@@immapotato1 He was in a low budget green screen Netflix super hero show, as like a corrupt batman.
And yes, it really WAS as terrible as you imagine from that description, I can't remember what it was called but that's a good thing, you won't be tempted to see if it is that bad (it really is, it looks like he convinced Netflix to buy his kid's high school project for media class) and inflict yourself to it. Honestly, they were on different green screens and then just cutting to earlier footage of other people talking their half of the conversation, like when Neil Breen talks to his evil twin, but it was DDP and some woman instead of the same person so I don't even understand why they had to do that.
It's like it was filmed in Covid, but it was years before Covid, I really don't know why they did it.
THAT fact makes less sense than the story did.
But yeah DDP is technically an actor too, just not as successful, YET, but never give up
And I watched the whole season, I didn't just give up after one episode, I'm sorry, please forgive me.

Voice acting is a different skill and you see that with a lot of celebrity talent really just playing heightened versions of themselves, the recognizability is the draw. And was known for showing up to cool places and basically doing impromptu interviews with fans and a plethora of stories of him showing up at elderly peoples houses to help them do yard work and paying for groceries. Becoming a wrestler at such a late age would have been really hard and probably taught him to learn from the experts. I think carrying over that mentality to acting is what helped him. He didn't just want to his thing and cash cheques, he wanted to be better and learn. And he keeps pushing himself as an actor. He keeps learning. Being open to learn is where I think Dave really excels and why he has had so much success.

He really blew me away in BladeRunner. The performance he gave was so perfect for such a tense and nuanced scene. There are so many layers to unravel in that opener, that only a very skilled dramatic actor could pull off. I instantly empathised with his character, and it set in motion the emotional conflict you feel as a viewer, that comes with the territory of the replicant story.

Bautista was one of my favorite wrestlers and is now one of my favorite actors. Not because he's some DDL savant or anything, but because he put in the work and made it happen. He could have easily coasted on his WWE fame but he didn't want to and hasn't. He's really committed to his craft as an actor and not relying on the big brute roles that will only take him so far and that he can only realistically play for so long.
