is awesome but there are more interesting live albums. The classic live albums aside, I think Check Shirt Wizard ('77), All Around Man ('90), San Diego ('74), Cleveland Calling ('73) and the Montreux (various years) are more interesting. I'd love to see his Rockpalast performances in Germany being a part of the official canon, they have overall a better energy (I know, you can get them but I'd love to see them being a part of his discography).
"Someone sent him a Donovan song" At last, I've been mentioned in a video from The Basement 😃 Sunshine Superman is killer. My favorite is still A Gift from a Flower to a Garden, or, better yet, the first disc when it was released separately as the Wear Your Love Like Heaven LP
If you can try replacing your stylus first if you have a cartridge with a removable stylus first. If not satisfied, they get a new stylus. Back in the prehistoric stone age, before personal computers and the internet, Amazon, and UA-cam, in the 1970s & 1980s, I had a Technics direct drive turntable with an Audio-Technica cartridge with a removable stylus. I went through 3 styli per cartridge, about 9 total. I don't know if I saved any money, but at the time, I thought it was fun. As for the Rolling Stones, get BOTH albums, but one album at a time. Thank you for this great video.
Also, you need to keep your eye out for Ry Cooder and Manuel Galbán's album 'Mambo Sinuendo', I've played it more than a few times now and I really love it. Manuel plays the bongos. It has a Hawaiian flavor. I'm sure you'll love it.
Sorry, not familiar with that Grado cartridge, but if you really want to save money on an interim cartridge while you save up for your eventual purchase the Audio Technica AT-VM95e would be one to consider at around 80 to 90 Canadian dollars. At that price there is bound to be some drop in quality but I don’t think enough to stop you enjoying the music.
I love hearing my name! I was busy all day ranking my favorite albums... 😅
😢John Mclaughlin lp Devotion on Douglas label is a heavy, powerful album. Very unique.
The new cure is spinning.
Just checked out two songs by Kathleen Edwards. I liked both of them! She’s on the hit list now!

Beggars Banquet is #1......forever!
So fun to see you so excited for Billy Strings. My buddy went to the two Baltimore shows where he had a ton of guests. Hope you find a cartridge soon!
I have found a cartridge..I need to find some money..lol
@GlenKellawayfromthebasement wash dishes for Larry
You mentioned David Bromberg. He plays on rhe first Jerry Jeff Walker, called mr. Bojangles. Check it out. You'll like it😊
I love David Bromberg. George Harrison co-wrote and plays on one song.

Exile = Swagger.
Season Of The Witch. Vanilla Fudge great version. Hi from Wales.
Oh yeah!! Forgot about that one..👍👍

Nice to hear..really loving this band

Meeting up with Larry in an hour..Cool you like Donovan❤👍
We're doing the CD exchange in a few days.

@@dr.s. Nice to know..I will definitely be getting the two disc set..more live Rory is always welcome..

Beggar's Banquet

Hey Joel..my cartridge’s stylus is not replaceable unfortunately..Exile and BB are essential albums in my opinion.

I am a big fan of that album..I have Ry Cooder’s entire discography, my favourite guitar player..
@GlenKellawayfromthebasement Cool, I should have known you would have that. It's the only one I have, but I'll be keeping my eye out for more.

Thank you for that..I will look into it..
Have listened to a band called Cammp If not give their album By and By a listen Your friend St John recommended it
I didn’t like Cammp..I know Sam is a huge fan..
I’ve had the Grado Black. It sucked. But people I respect love their other cartridges. Just avoid the black, no highs.
Have to go with Beggars. Check out Original Album Classics for McLaughlin. 5 CD's for $23 in the States.
I will check for that set..thanks
I like The Rolling Stones' 'Let It Bleed" the best, out of the "big 4" from 1968 - 1972. I think it's as good as most "Greatest Hits" comps.
Great album..would rank fourth for me..Sticky Fingers is number 3
Who the hell is Kathleen Edwards?
Are you asking because you are interested or asking because you are an a hole…?
I am thinking the latter..
Can't stand Springsteen,to damn liberal.
Yeah..I get that an intolerant racist like yourself wouldn’t like Bruce..
