This is the first time I have watched one of your videos, loved it. You kept my attention whole time. So many of these videos are kind of stuffy or hippie-ish. Very full of information and you gave me the courage to do it. Thanks for the video.
You are so positive and delightful and you got straight to the point AND made it doable. Another guy took twenty minutes and made me feel like I needed a math degree to make it. I have turkey tail growing and am really looking forward to making this.
Yes!! Thank you you just confirmed that I was learning right and I was unsure of myself and now with your video I feel confident thank you. I love the part science backing doesn’t really mean anything anymore. Love it so true.
I love you do not take hours to teach- just tell us and show us- showing its easy not complicated. People who make long videos are annoying and you are a sweetie! Why haven't you made videos in a year? I hope you are ok!
Thank you, I'm so happy you liked it! I'm not sure about p.mush (assuming psilocybe). I have never tried this and am not sure how it would work (if the psilocybe mushrooms are soluble in ethanol). Maybe someone with more knowledge on this can reply 😊
Thank you for the straight forward video. Is two drop of this an effective dose, and where does that come from? It seems like ypull have that jug then forever haha. Is this dose based on how you feel and how your body reacts? Thanks again!
I appreciate your comment my friend!! I do a few drops to start, but I find 5 drops 2x a day seems to be optimal for me. I just kept increasing drops until I felt the benefits (energy). I did make a big jug of it and send some to family. Happy brewing!!!
I have never measured it out exactly, I just fill whatever jar I'm using half way with turkey tail and fill it to the top with alcohol. I hope this help!
Thank you! 😊 I've never tried a dual with honey. If you wanted to skip the alcohol, you could try a single extraction using honey, but it does need to be heated to break down the chitin in the turkey tail. I hope this helps!
You can definitely use fresh, just make sure you use more mushrooms (the water content in the fresh ones takes up a lot of room). Happy tincture time! 😊
Hi! I dry it for alcohol tinctures, with the moisture removed, you can use more of the mushroom. For tea I use it fresh or dried. I dry mine by stringing it with a needle and thread and hanging it in a dry area. You could also put it on drying racks or on a towel (just flip them once a day). Good luck!
Why do they have to be dried?; My blended some up in the coffee grinder yesterday and made my son-in-law some tea cuz he's sick but they weren't dry. I just found them on a log in the backyard by surprise. I was so excited to find a log covered with turkey tail, especially after my daughter went to the store and bought all kinds of mushroom extracts
@jennyanimal9046 hi Jenny! They don't have to be dried, it's just when making a tincture, the moisture is removed for better alcohol extraction. I definitely use (and prefer) fresh when making tea 😊
@@hummingcatfish oh thank you, it was my very first harvest of the turkey tail and tea as well. It was really good. I feel more confident knowing, thank you so much.
I believe the minimum would be 40 proof (for dried items). Just keep checking for any spoilage. If you're using vinegar, make sure it's apple cider vinegar. I find that my vinegar tinctures aren't as shelf stable, so I refrigerate them. Hope this helps 😁😊
Okay, it's a minimum of 40% or 80 proof. I hate grammar policing but I just want you all to be able to ask for the right thing at a store. Proof is double the %. They are different values or methods of measuring alcohol.
@@hummingcatfish What should we know about using apple cider vinegar instead of alcohol? Do we refrigerate it for the entire 4-6 weeks? Also, should we still blend with water or just keep it 100% vinegar? THANKS SO MUCH for sharing your knowledge ✌
@beachnap I would refrigerate it the 4-6 weeks (and after it's finished also). You would do the water extraction the same as you would for the alcohol extraction method. It will last up to a year refrigerated, so make sure to check it around the 8-9 month mark. Let me know how it turns out and Happy extracting!!! 😊
I use it to keep the turkey tail from sticking to the lid. It may not be necessary, it's just something I was taught to do when making tinctures. Hope this helps 😊
@@hummingcatfish sweet, thank you for the quick reply! I just made started my first tincture using your methods. 8 months later how has it been/how was it?
@zintere91 I am honored!! I really like the tincture, it's easier than making the tea every day. Let me know how yours turns out! I have some ghost pipe (Monotropa uniflora) and black walnut tinctures in the works right now. 😊
Thank you for not taking 20+ minutes to describe how to make the tincture.
It's my pleasure 😊
You are straight to the point and just as cute as can be.
You just made my day!!! Thank you so much ❤️
I don't know how don't have more subscribers but keep it up, I feel you will grow rapidly when you least expect it. You're doing great!
Thank you for your encouragement, it means so much to me. You just made my day 😊💚
Sooooo awesome! I just started adding ground turkey tail into my coffee in the morning for an extra boost. I’ll have to try adding it to sin water! 😂
We are so much alike!! I love the idea of adding it to coffee, you have a lot of really good ideas! Yes, the sin water makes it fun 🤣
You're adorable. Thank you for the refresher🍄❤️🤙

Thank you for the wonderful comment! 😂 I definitely don't like complicated recipes
woe, great video. Super simple, i need to go find the turkeytails now
Thank you! Happy turkey tail hunting my friend 😊
Thanks for this! I've read that to be shelf stable, the tincture needs to be 75% alcohol and only 25% water.
Great info! Thank you!!

Hi thank you...wondering if you think there should be any specific proportion as in Turkey Tail to Vodka?
I have never measured it out exactly, I just fill whatever jar I'm using half way with turkey tail and fill it to the top with alcohol. I hope this help!
Can I add in things like lemon balm? Any idea if that would work or if would somehow take away from the Turkey tail?
I like the way you think! I've never tried that and it shouldn't take away from the turkey tail. Let me know how it turns out!
Great video thank you dear ❤ does this work with honey instead of alcohol?

Why haven't you made videos in over a year?
I got overwhelmed, not a good reason, but it's the truth. I appreciate all your kind comments 🙏 I'm going to make more once the summer work is done
Do they have to be dried? Or can I use fresh that I happen to find and verify.
You can definitely use fresh, just make sure you use more mushrooms (the water content in the fresh ones takes up a lot of room). Happy tincture time! 😊
do y have to dry the turky tail before you extract with alcohol? how do u dry yours for tea?

Helpful but just one note, I found the dried mushrooms ruined my coffee grinder.
Thanks for the heads-up, I'll keep an eye out for that!
the chopping attachment on a blender or a food processor works better.

All I can find here is 100% alcohol 50 proof, would that work? and about vinegar what do I need the vinegar to have.

so you are doing a 1 to 1 ratio ?
Yes 😊
I tried the 1 to 1 and my alcohol level was crazy high
@quinceylocklear1791 you could try less alcohol, just make sure you check it for spoilage (maybe keep refrigerated).
How much dried turkey tail do I put in a quart jar? Thank you.
@choctawcat5676 Fill the jar to about the halfway mark and you should be good to go!
