Yes, you could get the old ruins (from the area from the beginning of the game) and copy using the moving it mod. Could make a nice feature.... or an actual Castle asset :D
I was thinking, there is something that always seems to be missing in your cities. A rich residential area. And I don't mean those eco things. No, the old school old money communities. Like on the hill overlooking Poplar Square (the area with the central park that had some serious traffic issues a few episodes ago). Big houses, lots of trees and paths, and more road space than they can use in a lifetime. There might need to be some soil management to make it work, but it could end up really interesting.
This year .. I dont understand a single thing that's being taught in online class I got 70 % as my mid year result 🤦♂️ Not able to study properly. Your videos just makes me chill for a bit.
Overstudying is a thing. You have to take breaks and give your mind time to rest regularly. A good night's sleep is worth a lot more than that extra night of cramming.
70% is still amazing! With this situation I failed a lot of courses & barely got a pass (minimum pass grade is 59.5%) in many others and even that only bc of the professors' sympathy. I hate online studying, I can't soak anything in.
Hey Biffa! 27:40 Instead of water pumping stations you could use advanced water towers for your water needs, that way the river level will stay the same and you'll be able to spam out water production more easily ;) Not to mention the aesthetics, as you can hide the towers far away from the riverside
The nature reserve should extend to the coast so citizens can go fishing. That main road should be extended to the interchange. Extend that unfinished freeway to the port, I guess. You'll need a collector/express setup at the existing interchanges, though. Maybe fill those holes with a "Vateacan" district... I'm also thinking there could be a canal between the two seas.
One of my favorite ways to add industry is to zone an area for offices and then paint a district over it and mark it as the IT Cluster. It creates a lot of industry and a high demand for college/university educated citizens.
Biffa, that 4 lane road at the beginning of the episode cutting across the river is such an eyesore please please please make it go along the coast of that river its driving me nuts!🤯 Thx!
The one crossing through the area he just built? Yeah it looks out of place, he should have it cross to the other side once then follow the river there (thereby skipping the new area )and then cross back over to connect with the road it is connected to now would look better.
I got an idea You greenscreen yourself walking- then make a camera sequence of you walking through the map from one end to the other, looking around, enjoying the scenery. Hell you might even do a charity drive where you get your most devoted fans to walk in the city for donations, and you donate the proceeds to your favorite charity.
Just a reminder Biffa to make sure all your ferry stops are level with ferry and water. One of them from a previous episode was miles high. Love watching Teaport :)
I've been using 81 tiles since it's been stable, and so far I have not noticed any conflicts with any of the current big mods I'm using. Definitely worth to investigate whether it's good to go for your city.
It would make more sense to have a segment of 2x2 or 2x1 going the other way, on the roads going into suburbs. Naturally there's more traffic on the main roads than the side streets and having an extra lane for them to turn into will help keep traffic moving on the main roads.
That open triangle area by the mining part of the city, with the above ground rail way going through it, would be a nice spot to make a elaborate school zone. Lots of high density housing; then you have this large school area for elementary and high school with parking lot, park, room for the kids to play and all the transportation near by to get them there also.
This new nature reserve (which I loved) could be there for a reason, like there's some sort of dig site (like fossil for some ancient city). They found some evidence in the middle of those builds and later demolished all and made the park to preserve the dig site.
I only discovered and bought this game a few days ago - late October 2020, so a little late to the game, but having loads of fun. I got the Deluxe edition, but trying to figure out all the best expansions & mods. Your videos have been super helpful. Only seen a couple so far, but i want to use this map as well. Beautiful scenery.
9:20 I think that would be cool to build a canal to cross the peninsula, so the ferries would be able to shortcut part of the trip, making this transport system a little bit faster.
Good luck with selection 1 being a shipping port, I had a tourist port there and the industrial nor tourist port could find an outside connection. The city looks amazing Biffa, in the 2 years I have followed you, you have become a fantastic layout, build and details builder. One of the best on the web, I might hazard. Chock Dee as they say in Thailand or good luck for us English speakers!
Also, the 25 tiles mod seems to not have conflicts, but it will not get you around the sides of the new bay. However, the extra landscape tools allows you to use the tools anywhere you want so you can change change the shape of the bay now if you want to close it in a bit to protect your port.
Little tip regarding funding: increasing the budget for something--say, electricity--is generally less efficient than building a new power plant or water pump. IIRC an electrical budget of 150% only next 125% power generation. Budget increases should be used as stopgaps when you can't afford new buildings to meet the need, not long term solutions to increasing service.
I think a connection from Butler Park to the original town might be helpful as it provides another access point to the freeway. That said, I can understand that it might be very difficult to reconfigure the road network there, and thus might be a “Thanks but no” suggestion.
Hi Biffa! These videos are getting me through my pc withdrawal as my current one died a few months ago and I wait to afford getting a new one. I like the creative Tea theme names people come up with for the city’s districts. Watching this episode had me thinking of Italy being the "Boot of Europe" obviously with the land shape and European theme buildings. You should call this new area Bootea Pointe with or without the "e" haha. Keep up the great videos.
You made a nature preserve and put tents in it, but then zoned it so people built their houses inside the park! (Also I think you might have a few too many ferries on the line since you added those extra stops)
There is a mod called ‘Touch This’, which can be used to change roads on like the ferry stop, port/harbours etc. I find it really handy for these reasons. Also you could name the oil zone ‘Black Tea’
The 81 tiles mod caused me problem with my subways. When I bought new city tiles it dropped my subway lines and stations down to the maximum depth, and I couldn't connect any new lines to them.
I am enjoying this explosive built, but the lack of public transportation makes me want to fix that. You have added busses, but those arterial and main roads are screaming for trams or monorail connection or both and with train tracks right there, it asks for a little local hub. It makes me twitch that it's not used. Those for lane roads with a median on both sides of the highway for me are asking for a loop of trams and connection to the existing networks. And arterial road would fit monorail as it can connect close to the industry and previously built high-density area. It could fit both in places where it would make sense. Edit: I am catching Biffisms! Makes me twitch! I have that from you :-D
I'm happy to hear that you have some trouble with the 81 tile mod as well. I couldn't load any savegame anymore and lost the joy in playibg the game. After removing the mod everything was fine again
I think you should prefer low density just near the river side in the new area. So that everyone will have the view of the river. Which means outside should be low density and inside can stay as high density
I’m pretty sure your idea the 81-tiles mod was broken stems from right after the Sunset Harbor-dlc introduction, @Biffa dude. It was broken then. It’s been fixed ages ago, however.
I just realized this whole time that I've been watching your vids from the recommend, but never subscribed! It's been like a year now lol.... Subscribed!! :D
As always I enjoy the different daylight timeloops, but I'm a bit miffed the one time I watch this on my laptop instead of the TV there's no Biffa Bingo, I was fully prepared with a note and all ^^' Have you checked the ferries yet? There seems to be an awful lot of them now that you added those stops.
it's a crisis episode ! Want to make a port... whooops, can't because I can't get that square Want to build a new area... Can't ! Because there is no residential need Want to place that electricity building... Too bad, it's too big for here ! Want to response to the high industrial need ? It's OK, you can have it... But take high traffic with it, it's on the house !
Just nitpicking, Tax Relief for Offices in Butler park is pointless, as the few offices you've zoned are not in the district anymore. I also think that natural reserve fits in nicely, as it contrast the busy nature of the road above :)
the area you put a nature reserve would be cool if it had a castle. its quite defensable so i could see it being used as a location for a castle.
👍
Especially considering it was thought out to be the old city. A castle would fit right in.
Or castle ruins or old Lord manor building
The nature reserve park doesn't seem like it fits all that well there anyway. An old castle would look pretty cool.
Yes, you could get the old ruins (from the area from the beginning of the game) and copy using the moving it mod. Could make a nice feature.... or an actual Castle asset :D

Butler park should be called little ITEALY as it looks like Italy
Would the ferry at the tip represent the ferry between the mainland and Sicily?
That was what I tought right first about that!
I'm glad someone spelt it the way I wanted it to be pronounced 👍

Yes yes yes the 81 9x9mod is becoming categorically indispensible. And dont forget the monorail!!
Not sure why, but I prefer Purchase It, which is a 25 tile mod. 81 tiles is just too many to manage!
I like 81 so I can have a few remote villages outside the main city. I haven't had any troubles.

Ah yeah 🤔
Typical government. Tax relief for everyone! (But you, you and you are not eligible) 😁

late night at the pub. Waking up slightly hungover. Finds a new Biffa episode, all regrets are gone :D
Ferry traffic? It's time for a ferry roundabout!
You missed another backward asymmetrical road @ 6:12 on the right side. Looks great as always.
good tip: when making a park have trees grow over the paths as it's very nice to look at and not to see all paths naked

27:12 the good old 56k modem internet connection noise xD very subtle in the background
Only Issue with 81 Tiles I had is that mass transit lines are buggy in the outer squares. But the fix is simple enough: Don't put any lines there.
You should make a F1 race track. Never seen you do that
Every game I start - I will make this one look beautiful. 2 days binge playing later- 100k high density battery then quit

Use should add long distance light rail options in the new area they would look really cool connecting the two high density areas
To be blessed by biffa before I go to work. It truly is a blessed day.

Rotate the monorail station in the oil area so its a 3 way junction and the monorail can run smoother/faster

@ 6:17 Bad strategy to put the park in the middle of the peninsula. You want the park to take advantage of the waterfront.
